And be prepared for a great time set in the rolling hills of Southwest Germany. We were on a quest to find a great restaurant after exploring Trier earlier in the day. We hadn't really eaten that much and we both decided that we were tired of Schnitzel and the typical German fare. After getting a recommendation from a friend, we took a ridiculously expensive 50 Euro taxi to the Eifel. It was worth it though. We ordered the Fleich fur Zwei. It started with bread, a huge salad and then the meat tray. A giant 18" tray of steak, chicken, shrimp, vegetables and pork all served perfectly spiced but raw. Then they also gave us two square stones that looked like Space Shuttle tiles to use for cooking the said meats. I'm not sure if it was the flavor of the seasonings or the stone itself but the taste was both unique and flavorful at the same time. The stone cooked the steak in about 4 or 5 minutes. Just enough time to talk about our amazing day between courses. Then to top it off (just in case we were still hungry), they brought out another huge tray of various potatoes...baked and fried varieties. All for around 45 Euros total!

They serve a basic german salad, a hearty soup and potatoes (french fries and roasted) with every meal. The potatoes are served family style. I had the tukey breast with a fried pineapple #6. The curry sauce is not your typical asian flavor, this is creamier and less pungent. I also like the cranberry-like dollop they serve with this plate. Very nice compliment to the overall dish. My husband had the #13. He was given 3 meats (tukey,pork,beef/venison) that were raw and perfectly marinated. They came with 3 dipping sauces and out came his hot "tile" plate. He loved the whole concept of cooking his meats and above and beyond that, he really enjoyed his dinner! This is definitely a place to enjoy a nice meal. The dinner plus a couple of drinks was about 40 Euro.

The two annoying things are: (1) The very high price of breakfast (clearly designed for expense-account travelers), but easy to address by just walking across the street to any number of excellent cafes and bakeries. (2) For the cost, it doesn't include gym access, even though there's a gym right next door which even shares a room with the hotel. (This is unlike many business hotels.) The former we were aware of, the latter wasn't a big deal for a short stay, and that apart the hotel was excellent: well-maintained, friendly, accommodating, and beautifully and conveniently situated (5-10 minute walk from the train station, in front of a bus terminus, and of course at the literal and figurative gate to the old town).

Supermarket a bit overpriced…read more I bought 5 buns at Lidl (on the bottom of the hill) for Euro 0,95 and for the same buns I paid Euro 2,45 at the supermarket on Landal Park. Quality of the homes are good. Usually the central heating of similar parks don't work really well, but this one was excellent. And the good part was, that when you left the home and forgot to switch of the heating, it would do so itself after 2 hours (of no movement). One less positive comment: I paid for 6 devices to get connected to the internet/wifi and only 2 devices could connect. After trying for 5 minutes. This, by the way, did not spoil the fun ;-)

We thought that it would be off-season and procrastinated until a few days prior to our arrival. The prices for hotels in Luxembourg had ridiculously skyrocketed thus we expanded our search. What a blessing in disguise. We found this charming B&B and winery in Nittel, Germany which is about a 1 hour bus ride or 30 minute drive from Luxembourg. We took the bus and the bus stop was a close walking distance to the hotel. We had a wonderful stay at this facility. This location was perfect being very convenient to either public bus from Luxembourg or the regional German train. This is more like a "Bread & Breakfast" type of location. It is not a true hotel thus can understand why they call it a "guest house." The owners live right next door to the facility. Birgit, our host, was wonderful and very hospitable, and treated us like true guests to her home. We enjoyed our morning breakfasts comprised of cold cuts, yogurt, fruit, coffee/tea, cereal, hard boiled eggs, etc. This would be a great location for wine tasters, or even those Luxembourg tourists who have a few days to spare and enjoy a really laid back experience. I suggest that they should have a contact number posted in the guest room for any problems that may arise in the room. We were initially given the wrong code for Wifi thus the first night we were almost in a panic since we also did not have data service for our phones. There was no information in the room on how to contact them, and it was already 2130 hrs. We did not want to bother them or wake them up. Anyway, we called the phone number in one of their brochures and fortunately someone answered and gave us the correct code. After a few days, we realized that walking next door and pressing the doorbell was just fine with them.
