I was not able to sleep on the flight over and was basically with 1 hour of sleep over a 24 hour period. I got only FOUR hours of sleep at this hotel on a night that I should have been able to sleep like a baby on a bed of nails and broken glass. I've stayed in other hotels in Europe. I know that firm beds and small rooms are the norm. However, this bed in this place is extraordinary: absolute torture. Good thing I'm staying only until Friday. I also know better than to engage with the front desk on this, too. Not much they will do other than give the blank "Don't you know you're in Europe" stare that is typically given to Americans on such topics. Update: I ordered three extra duvets from the front desk. I layer each across the bed for extra mattress padding. While it didn't magically transform the bed into something heavenly, it did help me to sleep.

The Room: spacious and similar to an american room, king bed, a simple counter/desk running the length of the wall give or take. The closet setup is very nice, unless you have many things to hang and then it is a little cramped. The TV is a struggle since they have only german language channels (I know there are a few english ones out there... it would be nice...) but the MTV is tolerable with many more videos than the US... The shower is hot and adjustable and I look forward to it every time I come so that is saying something... The internet can be hit or miss, bring your own cable... but they do have wireless in the lobby that works well. The Restaurant: Always nice to have a restaurant in the hotel, especially on sundays since nothing is open on sundays except gas station food... no thanks... the morning breakfast is a little steep (20 euros) but it is a pretty authentic german breakfast and there are many choices in the buffet. Don't forget to eat a Bretzl (however you spell the big pretzel thing... amazing!). The Bar: Its a hotel bar... but it has comfortable seating, outlets to charge things at the tables by the railing and it is very modern stylish. The Service: Everyone is very friendly and helpful which in general is pretty amazing. They are accommodating to their ability and of course many are fluent english speakers (very helpful) The Location: Parking is a huge pain... Its about 20euro taxi ride from the airport, they do have a shuttle you can take to the airport but I've never figured out if you can get them to pick you up. There is a grocery store only about 3 blocks away that is very nice and there are a number of decent restaurants not very far away. Overall: This is one of the best hotels in the Stuttgart Airport area in my opinion.

My room had a large double bed. Very comfortable. The hotel is right next to a little shopping area that has some restaurants and a grocery store. It is also within walking distance of many other great places to eat. Public transit is right by the hotel. Super convenient. And there is a very old Jewish cemetery right around the corner that is worth visiting. It was a pleasant stay. I would definitely come back and stay here again.

Unfortunately, my most recent stay at Motel One Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (From the 23rd June 2025) was an absolute nightmare due to a bed bug infestation. After going to bed early due to an early flight, I woke up during the night and noticed dark marks on the pillow. When I turned on the main light, I discovered the bed was infested with large bed bugs (I have photos). At first, I wasn't even sure what they were because of their size, and I worried that they could be ticks. It was ~1am when I went to reception who gave me a new room, but no guidance on how to handle the situation or prevent spreading the infestation. I'd already unpacked my suitcase on the bed, had clothes on the floor, and had to pack everything up in the middle of the night, exhausted and worried. I took precautions myself by showering, changing clothes I'd worn in the bed bug bed, and keeping my stuff away from the new bed. The next day, after researching and speaking with colleagues, it became clear they were bed bugs. However, things got worse after I returned home to the UK: - My partner and I both developed new, painful, itchy bites for a couple of weeks afterwards. - We endured sleepless nights and a constant sense of disgust and paranoia for thinking more and more bugs were appearing due to the number of bites that kept appearing. - We had to turn our entire bedroom upside down, wash and steam-clean everything (including hiring a steamer), and I had to dispose of my luggage and clothing from the trip for fear of releasing any more bugs into our home. Despite all of this, Motel One's response has been to deny responsibility. They claim the room was inspected beforehand and that I must have brought the bed bugs in myself - an outrageous and insulting suggestion. It's impossible for a guest to cause a full-blown infestation within a few hours of arrival, especially for the bed bugs to be the size they were. I could've accepted this as an unfortunate one-off incident if Motel One had handled it properly with an apology, accountability, and some form of compensation. Instead, their response has been dismissive and defensive, shifting blame onto me. My warning to future guests: do not stay at this hotel. Clearly, rooms are not properly inspected, and when things go wrong, Motel One will not take responsibility. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, they will try to deflect and blame the customer.

The rooms are modern, colorful and even though they are small, the space is very efficient. They are also very clean. The bathroom is also small but ergonomic. There were not a lot hotel choices but this one was close to the base a friend lives on and we wanted to be close. When we checked in it seemed to go fine. We got our key and the front desk wrote down our room number. She then told me the room number and I told her she said a different number than the one written down. She said the one she told me was right so we took our key and bags and went up to the room. When we opened the room, we found a guy jumping out of the bed, completely shocked. We apologized profusely and backed out. When I went downstairs, the manger came over and asked what happened. I told him and he said that we went to the wrong room. I advised that I understand that but we were told the wrong number. He argued that the right one was written down. I said okay but they key worked for the room she said and he just started getting angry with me and saying it was my fault. But if it was my fault, why did the key work? They were so rude about it. I also put two people on their serration apparently but there was my nephew. I had forgotten to include him and they got rude about it and charged me additional fees for him. I was okay with it. It was a mistake when I was searching for hotels but he was really rude about it. We ended up needing to stay another night and I put all three the second night but when we got to our room still didn't have enough towels so I don't understand it. Also, this is incredibly close to the train. They had the heat on. We could not turn on the A/C so we slept with the window open and the trains were very loud. Overall, just not a great stay. The staff are subpar and act like you are the issue when they create problems. Still don't know how the key working on the wrong room was my fault. Only positives, it looks nice, the shower and shower products were nice. They have complimentary water in the room and a bar downstairs.
