We stayed here for 3 nights over a long weekend, overall we enjoyed our stay. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool, and the pool was lovely. It is an indoor/outdoor pool with a large outdoor free space. They had several areas of free space in the lobby which is great for small groups. They only provided housekeeping 1 time and it only included garbage change and new towels. They do not do full housekeeping, apparently. When I called down in need of extra coffee, they brought it up quickly. I found the staff was hit or miss at the front desk. They were supposed to provide a welcome bag, but they did not, and when I asked questions to one person she did not know the answer. The bistro was ok. The staff were honestly very unhelpful, so we went elsewhere to get our coffee the next morning. read more

My reviews will always come from a travelers perspective, with a strict budget. We always travel with our service dog as well, so I give tips on that also. We are a middle aged couple, and sometimes when we have the kids with us we review from that perspective as well. So if you were using your Bonvoy points from your Chase or American Express card, I would recommend you stay at Fairfield, town place or Springhill suites over the courtyard. The courtyard doesn't provide free coffee or breakfast. This particular courtyard I was shocked they didn't even offer coffee when it was 20 degrees outside, instead they had ice water with lemons and limes cut up in the lobby... this location should really rethink that. No one wants ice water when it's 20 outside. The place did have a conjoined indoor outdoor heated pool, we did not use it but there were kids using it. The place and room was very clean, staff were ok, not super nice and welcoming like some please. They do seem to have issues with staffing the coffee/food area where you can purchase coffee and food (small sandwiches but nothing filling). They do have lots of green space for your service dog but are not per friendly. They have an excellent restaurant next door, called The Whaleing Company, great food but just know your gonna spend $20 average a person and kids menu was chicken nuggets, pbj, and hot dog type of food (def not Applebees kids menu IYKYK). The clam chowder was very good! They accommodated my request of a ground floor, but my standard Bonvoy request for the extra pillows, towels was not. So just know if your like us and have a standing request for when you book, they don't seem to look at this area. Check in and out was simple, and overall it was a nice stay. I hope they read the suggestions... free coffee or hot chocolate is a must in the northern region during the winter. read more

Upon arrival, the front desk clerk was welcoming and professional. The property has an obvious mildew smell which should've been my first sign to decline the stay. When entering my room, I immediately noticed that the door was ajar. Most of the drawers were opened as if someone came into search for items. I immediately left the room to staff know about the safety concern. In short, I was given a different room, but on the other end of the same hall. Serviceable hotel a fast drive from Busch gardens. Below my usual standard for a Courtyard, but made up for it with a walk out room into the courtyard with a pool. First, the good things. The room was nice and spacious with a separate living room and bedroom. The living room had a sliding door that opened up onto the courtyard and had direct access to the pool and space for the kids to run outside while we could watch them. It's hard to overstate how nice that was. That said, it couldn't get to five stars. The room was just run down. The carpet was a bit dirty. The curtains were obviously cut here they had gotten cut in the sliding door. The room also smelled vaguely of smoke and must when we walked in. When it came time to sleep, the sleeper sofa was fine, but similarly worn down to the rest of the room. The two double beds were fine if a bit hard, but the walls were very thin. We could hear voices pretty clearly at least until 10:30 or 11 at night. Even after that, it must have been that the plumbing for all the toilets in the hotel went through our wall because it was continuously having pulses of water. Still, all together it was actually a pretty nice family stay. Nice, big enough room. Very thin walls with loud toilets. Nice pool. Fine sofa bed for a kid. Hard beds. read more

Front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, but room cleaning team scored low. On checking in with 3 rooms, one was completely dirty/uncleaned, and another had only one bed with full linens, the other was missing a top sheet. Surprising as we've always had a good stay here. I am a travel nurse and this was supposed to be a 3 month stay cut down to two night. I go into what happened. I just wanna say the lady at the desk at night was the absolute most professional nice caring person that I ever had and that is when I checked in on Sunday the16th after 11p.. I had arrived at the hotel and was a little disappointed because it was somewhat rundown needed. Paint touched up furniture looked old but the lady behind the desk that checked me in was absolutely amazing so I went on and checked down and slept that night Monday I realize that the pool was shut down and when I called about it, it's listed on the website. They told me it would be opened by July 1 and when I got there, it's not gonna be open till 2025 so that was disappointing too lol Monday night I went to bed so I could get up and feel rested for my first day of work on Tuesday and this is what happened ..... I had fallen asleep and 0223 a mouse jumps on my stomach and runs off. Front desk You have a what? Are you sure? Maybe it was a dream, Me. no ma'am, it is peeking out from under the couch at me, Front desk, I wonder how it got in? Is it brown? Me, excuse me ma'am but I can't stay in here tonight , oh ok I will send the concierge up and move rooms for you . 0300, Concierge here's your cart. Me, is there anyway you can help me. Concierge. No im in maintenance, he turns around and walks away. Beware of this hotel there were lots of Bedbugs on my bed. Unacceptable and I would not go back here again if I had a choice. Inspect your bed before taking your room for the night. It was crawing all over me when I felt it. The welts came out after a day or two. They were under the pillows and the bed corners by the headboard. read more

An excellent upscale option if you're coming to see Busch Gardens or anything else Williamsburg has to offer. My parents and I have been coming to Busch Gardens for many, many years, and during that time we've probably stayed in over thirty local hotels for varying durations. If we've discovered one thing, it's that you usually get what you pay for: hotels that have to advertise on Groupon to liquidate their rooms (like a certain hotel with "Fort" in the title) are probably having a hard time filling rooms for a reason. Likewise, the hotels which might be a little more expensive tend to be cleaner, have better service, and offer more amenities for your money. The Courtyard by Marriott is case in point of that truth. We came here for the first time a few weeks ago and it was a great experience. Our room was gorgeous and well-appointed, no need to call down for more towels or ask for help with a broken lamp/TV or wet floor (yes, those have happened at other area hotels). Nice TV, HVAC, shower, bathroom, and beds, everything was flawless. The service when we checked in and out was also quite good. It was a shame breakfast wasn't included, though not a dealbreaker by any means. We would definitely return again! Overall: 4.5 stars ---------- Pros: - Excellent, well-appointed rooms with all the amenities. - Hotel itself was very clean and attractively furnished. - Great service and friendly staff members. - Thick walls = great night's sleep. Cons: - Parking was pretty minimal. The later you get in, the further you'll be from the front. - Lack of breakfast is unfortunate, though there are plenty of area options for dining (just not quickly). read more

Hard to believe this hotel is a Marriott. This room was extremely dated, none the outlets in the room were tight enough to hold chargers, there were water stains on the walls in the bathroom as well as mildew in the tub and the toilets sounded like they were erupting when flushed. This was a king with a pull out bed but had no linens for the pull out. The furniture was strained and the carpet was filthy. As if that wasn't enough the key card stopped working twice during our2 day stay! read more

Great Courtyard! The staff at this location is always super friendly and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Super clean property with very reasonable rates. If you prefer more room their suites are solid. Pool is great as well! Only change I would make would advise larger in some of the rooms. read more

First the Good: The Hotel is located VERY close to Busch Gardens, Parking is very easy and the Hotel lobby is very nice. The pool is a decent size and has both an indoor and outdoor swimming area which was great on a hot day. The Staff was extremely Helpful and very fast when we asked for anything. The Bad: There are very limited options for food in this area so you will be driving 15 minutes to a market or a good restaurant. The Room itself, wow is this room SMALL literally only a mini couch and desk. No fridge and tiny bathroom, don't try to get 4 people in this room you will be sorely disappointed. Ok it's back to 3 star. Again I reserved 2 rooms with sofa bed for kids. For second time coming here now they had us in a king room. When I asked the reception if it had the sofa bed. Her reply was we had to go look as their system has no way to tell them which do and which don't. I guess that's why they mess it up all the time. Very poor management. read more

I stayed for two nights over a long weekend and enjoyed my stay so much. I almost gave Courtyard 5 stars, but ultimately there were a couple things that didn't quite make it to perfection. Mostly because the hotel is a bit dated, which you'll notice in some places painted over several times and/or peeling, the drawers in my room were fussy, and there was rust at the bottoms of the door jams. They don't offer any complimentary meals, though they make up for that with an excellent bistro. The pluses here are the superb decor. I was really aesthetically pleased with the vibrant wallpapers in just the right spots and the artfully placed pictures. The design is amazing. My room was spacious, especially the bathroom. I thought there was a good ratio of elevators to hotel wings and it was easy to find your way around. I parked and left several times and got turned around, but always found my room. Every single member of staff was exceedingly polite and always greets you. I was pleased to find that a member of housekeeping tidied my room while I was out. My room was just shy of $80 per night, which is the going rate for hotels that service conventions or act as overflows for guests. This was the first nice hotel I got to stay in that was associated with a con. The bistro is pretty awesome, even if they aren't open 100% convenient times. I got an awesome breakfast of 2 eggs, toast, fruit cup (or potatoes), and sausage (or bacon) for $9.50. It was better than some restaurants I have eaten at. If I ever have reason to stay in Williamsburg, it'll be here. read more

Since my last stay, just last week, I decided to return again. I'm dropping a star in my previous rating because I got a room on the back side of the hotel this time (seriously, the place is empty and the front desk clerk, same one as last time, said this was the only room on the first floor available.) I'd also say it's not as good as my last stay. The bathroom tub is not something I feel good about. It's rather dingy and looks like it was not cleaned very well from the last person with dirty feet standing in it. The room is alright, and modestly clean otherwise. It does come with a mini-fridge and a coffee maker, but I plan to hit the Starbucks around the corner in the morning, after I have my free breakfast. Bottom line: It's a little hit and miss, but I think they could be a four star again, if they tried a little harder. And I've been to both worse and better. It's a safe and affordable stay, so I'll give it the three stars as an update. read more

Had an excellent stay at the Courtyard Marriott Williamsburg Busch Gardens. Extremely friendly staff from the moment we walked in. Building has some miles on it, but was impeccably clean. All employees from the front desk, maintenance, housekeeping & Bistro were all smiles and very eager to please. And I like the relatively new Marriott Bistro restaurant concept. I mean everybody wants a free breakfast, but free food is generally low quality food. The Bistro has a limited breakfast/lunch/dinner menu, but all the items we tried were well prepared & extremely tasty. There are low calorie/healthy options as well. Plus it's a coffee bar in the AM & a real bar at night. Exactly what one needs when travelling. Also conveniently located to Busch Gardens & Water Country USA. read more

Don't come here if you want to sleep in. The cleaning staff gathered outside our room and proceeded to talk about their lives and what ever else was on their minds. They started talking at 9am and proceeded to talk, loudly at that for at least 45 mins. to an hour. My husband and I came here for a quick weekend get away, to sleep in and relax.... Definitely not the hotel for that!!! Sadly disappointed. We have always been happy with Courtyard by Marriott in the past. We won't be making a return visit to this one! read more

Super disappointed in this hotel. My husband and I came here to book a room last minute, as we were traveling through town. I saw that there were rooms available online, so we went to the hotel and when we asked the guy at the front desk if there were rooms, he said no and that there was a big golf convention in town. I said really? Then why can I book a hotel online? He said if you book online and came in, I would have to tell you to go somewhere else. WTF is up with that? He never asked our Marriott status, which is platinum. So, every-time someone I know goes to Busch Gardens I will tell them not to go to that Marriott! There was another Marriott a few miles away, which we decided to stay at. I asked the man at the front desk if the above situation was possible, he said no. Stayed here during the tail end of memorial weekend Sunday-Tuesday. Staff here is very friendly. Room was nice and clean no odd odors. Loved how the toiletries were pumps attached to the wall of tea tree by Paul Mitchell. I've got long hair and the tiny bottles at hotels usually isn't enough for my hair and my husbands. Got the breakfast package for our stay. Food was good and served Starbucks coffee. We will deff be staying here again. read more

I am a silver Marriott member so I have been to quiet a few in my life. I can truly say that this hotel matches the area it is in...due to the fact that it feels as old as the plantations that surround it. Nothing is updated and the hallways are dark. You might as though someone is going to jump out at you at any second. The rooms are kind of depressing. TV is old, design is old, bathroom is old...this place is just old. With all of the being said, the hotel is clean and well kept...for an old place. If you are expecting the typical "Marriott" experience, pass on this one. You will be sorely disappointed. read more

Wow did we have problems at this place. First, our flight arrived in Richmond about 10pm, so by the time we got to Williamsburg, it was almost 11:30pm. The front doors of this Courtyard were locked. Yes - that's right - it's not a typo. They were locked. So we rang the bell. No response. We could see the front desk and nobody was there. We kept ringing and pounding on the glass. About 10 minutes later, the old lady working (who was obviously napping in the back) finally heard us, came out, and didn't even apologize. Second, when we got to our room, there was a big rollaway bed inside the door blocking our way in. We didn't request it. No idea why it was in our room, but we had to put down all our bags to push it out into the hallway. Third, there were dirty towels hanging in the bathroom. Little pieces of brown goo on the towels. NASTY! Enough said - I normally like Marriotts, but I'm sure staying away from this one. read more

Four (2 adults a 9 and 12 year old) of us stayed in a tiny room with a pullout couch for 3 nights. It was on the interior courtyard with no road noise but we did hear a crying baby at night ... occupational hazard of spring break staying in Williamsburg I guess. Room was very clean, actually OK stylewise but no granite or anything like that ... with a non flatscreen TV. Slight bad odor upon arrival quickly dissapated. Tiny balcony was kind of a joke but good for my wife to paint her nails without gassing us out. We did not try the breakfast. There was a small fridge in our small room that helped us out. Most of the hotel looked fairly dated especially 80's style green carpeting. Good things: Heated indoor pool and hot tub! This really made staying in this business hotel good for a family. I used the workout room, the Arc trainers were meh, they had free weights though and it's good to run in the corporate circle. The kids were in the tiny indoor portion of the pool every day and really looked forward to this. Note - you could pretty easily walk to good restaurants. Bad things: Small room that really seemed made for 1 or 2 people at most, tiny mattress on pullout couch (no 2-bed rooms were available ... with Priceline you get what you get). I really can't complain. I would be disapopointed if I paid a high retail price. Great location close to all attractions. read more

We just reserved two adjoining rooms here for a combo sleepover/Busch Gardens birthday party for my 9 year old daughter. The staff were amazingly friendly and kind to our party of 6, even with 4 children. The rooms are slightly dated, but clean. The bistro was busy, but had several breakfast choices (including good vegetarian and healthy options), decently priced kids' meals ($4.50), and Starbucks coffee. Basic older hotel room which was very clean and very well maintained. The staff was kind and attentive. Only complaint was the thin walls, but fortunately our neighbors were pretty quiet. Also there was an odor of cannabis down the hall which was covered by perfume; not faulting the hotel, just something we noticed. No breakfast included. Would definitely stay here again. read more

I was disappointed and then relieved we didn't get a balcony room. A baby was screaming when we went out to sit by the pool. Our second story no balcony room was great. My initial impression was that we paid way too much for a room we would be miserable in. Fast forward to this morning and we realized how quiet it had been. No door slamming. Didn't hear kids screaming. Don't get a balcony overlooking the pool unless you have kids because that is where they all were. We sat at the pool but didn't go in because the kids were all in there which is understandable. You can swim from the outside to the the inside pool which is nice. We passed by the pool several times at various times of the day and there were times no kids were there. We stayed in 248 and I think I would ask for that one again. read more

I recently stayed for a conference: The good: the people were very pleasant that worked there and we got checked in quickly. The heat worked really well The bad: the AC was really loud. The tub felt gritty and the shower was ok. The ugly: I had 2 queens and one was right up against the wall. The comforter was also pretty lacking. We took an extended Fall break and decided to stay at this Marriott hotel. We are so glad we did. The receptionist was great. She was very helpful and allowed us to check in early. She was super friendly towards our family and thoroughly enjoyed our boys. She was very kind. Also, we decided to add a room to the suite so that the boys had their own sleeping space since the pullout wasn't comfy enough. It was clean, convenient to the parks/attractions, and had a great pool and hot tub. The boys loved playing in the pool. We plan to return every year. read more

This was a vacation trip for my husband and I and the staff was very friendly and super helpful. Knowledgeable about the best pizza in the area we couldnt have been happier with our room and our stay there. If I had one complaint it would be that the pool was not open but that is really a complaint because we we were to tired and busy to swim anyway. read more

Stopped here on a long road trip. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, our room was next to the courtyard, which proved to be noisy, as there were some groups out there after midnight. The linens were ok, not super comfortable. There was no free breakfast and the lobby is crowded with people ordering from the bistro. We did also get woken up twice by maids wanting to clean our room, at 8 and 830 am. read more

We stayed the weekend at the Courtyard Marriott in Williamsburg. Our stay was wonderful! Sharise was delightful when we checked in and our room was very clean. We ate breakfast at the bistro every morning during our 3 day stay. The food was delicious and there were some awesome healthy options (try the avocado toast for breakfast). Again, Sharise was a joy and Anthony, who we think manages the bistro, was beyond amazing! He was there very late one night, and back again, after an hour of sleep the next morning - all with a smile on his face willing to help serve you with anything you needed/wanted. My boys swam in the indoor pool. While it was small it didn't matter to them. It helped them burn off some energy before bedtime. Pool towels are provided. We enjoyed our stayed very much and next time we're in town, the Courtyard Marriott Busch Gardens is where we'll stay :) read more
