After a huge renovation project it reopened four years after its closure with a concert given by Rick Wakeman. Last night we went to see 2 Kinds of' MAGIC' (ELO/QUEEN). Brilliant, I recon' the finest tribute to Queen and ELO in a show featuring all their greatest hits. Both underetaken with breathtaking precision - This was deffinately a must for all fans of Queen and ELO. The show finalised with a standing ovation clearly showing the expertise of the performance. Theatre pro: Stalls plenty of leg room, no need for an aisle seat. Good prices. cons: long way to the bar, and stairs. In the middle: Decorated in green, you either love it or hate it.

It is a lovely little cinema which struggles to keep going with funding from the council. It is very small but enough for a small town. It offers refreshments before and after the trailer starts - this does get busy to get in the queue early. We spoke with the manager when we were there and he was very friendly and helpful and allowed us to swap our tickets from evening to afternoon showing due to the rain.

Seating is by loose chairs so leg room will depend on the number of expected audience (max 220). There is a licenced bar and drinks can be ordered for the interval. It currently plays host to various productions and live music concerts and serves the local and wider community as an ideal venue for craft fairs, exhibitions, drama/exercise classes, birthday parties and wedding receptions. Waveney District Council are currently seeking to offload the expence of running the Hall due to the current financial climate. Hopefully a suitable charity will take on the running of this succesful venue.

There is an inhouse cafe and bar which is open during the day and evenings if there is a performance. This theatre is one of 13 designed by david Fisher and build around East Anglia. I don't know if any more are still standing. This one was first opened in 1828. You will see many historic items on display recovered during restorations and the orriginal (reconstructed) pit in the atmospheris cellar. There is an unusually broad programme of arts events and reasonable prices and consessions with tickets easily booked on line. The theatre is also used as a cinema.

There is a small fee for adults, I suppose to dissuade from bringing four adults with one child, like we did. It's not ideal but becoming more common with places like that.
