Metal rack on cart broken. Unfortunately it doesn't come out until luggage is on cart. I just had neck surgery a few months prior so I couldn't lift the ice chest, luggage we brought. The nastiness on the carpet after many months of not vacuuming in the sides (I didn't see any vacuums on the housekeeping wagons) is much worse in person. I'm not sure if we just had a bad room, as I'm seeing other great reviews (why I booked it). But sleeping within a few feet of that was not really happening.

My stay here was great. It was a clean property. Was happy with the service and clean atmosphere. Comfortable bed . Nice bathroom with nice size tub . Clean breakfast area . Clean pool area .

Everything was good until I got up to go the the bathroom and had to kill a cockroach.

When we walked in the receptionist was on a personal phone call making us wait until she finished her conversation on the company's phone. How do I know it was personal? "Boo, I gotta let ya go I'll call ya back when they are gone. Love you." She was nice after she hung up, but lacked a professional attire. The breakfast was decent and the cook was the nicest one we encountered in our 4 night stay. The kitchen somehow always seemed to be out of silverware though. The rooms, I'm very unsure if they are ever cleaned. The second floor reeks of a horrible odor, luckily it doesn't seep into your room. The walls you can hear everything! Every footstep in the hall is loud! We found someone else's jacket behind a chair in our bedroom on day 3...the day we requested our room to be cleaned, but it didn't appear clean only beds made up and a replenishment of towels. Please see the pics of the floor and desk in our room regarding cleanliness on day 1. Regarding the jacket found in our room, the lady at the desk brushed it off and said, "oh the last people probably left it or the cleaning lady took it off." It was found under a chair in the corner of the room so we hadn't noticed until we moved the chair from against the wall up to the desk the 3rd night because we needed 2 chairs at the desk. Just makes me wonder if the rooms really get cleaned. We tried changing to the holiday inn next door on day one, but unfortunately they were full. Now I know why.

okay by my choice I decide to stay here for 2 days normally I haven't done a hotel review in ages I would rate a hotel on a four star system in a way which I call Excellent, Good Fair, and Poor.. this one is only getting 3:-) I did not find anything poor here contrary to some of these reviews but I shall break it down.. First impressions: it's an older Hotel about 10 years I don't know if it was originally built as a Best Western or not it's called the Christopher in located in Forney Texas..easy to see from the freeway a little tricky to get in it's a very nice looking Hotel the grounds are kept up very nicely the pool with its little outdoor waterfall no indoor pool here and the entrance way is really nice. checking in was nice I'd had made reservations with the hotel itself came in I told him I reserved a room in my name for 2 days Saturday and Sunday with a late check-out Monday of 12:30 and I wanted the suite with the king size bed and the sofa no problem at all got my room number was 213 very nice room. walking back in nice thing like a lot of hotels that are quality hotels they pre-cool the rooms and leave them pre-cooled there's nothing like going to some cheap-ass hotel when it's a thousand degrees outside and you walk into a room that's 5000 degrees turn on the damn air conditioner go see a movie or go eat go to the bar and wait about six hours why the damn thing cools down which is why I don't mind paying a little extra walking in I was very impressed with the size of the suite Hotel ambience: what you find here is a very heavily trafficked area forney Texas is basically a part of the end of the Eastern Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is they call it.. it's it's right off of US Highway 80 which it brings traffic between Dallas and Terrell Texas especially with GPS is in very heavy volume..the hotel does not offer views per say of where you're going to relax in peace and quiet it's very noisy around there but if you don't mind that the convenience is great walk outside the front door you got a Chicken Express a waffle House at Taco Bell and McDonald's in the Subway within feet of you.. but the real is very impressive nice looking bathroom glass enclosed shower even had a little concrete block where you could sit if you need to for those that know bathtub.. flat screen TV nice kitchen area built up into a nice little Hutch with a sink fridge microwave nice working space tables great king size bed... elevator free laundry on the second floor to customers supply your own detergent..the hotel breakfast you were actually really good the eggs they use don't taste like instant they have fresh meat everyday when I was there they had sausage links and patties they got the waffle machine and the next day they had Mexican chorizo with eggs and tortilla shells.... the stay: it was very nice day I would stay here again the air conditioner was fantastic individually controlled off of the wall but it kept the room very very comfortable the fridge work great did not over freeze or anything the showers fantastic and I'll be damned if that hot water didn't stay hot the whole 25-minute either it was rocking.. A. excellent: shower space water pressure, king size bed mattress comfort, cleanliness, the refrigerator keeping temperature properly, easiness to the breakfast room breakfast selections, availability of eating places in walking distance also just behind the little many business area is an applebees too. B. Good: free guest laundry ice machines on each floor coffee always brewed fresh every couple hours, cleanliness of the hotel everything pretty much wiped down I did find one bottle cap behind the end table but no big deal. Fair: one thing to know about this place it's 10 years old in the walls are thin you can definitely hear people making noise in the Hall you can sometimes hear the TV next door in the next room..also there's a club behind so when closing time comes if you're facing the waffle House and Taco Bell you're going to hear the thumping music in the noise it doesn't bother me this is not a place where you going to have quiet this is more like a place where if you're working in Dallas and you want to place close by or if you don't really give a damn about that and just want a nice hotel for the most part. the TV was not impressive at all it was tinny sound and mono they don't have the controls to where you could set up a put a little bit of bass or treble or anyting and what it was spits out as just a factory speaker in the channels selections are not the greatest unless you like HBO they have quite a few of those but if you want the regular stuff A lot of times they have little fuzzy pictures and stuff I found with NBC trying to watch the British open and along with a couple other channels kind of snowy looking USA was struggling it's not high definition. excellent value though two hundred bucks for two days

The inn and suites are beautifully decorated. With warm undertones. The hotel staff are friendly and professional and provide exceptional service. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The eggs are freshly made. This buffet included. Eggs both scrambled and fried, bacon, potatoes, flour tortillas, sausage patties, oatmeal, waffles, yogurt, pastries, condiments, and fruit. The beverages included juices, milk, water, tea, hot cocoa, and coffee. Our room is well decorated and inviting. It makes a nice home away from home. While we are visiting loved ones and traveling.

First the AC didn't cool; within the hour of checking in we had to have maintenance come check and refresh the thermostat. Still didn't work. Maintenance man Kenny was nice and willing to help but he was leaving for the day when we arrived on Saturday. No maintenance staff on duty Sunday :-( Second, we were awakened by a third party in our bed at 2am....a disgusting BUG in the BED! (Pics) The grossest thing everrr. No manager or anyone with authority on duty Sunday. Monday morning and still no call back yet. Needless to say, this was a nightmare of a stay.

The silly cheap remotes don't work.

At first glance, it seemed promising - the location is great, the parking felt safe, and the lobby was very clean and modern, with a nice "new age" look. Unfortunately, the room didn't live up to the first impression. It was tiny, even for two people. The bed was incredibly hard, and worse - it didn't fit the oversized frame it was on. As I showed in the photos I uploaded, I hit my shin badly on the bed frame, drew blood, and it hurt like heck. When I went downstairs to show the clerk, she offered no help at all - not even a bandage. The room also lacked a microwave, which was a letdown. And oddly, my keycard stopped working around 9:50 a.m., just before checkout. We travel through this area 3-4 times a year, and while this place was cleaner than our last spot, I've never been injured at the other hotel. Next time, I'll be looking for a room with more space - and a safer layout.

This place intrigued me and decided to book this place for a week, since I was tagging along a business trip my husband had. Check in for this hotel is between 3- 6 pm. Unfortunately, my husband and I were not able to check in during that time and luckily had been able to get ahold of Howard, one of the owners of this place, and told us he would still be awake to check in until ~10 pm, when he goes to bed. But that he would leave the key in the cottage, where I had booked to get in, in case we come in after that. Howard was very nice when we met him (we ended up arriving after 9 pm). He showed us to the cottage, which is a small little place behind the main house (where there are 4 other rooms). The cottage has a king size bed with small living room. The bathroom is just a short few steps away from the sink. There is also a shower and a footed tub. I'm not a fan of baths and so I booked this place specifically for the shower. I wasn't too sure if the rooms inside the main house had showers, as I only saw photos of the footed tub (but there are a few rooms that do. I believe the room on the first floor only has a tub). The living room had a large TV and a Keurig machine with plenty of coffee and tea pods. I liked that a lovely tea set was provided to have my tea made in. As for breakfast, Howard had provided information for 3 places around town that we could get breakfast at. We ended up going to the White Rhino Coffee a few times and also El Mexicano Grill once. Overall, I would say that staying here was comfortable. Howard was very friendly and greatly appreciated him showing my husband and I a tour of the main house and most of the guest rooms (as we were the only ones staying at this bed and breakfast). But there were a few things that I want to mention that was unexpected. One was the daily housekeeping. Because my husband was at work during the day, I was staying in the cottage by myself. On our first day, my husband picked me up during his lunch so that we could pick up lunch at a nearby restaurant and then eat it at the cottage. When we came back, our door was wide open. I was surprised and thought I had forgotten to lock the door. But when I came in, I saw Tony, a friendly employee removing the sheets from our bed and putting on new ones. He told me that normally he comes by in the morning while guests typically would go out for breakfast but that he was late today. I had told him we didn't need housekeeping the next day. However, he came by, but only because I had asked Howard for some more tea pods for the Keurig, so he had Tony come by to provide new ones and clean towels. I didn't know if Tony would come but had a feeling, so I tried to take a shower very quickly when I woke up the next morning. The door that has the sink does not lock and because the way the shower and the mirror at the sink is angled, you can see someone taking a shower. This definitely made me feel uncomfortable, not knowing if Tony would come in for housekeeping and see me. Another thing that I want to mention is the train that goes all day and all night. The first morning we were here, I heard the train sounding the horn at 6:45 am and kept on going. My husband told me that typically the train will sound the horn when passing by intersections so cars know to stay back. I didn't really hear the trains too much later that first night. However, on the last night, the trains were going off all night long. I was so incredibly tired and severely sleep deprived when we woke up early the next day for our flight to fly back home to Los Angeles. I hardly was able to sleep (the train horn is very loud and you can hear it from several miles away). Also just wanted to mention that I heard a rooster around 6:30 am every morning and also heard the rooster in the afternoon each day. Same with hearing dogs barking. These noises didn't bother me but the train sound was definitely a problem. Of course these outside noises are not the fault of The English Merchant Inn but wanted to mention them. I really enjoyed my stay in the cottage at The English Merchant Inn but not entirely sure if I can stay again with all the noise. Where the majority of hotels are in this city, they are on the outskirts of town. According to my husband (he has traveled to Waxahachie several times for work), you can't hear the trains from the hotels, where he stayed before). If I was to stay here again, I would have to bring some really good ear plugs to block out all the noise for a restful night's sleep.

Entering our room the cracked flooring and dirty bedcovers were a taste of things to come. Unfortunately, we did not heed this and unpacked our children, bags, and pet dog. The toilet in the bathroom does not flush, the handle in the shower is falling off, and a dead cricket resides in the corner of the bathroom floor. After a brief discussion we decided to just keep the room, it was after midnight following a long day of driving. Sometime around 2 am a crew of workers began doing maintenance on the room upstairs, they stomped around and used powertools for at least 2 hours. I was able to drown out the sound a bit with the extremely loud bathroom fan. This was the most expensive (by far) and worst motel (by far) of our trip. As a final note, there are very few cars in the parking lot leading me to believe this is one of their better rooms or that they do not have any idea about the conditions of the rooms (or maintenance schedule) in their hotel. Do not stay here. Negative stars.

This hotel is way too proud of their crap rooms to be charges over $70 per night. This area is too nice to have a crap hotel like this! So apparently if you book this place and enter your card information - you're not paying for the hotel. They'll make you pay when you get there and then charge you. (I ended up with 2 charges and had to get my bank to correct it). The front desk gal for night time was very young and maybe inexperienced. So we get to the room and it smells like no one has turned on the A/C for a few weeks, so we crank it down to cool off on this ungodly humid May evening. It looks likes someone slapped some recent pant on the walls. Next to the bed on the wall shared with the bathroom is tow LARGE dents like either a head or multiple fists/objects had tried to make a new opening. In the bathroom there was mold along the edging and some type of little black bug on the towel hanging over the side. There was not free or complimentary soap in the room to be found. Literally the one thing I pray I don't have to haul around and you can't offer a 5 cent bottle of soap for the shower?! We get in bed - with very light, thin sheets and realize there are only 3 tiny thin pillows for 2 people. We call the front desk and ask for at least 1 more. We are told that we'll have to walk all the way to the lobby for it. Granted, there were 2 ladies there at the front just minutes before, but not one of them could walk down to our room where we are paying to stay?! So the spouse marches over and gets this extra pillow. We quickly find out midway through the night that the A/C unit has a mind of its own when we nearly turn to ice pops. But when we tried to turn the A/C up a bit, it wanted to sweat us out. The sheets were too thin to be frozen but the humidity was too strong to sweat. I'm not sure I got any decent sleep that night. Just don't come here. Drive an extra 10 minutes to the next town and get a better room!

There's lots of homeless people outside and not safe in my opinion. Just beware when booking. There wasn't many highly rated restaurants near Omni hotel, had to drive to places. They also host lots of events outside the hotel on their lawn. Hotel is nice. Staffs are super polite and trained. Everything is clean and super decorative. Hotel has restaurants on the first floor, they have small pool, small gym, and spa which you have to pay for. I stayed for two weeks and needed my clothes washed. The hotel does have a service where they send it out to get it washed. But it was insanely expensive. To wash a shirt was around $10. It would have cost me like $150-$200 for a week worth of clothes. I drove 20 min to the nearest coin laundry and spent couple dollars. Would love to see coin laundry in the hotel. Gym: The gym has dumbbells that only go up to 75lb. No barbells. The machine to do back, arms, etc were uncomfortable to use. Pool: Pool is on the same floor as the gym. Can see downtown Dallas. I think it's infinity pool(?) but it's pointing to the hotel building rather than facing downtown Dallas. Room: Room was super nice. The A/C is amazing, works very well. As soon as I got back to room, I set room to 62F. Then to 68F when i got cold. I stayed for 14 days and found out on my last day that there's a fridge hidden in the cabinet. I was super upset about that. The soaps, shampoo, etc are nice. The staff gives you new set even if you are using them and not empty. Price: My rate was $170 through business portal. So probably cheaper. For 14 days (13 nights), I paid little over $3000 due to various taxes and parking your rental car is like $30(?) a day. Really nice hotel, fast elevators, has gym/spa, near freeway and in Downtown Dallas. I just didn't like the environment as soon as you leave the hotel, feels unsafe.
