Originating from the imperial kitchens, it is said that Kaiserschmarrn was created by accident when a chef, preparing pancakes for Emperor Joseph I, accidentally dropped them. Rather than discarding them, the chef cleverly added raisins, whipped egg whites, and powdered sugar before serving it to the emperor. Joseph I adored the creation securing its place in Austrian culinary history.
