First, any hotel that still charges for basic internet connectivity automatically loses a star or more and I try to never go back - SEGUE: PLEASE JOIN ME IN THIS CAMPAIGN!
I digress: A noisy, sprawling, myriad of tiny halls and stairs that frankly needs a major refresh in all the rooms - did I say noisy? For what it is, you'd think it would be somewhat inexpensive, but it is not in the slightest. While the staff was kind and pleasant, they were not efficient. I waited quite a while to get served in the restaurant and a few details had to be worked out at check in. Things like this usually point to a management issue, but hard to say. I will say that it was very busy, and hot and humid, so maybe I am being a bit harsh on the staff. The hotel is not close to any of Guildford's shopping or excellent restaurants and no shuttle service is available (again, poor management decision), so either bus or cab (approx 10 pounds) is required to get to Guildford Centre. Frankly, other than proximity to University, I see no reason to stay here.
The toilet did not work sporadically, running and running until I fiddled with it - the room air conditioner worked awesomely well!
Caution: if your plans change and you need to leave a day early, it is a 50 POUND CHARGE! Just another reason I will not be staying here again. read more
