I was very pleased with my experience at Holland Hats. My first Tilley hat was the wrong size but Bruce said simply send it back and we will ship you a new hat. Unfortunately, the correct size was on back order however Bruce put a rush order and everything worked out fine. I also strongly recommend buying your Tilley hat from a reputable hat company like Holland Hats. The first hat I ordered from another site had no tags and was folded like it was stuck in a car glove compartment for 2 years. Bruce told me Holland Hats will never send a hat without original Tilley tags. The packaging was in a box and wrapped so it arrived without creases and wrinkles. I ordered an expensive hat, size 59. They sent me a size 60 and it was too big. When I called, the owner said he did that on purpose, the hats run small in his opinion - and so he asked me to return the hat for exchange. I paid $45 at the post office to return the hat. I was never offered a return label or a credit for the cost to return it. When I brought this to Mr. Holland's attention his response was interesting: He said I should have spoken up sooner, he could have saved a lot on shipping because he as a better shipping rate. In other words - this was quite a bit my own fault. He did offer that if I buy another expensive hat he would take the $45 off, but that is not going to happen. He is not a person I want to deal with again. I really don't need a lecture for ordering a hat, getting the wrong size on purpose, returning it as asked, and then telling me it's mostly my fault that I have a bad feeling whenever I see an email from this business. Bruce Holland is such a nice, friendly man who gave me the best customer service possible. Terrible returns policy. I purchased a $149 hat from this company and found it didn't look good on me. Per the instructions, I sent the hat back to them with the tags still on and in their original box. I paid for return shipping at the post office and I paid them an additional $6.95 by check as a return fee for the initial shipping. I included this check inside the box. The company refunded me $117.70 of my $149 purchase price and this is after I compensated them for shipping costs. The refund is absolutely outrageous. I would never do business with this company again. read more

I received a hat as a gift from a friend. I really liked the hat, but it was too big. My friend had purchased it through Amazon, but it was the order was filled by an outside vendor, Holland Hats. So I went through Amazon's return procedures, got approval and sent the hat back. Still, I was unclear as to what would happen, as Amazon says returns result in a credit, but all I wanted was an exchange. I put a note to this effect in the box, but thought it best if I followed up with a phone call once Holland Hats had received the return. Bruce couldn't have been nicer and, in fact, informed me that he'd shipped my new hat a few days previous to our conversation, and that it was due to get to me the following day. Holland Hats is terrible company to dealing with. When you order from them on line, you never receive confirmation email or tracking number. When you return it, you need to pay return shipping fee, restocking fee plus original shipping fee. So, you will lost $30 for nothing and they don't even send you return label. I asked return policy before I ordered, they didn't mention any restocking fee and need to pay original shipping fee at all. When I decide to return it, I called to check instructions. They said just mail it back and include your name and address. So, I did exactly what they instructed. One week later, I still not receive credit. I called again, they said "Oh, you didn't put you want to get refund, so, we gave you store credit ". I actually never receive any email from them saying they give me store credit during whole week. It's very troubling business to deal with. read more

I use Tilley LTM6 hats for Ultramarathons in the Southwest as I live in Carlsbad, CA. After reviewing the options I phoned Holland Hats, desperately in need of a new one for Saturday's 32 miler in 90+ heat. This was on a Monday, so I contacted Bruce via phone and he said he would make sure it was shipped as soon as I placed my online order and that it would arrive on Thursday. Big headache. They sent my $90 hat via regular post a month and a half a ago. It has since disappeared without a trace since there is no tracking; a month with no update. I have been inquiring everyday where my hat is from Holland Hats. The owner told me I'm annoying and stop emailing him, and he will never sell me a hat again.
