My child also nearly died during labor and delivery. My cervix has been dilated at the back by 3cm for WEEKS but held together by scar tissue from a cryotherapy treatment for cancerous cells I had prior. I asked if this would cause issue with labor delivery and well it did. It was so badly scarred that during my membrane sweepa the midwife Cindy (who was an apathetic, judgmental b since I was in a DV relationship) broke up the scar tissue on two membrane sweeps, and THREE times during labor. During labor towards the end my child was stuck and was too big for me, it is now beloved there was a placental abruption when the pushing and pulling occured to physically remove my child. My child came out lifeless with black sclera and purple blotches all over his skin. The midwife Ashley whom took over for Cindy was phenomenal and resuscitated my son. She save his life. Everyone was underwhelmingly prepared for how fast things went wrong. After giving birth I had blood clots the size of softballs manually ripped from my uterus, and my uterus continues to not contact, my body went to into shock two hours later and my uterus was still not shrinking down and I began to violently, uncontrollably shake. Ashley was frantically trying to contact Cindy as to what could be going on with the situation to which Cindy was very unhelpful and I could hear the anger in Ashley's voice. My son was 9lb 14oz and 23in at 42 weeks 3 days. I went 37 weeks with my first and had something been done about the car tissue prior and a different theme of events portrayed maybe my child wouldn't have brain damage or me liver disease by forcing my body to go that long. Poor care throughout my pregnancy due to my DV situation and judge/talked about by staff members. They made me feel ashamed for delivering loudly too and we're angry I bles through their sheets instead of the fact I almost blew out and needed a blood transfusion. Very traumatic experience and I went into this experience hoping for the opposite of the traumatic hospital experience I had. Neither of my experiences were pleasant but the prenatal/during/after were deplorable.

I attended BOL for both of my pregnancies. one in 2021 & the next in 2022-2023. the staff as of late are a bit hit of miss. I had an ultrasound where I received incorrect information that made it seem like my baby was not doing well. part of this was an out-of-office staff members issue and part was the fact that BOL staff posted those results on my online portal for me even though I was coming in the next day for an appt. Then another staff started pressuring me to gain weight and commenting "you have only gained 6 lbs" when in reality I gained 12 because I lost 6 early in pregnancy due to a health issue I have been facing. She clearly did not read my chart and just decided to attack me making me feel like I'm not doing a good job to house my child. The best part is that when I arrived to the appt on the day I should have received the incorrect news that my baby was not doing well, I was down and stressed and the nurse, Tammy, advised I be put on antidepressants because I had not coped yet with the incorrect news that they gave me about my unborn child over an internet post!!! Not stable advice at all IMO. when I reached out to speak about this and other billing issues I was facing, GLENDA, THE MANAGER refused to get on the phone and speak with me. then after about 5 minutes of back and forth ... she got on the phone to basically tell me "this job was stolen from me" "I created this program and made it what it is" "it's only my first day back" "Wendy stole my job" then we were "disconnected" and I could never get ahold of her again. Wildly unprofessional in my opinion. I have since left multiple voicemails and spoke with other staff who said this is not the first of the issues with her or the program. Oh and what was most comical, when I was attending an appt for my second pregnancy, I was told if I want to birth at the center, I would have to take several new classes which are not included in the price! Lol funny how that just so happened to come up several visits after I had been visiting and no one ever mentioned it or the pricing for it EVEN THO it was my second time. Super scam-worthy money scheme. I told the staff I didn't want to attend another appointment until I speak to the director and I was told if I miss one appointment, I I'll not be allowed to come back again during my pregnancy so if I want care, I have to throw in the towel on hoping for an apology or a promise that they are going to do better. So I left! No OBGYN is better than one that will prioritize bad care or any customer service, professionalism, or human decency. Many online postings about not getting refunds they were promised. GLENDA, if you read this before you comment try doing the right thing by reaching out to me directly as I have done many times to you INSTEAD of commenting to keep your image socially.

We had gone through USF IVF for IUI procedures and they were paid fully with no issue. We also had visited Bayfront Baby Place and an OB there, but were leaning toward home/natural birth instead. Our Auth included specific billing codes which were preapproved, so all that needed to be done was bill under these codes for care. I was contacted back by Judy and she immediately told us that it would be self-pay only, and they do not work with VA authorizations. I was a bit upset because of course this was new ground for both the VA, and Labor of Love, but I was requesting that we set up a time to come in, see the center, and if it seemed a good fit, we could have billing look over our Authorization/paperwork and see if the billing would work out, as it did with USF. We were not given the courtesy of a response. We were not responded to after a follow up email either. I am very sad to say that despite a glowing recommendation, and our efforts to work with Labor of Love, they are not interested. Not sure if that is because we are a lesbian couple, or because of our billing situation ... we will never know because we were not contacted further to discuss our options.

After seeing so many great reviews and recommendations for Buddha Bellies, we booked the birth and postpartum doula services and honestly couldn't be happier. You get a pair of birth doulas to ensure one is available for when you give birth. Both were knowledgeable, friendly, and super supportive throughout my pregnancy. After an initial zoom call to get to know each other, we had a group text chat to check in and answer any questions I might have. They also suggested things to bring to the hospital, like an essential oil diffuser that really helped me and the nurses loved. My on-call doula on the day my son was born was Susan, and she was a lifesaver!! She arrived at the hospital promptly (despite living an hour away) and helped keep my husband and I calm. My husband had to leave for an hour to bring our dog to his boarding location, and so I was so grateful I had Susan with me during that time. I tried to give birth without an epidural, and her magical massages literally saved me and brought me to 6cm dilated. At that time, I decided I definitely did want/need an epidural, and she was very supportive of my wishes. She honestly felt like she became family that day and was so dedicated to my comfort. I can't imagine having done this without her. We're now onto the postpartum doula phase, and while we just started with our overnight care, we are SO glad that we made the decision to have a postpartum doula (kind of like a night nurse in this scenario). So far, it has been absolutely wonderful--the doula is very caring and loving to my baby boy and gives me a few extra hours of sleep each night, which is invaluable. As newbie parents, she offers advice and reassurance that things (like infant gas!) are normal. We are able to sleep soundly knowing that our son is safe with her in the other room! The Buddha Bellies support staff have also been excellent. It was very easy to be matched with and interview doulas--we hired ours on the very first try, as they were all of amazing quality, friendly, and with great experience/reviews. We cannot recommend them more!

I started calling home birth midwives for doula referrals, and I was so lucky to connect with Charlie. She truly brought a piece of the home birth experience into the hospital room. Charlie was a fierce advocate, not only for me, but also an incredible source of support for my husband. She brought a sense of peace and calm to what felt like a very unknown and overwhelming situation. I felt completely safe with her by my side. Charlie helped us talk through every decision, making sure we felt informed and confident in our choices. Her support didn't end after the birth either, she consistently checked in postpartum and continued to care for our whole family. I truly can't recommend Charlie enough. She is an amazing, steady, and calming presence. Whether you're planning a home birth or just looking for strong, compassionate birth support, you are in the very best hands with Charlie. Her care extends beyond just mom, she supports the entire family.

I informed them I would be transferring care at 32 weeks. I told the owner that I would pay for any prenatal appointments I went to, but she made a bill with fees I was not aware of. My invoice was the exact amount I prepaid which is very suspicious. The invoice even said my $500 deposit was a charge for some reason instead of applied to my balance like the contract states. The invoice seemed to be made in a rush and its purpose to zero out my account so they could keep my money. I will add my entire experience after court. In the meantime, if you choose this midwifery, ask them to outline their fees and what you owe after every appointment to avoid this. Overall disappointed with Charlie's (owner) handling of this issue.
