I had a good stay here. It's close to but not right next to Colonial Williamsburg, so it's on a good, quiet street and next to a handy gas station. The room was spacious, but the bed was very firm. Despite a request, they didn't service the room during the stay. The pool is large, but the towels are on request or they don't regularly restock them. The pool is also terrible for acoustics as any noise is really amplified. There is a gym. They offer a complimentary breakfast which has a decent selection for what would be expected. Overall a decent stay and reasonably priced as well. read more

Me and my fiancé booked this hotel on hotels.com. I really liked this hotel the only reason I gave it 3 stars was because it was a slump in the middle of the bed so u like kinda fell down in the middle. Made sleeping in the bed so uncomfortable. We didn't realize it was like that until after 11 when it was too late to try and get the room changed but I definitely told them about it when I left. This place was bitter sweet for sure!! I almost don't even want to write this review but, it's Yelp right. We were invited to come visit for a Time Share presentation. The accommodations were made in 2019 but of course do to Covid things got thrown off a little bit. Not only did I have to change my date, but Holiday Inn changed my accommodation location. Perhaps I should have given them a list of the places I've stayed in the past before they thought it was cool to put me here. ... with my family! Well, let's get into it. The hotel is visually appealing. You can see it clear from the street. Plenty of parking nice open lobby space. Wonderful wonderful employees! The employees are the reason why this place did not get a 2 star. Well, I'm still writing so they may get a 2 star but anyway, we were greeted by Nikki. Nikki was so awesome! She was bright eyed bushy tailed. She was so helpful with all the questions I had as well as local food recommendations which she was spot on about (Food for Thought)! #ThanksNikki Let's get into this room situation... We were assigned to the 4th floor for a for a Double Queen room. As soon as you walk in visually everything looks great in the dark. Turn the lights on I swear, housekeeping only cleaned everything that was eye level... don't look up, don't look down! The room had a dampness about it. It was shocking because although there is a pool there we were on the 4th floor and not above the pool so I don't know why it was a dampness and a stench in our room. It drove me absolutely crazy. I admittedly did not ask for a new room because I didn't want to have to move to another damp room. The room did have a microwave and refrigerator which was its saving grace that evening. And it was clean, the microwave and refrigerator were the cleanest things in that damn room. When you go to use the bathroom and take a shower, no matter what temperature you run that water everything in a bathroom was wet, that was so yucky to me! I limited my time in that bathroom! The towels wouldn't dry even w 8-10 hour gaps so we were forced to get 2 towels a day, I'm not kidding! To be honest, I can say so much more about this room but I'm tired of talking about it but the last thing I'm gonna say is that bed was the hardest thing I slept on since I slept on a speaker at a club in my twenties! If you know you know! There was a gym that I appreciated. It was basic, very basic but it did what it needed to do. There was a pool, we didn't use it but it was there for use. Breakfast... breakfast was served daily during the week, you get a bag breakfast but you get to pick what you want and on a weekend they have where you can get the things fresh although someone has to get it for you. They tried it, they really did. They couldn't quite get the timing of the heat versus the demand for the breakfast items. We got brand name pancakes but they were hard as a frisbee because they just weren't prepared in time for the amount of people that they had to serve. In case you missed it, everybody working was nice! The breakfast people were awesome I didn't catch the young lady's name but she was a short Caucasian woman looked like she was pretty young I will give her mid twenties who was pleasant and she kept everything orderly and clean. In addition to her, there was a guy who worked there who's name was Josiah. Josiah was awesome he actually reminds me of my cousins from down South, that's why I remember him so much he was so kind and talkative. I could hear his pleasant conversations with other guests regarding things he's doing in life, and he was just so pleasant. Sadly the -2 Star premises didn't match 5 Star employees so it's safe to say there's no way in hell I would purchase a Time Share from this company nor stay at this location again! Pros: Room was spacious, Love the dispensers of soaps, lotions and body wash, for the most part the room was clean, fronk desk person at check in was very friendly and accommodating, other staff were friendly as well, grounds and appearance inside seem pretty clean. Breakfast-I enjoyed the biscuit and gravy. The sausage look decent but I didn't eat it. Cons: Tub had hair in it upon check-in, tub needs caulking as well, sofa cushion in the living room was torn, 2 of the chairs were unstable at the table, my son fell out of the chair and hit his arm because the seat was completely broken, told front desk upon checking out and she could care less, my hotel room card stop working and had to keep going up and down to get it fixed. if I could give it zero stars, I would. The breakfast was mediocre. The two women I dealt with at the front desk gave so much attitude. when I told them that the housekeeping didn't give me new trash bags the young guy gave me some like it was my job. They over charged me several times even though they said it wouldn't be until check out. I had to beg them to come clean my rooms after 3 days and she didn't leave any new towels, refill the bottles or new washcloths. Tv channels half them didn't work. the remote in one room was missing found it under the bed which means they didn't throughly clean the room before I checked in. Curtains were ripped. 2nd elevator was broken. Beds were hard. had to cut my vacation early because I was disgusted by the way they ran this hotel. I have stayed at several IGH hotels and this by far was the worse. it ruined my vacation and my families. read more

We were offered 3 nights here (8/12--8/15/24) in exchange for a couple of hours of our time listening to details about the IHG travel program. (Although it had some positive aspects, it's not for us.) One of the things I commented on is that if they want people to buy into their program, they should choose better accommodations to reflect the quality of what they're offering. Unfortunately, this place made a really bad impression. Parking is eh. The lobby is fine, although I could have done without the bowl of brown/black bananas next to the water dispenser. Gag. They offer 3 luggage carts to bring your luggage to your room. At least one has a flat tire, or something wrong with it that causes it to drag. It's not a "wow" entrance, but it's fine. There was an indoor blah-looking pool; I didn't walk in but I couldn't see a hot tub. And there was a small exercise room--pretty standard. Staff was friendly everywhere we went, from the front desk, to the hallways when passing employees, to the dining area where one man worked hard to get breakfast to everyone in a friendly and timely manner. In retrospect, I should have asked for his name. The room was less than desirable. The toilet seat finish was peeling off, the bathroom mirror was old (the backing was deteriorating and causing black/brown spots), the outlets were so loose it was hard to keep anything plugged in, the air conditioner was loud and ranged from freezing to sweating, the bed could have been firmer (personal preference), and the furniture seemed to be made of particle board, but was probably MDF. I said the staff was great, in terms of friendliness, but I was not impressed by the cleaning staff. On our first morning, we left early and put the "do not disturb" sign on the door. When we returned before lunch, cleaning staff was still working in our hallway (a few doors down). I managed to find someone and mentioned that we were leaving the room and needed some additional towels. When we returned that evening, we had more towels, but no one had made the beds or cleaned the room in any way. That was disappointing. The location is definitely convenient for attractions like Williamsburg and Jamestown, and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. We would have loved to stay, but our schedules wouldn't allow for that. I might stay here again, if only because it's so conveniently-located, but I sincerely hope they'll take the time necessary to update everything. read more

Came here for a one night stay before we headed on to Norfolk, VA. There was another hotel that was here, but I can't remember the name of it, but this Holiday Inn Express is new (less than 3 years old). Check in and staff were pleasant. After my customary bed bug check, the room was clean and comfortable and included a fridge, coffemaker, microwave and iron/ironing board. I noticed that this hotel did not offer the travel size shampoo, conditioner and body wash, but had full size containers of these products in the shower area, which was quite nice as those little bottles may not be enough at times. They also offered free breakfast, an indoor pool, laundry services ($), exercise room and business center. They also had and ATM onsite inside and a small snack area near the front desk to purchase drinks, snacks and frozen food items for the microwave. They also have a nice outdoor seating area for those who wish to enjoy their meals there. Across the parking lot from the outdoor seating area was a bench where you could overlook a pond for a more tranquil experience. All in all, a nice hotel in the area to stay as you are passing through or to enjoy if you are in Williamsburg for an extended period. read more

Last night we got a late start hauling a vehicle and some other things to Maryland from Virginia. Was getting tired and was thankful that we were able to book a room at nearly 4 o'clock in the morning. Staff was nice and check-in was easy. I will say that this hotel is greedy as I'm not sure why they increased their rates last minute on us. We were only going to be there for a few hours, just long enough to catch some sleep before getting back on the road again. All the websites were saying that this room was anywhere between $85 and $99 a night but I couldn't book online because it was forcing me to book on the 5th and check out on the 6th when I needed to book on the 5th and check out on the 5th. We were charged $132 plus tax and fees which came out to roughly $150 for the 5ish hours we were there to sleep. The room was not clean. The little toiletries that the hotel leaves in the rooms looked to be used because some were only about half full. Someone before us had opened one of the coffee packets for sugar and put it back. Room service must not have checked the little coffee station from last guest. The walls behind the shower and the ceiling looked to have mold or mildew. Overall, not worth the money spent. We had a challenge or two, and they were able to accommodate, immediately, efficiently and most importantly the customer service driven! A great place to lay your head at night between amusement park days. This Holiday is in a convenient location (about 15 minutes from Busch Gardens and Water Country), features some of the friendliest staff i've encountered in the chain and has nice clean, modern rooms at a great price! My only issue was the breakfast area was an absolute mess (not by the fault of the poor sole hotel employee trying to keep up with people's terrible attitudes and greediness towards the food) and food choice while not initially limited - were so due to the sheer amount of people trying to eat / people overfilling their plates. Coming at different times each time didn't seem to alter this too much (it was just kind of crazy from 7am - 9am in general) but despite this we had a great stay and would definitely come back again based on the amazing service alone! read more

I found bed bugs in my bed while I was in it. The front desk switched my room and offered to run my things through a dryer to kill any bugs, but they washed my items in a high-power washing machine without permission and destroyed hundreds of dollars worth of clothes. They promised me that I would not be charged for the stay but they charged me anyway and wouldn't take my calls after. Now they're claiming there were no bed bugs. If I could give zero stars I would ! We haven't even checked out yet and we're rudely awoken by a BILL slid under our door with one knock at 8:15 am when we had already requested a late checkout. Then when we came to the door they had already walked away. I guess that was housekeeping's way of trying to get us up and out. Then at 9:15 another knock on the door from housekeeping.. mind you we had the do not disturb sign on the door .. when I answered I was like I thought we had the hanger on and she says oh sorry and walks away. Now we are all up including my toddler who I was trying to let sleep a little.. then I discover the "bill" under the door with BS charges that don't pertain to us considering we paid up when we arrived and had a zero balance. Again I'm sure another way housekeeping was trying to get us out. Then when I asked her she smiles and says "oh maybe it's a mistake" How unbelievably unprofessional I so many ways. Is this a motel 6 or a "nice" hotel ?? Then on top of that the pool is extremely cold and dangerous .. the floor is always wet and the tiles are extremely unsafe! They have wet floor signs surrounding the pool I am assuming to avoid liability for when someone inevitably falls. Thank God I was holding my 3 year old daughters hand walking to the pool because when she slipped and fell I was able to pull her up by her arm so her head didn't get cracked on the very hard tile ! Also if you like to have a hot breakfast don't bother to even consider this hotel because it's the worst breakfast I have ever seen. Not enough food in the weekends when the place was full and all of it was disgusting looking and the muffin I bit tasted frozen and defrosted. And the pancake maker is also conveniently "out of order". My daughter ate fruit loops and my husband and myself ate nothing. When we went to complain about the housekeeping waking us up and the BS bill we were told oh so sorry we will deposit some points in your account and we will talk to her. First let me say this hotel is extremely clean. Staff bustling around wiping surfaces mopping and smiling and greeting you. We were greeted at the front desk by three of the happiest faces, offering information, answering questions and just making you feel very welcome. The breakfast was great they were eggs sausage sausage gravy biscuits pastries and much much more. There was a very sweet young man filling things, greeting everyone, wiping tables. I was out looking for ice when an employee said hey if you're looking for ice you're going the wrong way it's right down this hall. Staff at front desk is terrific. I dealt with JR and he was courteous, friendly and professional. Place appeared clean and modern in lobby and hallways. Ample free parking next to hotel. Free password protected wi-fi which was responsive. However, cleanliness of my room on fifth floor was lacking. Sticky glass ring on desk; sticky spots on floor by coffee maker; place needed dusting; sink hardware was dirty. I cleaned up myself with wash cloth and soap and water and put up do not disturb sign because I didn't want place messed up. Continental breakfast was good. There was coffee, juices, eggs, breads, sausage. There were roughly twenty kids (pre-teen & teens) when I went playing with coffee and drinks, trying to toast bread and talking to each other, holding up the line instead of getting through and talking :( Not the hotel's fault; they kept food and drink stocked well; "breakfast-lady" checked on things twice while I was in line.just be prepared during breaks and summer. I did not check out or try the pool or the gym. It was by no means grossly dirty but clearly not clean. I did NOT complain to staff because I was only in town two nights for conference at the nearby Great Wolf Lodge. I would be willing to give them another chance. The front desk staff are rude! When speaking with our party, that rented a block of rooms, they spoke to us as if we were scum! I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone! And we weren't being rude to them!. They would not give a room to my niece in her wedding dress that her dad a reserved for her and her new husband. It's always good to be treated terrible for things you can't control. Will never stay at another Holiday Inn because of the manager at this hotel and will cancel our loyalty membership. Had a wonderful nights stay. The rooms were clean beds were extremely comfortable and I love that there were sooooo many pillows per bed! Probably one of the things we were most thankful for were the little frozen pizzas and snacks we were able to purchase by the front desk, especially since we arrived at about 1am after long flights from California. Just over $20 fed all 4 of us! The gentleman working the front desk so late was still wide awake friendly and happy to help in anyway he could. The free breakfast in the morning consisted of eggs, sausage, cereal, pancakes, muffins, bagels, fruit, all kinds of juices, tea and best of all..... HOT COFFEE!!! Can I get an AMEN! Check out was a breeze. Every staff member we walked by or spoke to was very friendly and had a smile on their face! You guys ROCK! We stayed here 3 times. Overall the impression was very good. The rooms were clean, and comfortable, the pool was great, breakfasts were yummy with a lot of choices, the front desk people were welcoming and nice and location is perfect for us being close to I-64. The only flow we had the last time we stayed (which was in accessible room) is the weirdest way the AC unit worked making the noise (even in off mode) which we couldn't get rid of. So our night sleep was just awful and though my HB is a disable person we have to remember NOT to stay in accessible room here because the AC unit is different then in their standard rooms. Other then that we didn't have any issues and would stay here again. read more

We found this hotel via a Busch Gardens ticket package. Its a nice hotel and seems to be recently renovated. The rooms were clean and the indoor pool was nice. The pro's of this hotel are: Convenient Location to Outlets, restaurants etc, yes you have to drive to these places but its a short distance and you don't have to fight traffic to get in and out. Clean lobby, rooms and pool. Guest Services- if you have forgotten a normal toiletry item, just go to the front desk and they'll provide you with one for free. For example: razors, shaving cream, toothpaste etc. Breakfast in the morning was good. Sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and normal continental items. *see cons below though Now these are the cons that I had: The mini-fridge in our room did not work so I called the front desk and they told me that I had to turn the knob. Yes I know that but its not coming on. She said she would come up to check but no one ever did. Check out- there was no one at the front desk when I went to check out, so I stood there a good 5 minutes before the phone rang, then someone came who answered the phone and then told me they'd be right back, she wasn't gone long and once the checkout process started it literally took 30 seconds, it was just a pain to wait. Now heres the con to the breakfast: it is continental with hot items and it seems that they are doing their best to refill but another person helping would improve this. The poor lady was running like crazy. Also the second morning they were out of everything: no jelly for toast, no milk other than what was in the carafes, which don't even hold a half gallon (prior to the shortage they had individual milk cartons). My husband said he thought they said the truck didn't come in, but just take a ride to Walmart the next time and pick up a couple items, I know these things happen, but you know what they say: You had one job! The only other con was this and its the same for every hotel with a pool: there is no one working in the pool area to enforce the pool rules. As a mom of 2 little kids, I would appreciate for someone to stop the rough housing, diving and cannon balls that were occurring in a 5 foot deep pool with a sign that clearly says No Jumping or Diving! It says to alert the management if rules are being broken but thats just not something I do. Overall my stay was great and I would recommend and would go back. read more

Double room is a bit tight. The shower curtain had red mold stains on it. Housekeeping did a good job each day though with getting our room in order. The staff is very polite. We stayed on the ground floor which made for easy loading of bags and getting into the side door when returning from shopping. Keep in mind that at night, the parking lot is usually full and if you cannot get into the side door, you have a nice little trek to the front entrance. We were there with cold winds whipping which made for some serious running. The doors are locked at 11:00-7:00, so if you are leaving any earlier than 7:00 am the side doors will lock if you have to make multiple trips, and you will have to walk around to the front of the building to get in. The first 2 days the pool was closed for maintenance because the heater was shot. They replaced it and we got a chance to swim one night. It was nice. We ate breakfast the first day and did not return. The eggs are yellow discs of rubber and the pancakes are definitely space food. All I could find was sausage and pre-made cinnamon rolls. I was very disappointed with the breakfast because it helps us save money in that area. Not this time. Overall, I am not sure that I would return though. If you are not really a breakfast eater or just need a quick place to lay your head for a night or two, then I would recommend. read more

Two Tiffany bracelets disappeared from my room. The hotel staff was COMPLETELY indifferent. The Tiffany bracelets disappeared right from my locked room! They were placed in an outer zippered compartment of my suitcase in the morning, not clearly visible to anyone. Then, they were GONE when I returned that evening! We went to the front desk supervisor to report what happened and to file a lost and found report. The clerk was defensive, claiming that nothing like that had happened before. While on vacation, we stayed at this hotel for three days. Andrea, the asst general manager, greeted us with a huge smile and open arms, even though it was late at night. She answered all of our tourist questions and then some. She was so delightful, as was Daisha and Karen who suggested some great places to eat. The hotel was bright and very clean. The breakfast area was well stocked and had a lot of variety and condiments. Kudos to the kitchen staff, especially Brian, who were very helpful. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Overall my stay was not bad. My family arrived at the hotel at 1pm on that Saturday and we were told there were no available rooms and we couldn't check in until 3pm. We stayed for one night 6/29-6/30 with my and the overall stay was decent. The only issue was the tub that didn't properly drain, which was kind of annoying.
