There were outside spaces to drink in the pub , clearly a popular place with a cheery crowd . Euro cup was on when we were there and England won at that stage - which added to the cheeriness of the place. The rooms were large with empty spaces . That took away some of the warmth and gave it a quasi modernistic feel . But overall the Hotel had nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helped with the luggage . There were good toiletries , biscuits and tea making. A pleasant place

They sometimes have acoustic nights too. Folk week is the best time to visit if you like a bit of shindig! It was a gorgeous summer's day ( yes, there was one in 2008 ), and the seating area outside was full, so we ate in a patio area, but still had a good view of outside. Both my wife and myself, opted for a delicious roast beef sandwich on scrumptious granary bread, with side salad. My daughter, just had chips,and nibbles from both our lunches, but suddenly regained her appetite, when she found out ice cream was on the dessert menu. From what I recall, there was a good choice of ales, and I had my favourite - Otter Ale. Washed down with my granary and roast beef sandwich, this was one fantastic lunch. The staff were first class. A gorgeous young lady with dark hair served us, but whose name escapes me. She told us her dad is originally from Northern Ireland. So if her boss is reading this, and recognises the young lady I am referring to - give her a pay rise, she is a credit to your pub. Her personality is as lovely as her looks. For wonderful food and first class staff - yet another example of Best Of British. Will most definately be back again.

We were in room number 1 that overlooked the parking lot. The room itself is small yet equipped with a double bed, night tables, wardrobe, desk and chair. There's not a lot of room to move around... especially in the bathroom. I should note, there's no lift so if you've got a bit of luggage, consider staying on the first floor (which is only two flights of stairs). I will say, I was surprised by the breakfast which was included with our room. I expected a continental breakfast, which there was (and a quite extensive one at that) but it also included a full hot breakfast too. So while we ordered our Full English we were invited to help ourselves to the buffet. The selection was fresh and with such a wide variety, there was definitely something for everyone. I'm only knocking it down half a star because, even through I did book a compact room, it was way smaller than I had anticipated, however, the room was clean and the dining room, sunroom and pool area absolutely beautiful. I would definitely stay here again... just in a bigger room. :) 4.5 stars.

The lobby is beautiful, the staff couldn't be nicer and more accommodating, but the room itself is just....bad. It's old-it smells, everything is minimal and out of date. It was huge, but we only had wifi if we were sitting on the bed. The balconies were closed and the toilets were the slowest flushing things in the world. Honestly? I wouldn't be back until the rooms get renovated. The hallways were gorgeous and was super excited about our room-but unfortunately it is stuck in 1970-and not in a nice way

The customer service was helpful but not very fast. Overall I think it's somewhere which needs a bit of a spruce up and a more organisation. Would recommend only if you can get a very good deal and a room with a view, apart from that you could try looking at other hotel, The other half of our group had a room on the bottom floor which they could not change. Their shower leaked and flooded the bathroom, they woke up to an infestation of Woodside and spiders in their bed and the breakfast was totally wrong and made them sick. We were able to get a small discount but nothing acceptable for the night they had. Awful experience for them

The beds are very comfortable, especially the pillows - a prerequisite for a restful break. We've stayed in the family room on the top floor and a large twin on the first and both had great beds and bedding. The bar is a bit dismal and doesn't have any outstanding beers (for those you have to go to Rock Point and drink Doom Bar). Hence only four stars. The pool is great for adults and kids alike if the weather will not permit sea swimming. Off street parking though not secure is a boom in such a cramped old town centre and is worth paying extra for. But the piece de resistance is the cooked breakfast. All locally sourced products and you can customize to your heart's content, all for £13! Non-guests welcome. Highly recommend. They even do good coffee which is highly unusual for a traditional English hotel.

It looks like a perfectly decent place for a drink but in terms of the food I can only say disappointing! The menu looked promising and it was packed out, with many eating. Fish & chips should be easy for a place like this so close to the harbour, but ours looked like it had come straight out the freezer. In fact, I doubt whether any of the produce on our plates was local. The chips were bland, McCain-like creations. On the plus side, the service was fine, and ale was good.

The bedroom was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. There were no views but we were there for fossilling not the views from the hotel. It was a five minute walk to the beach and the town. At £105.00 for a double, this was by far the most expensive B&B we had booked on our week's holiday. I think the staff were well worth the money. Polite and friendly. The full english was very tasty, served in the sunny conservatory.
