I love stopping in when we're in the area. Best beef jerky in the state hands down. Maybe even the best in the country - prove me wrong! They have coolers of prepackaged meat snacks, cheeses and cases of various meat in different cuts for cooking up at home. This place is top notch and the workers are super friendly and knowledgeable. Not just "hey there tourist" friendly, but genuinely so. If you keep an ear open you'll hear that they aren't having the same scripted conversation with every customer. I find that endearing and it makes me feel more appreciated. The store is fairly large and full of enticing tourist traps like more cheese, candy, wine, sodas, beer and other items. But it's not done in a kitschy sense, more like carefully curated vignettes of interest. Do I fall for these? You betcha! But I mostly budget for all the beef jerky I can carry. Seriously. I found out that I can order online to have it shipped to my house. I wept a little with joy. So, do I recommend that you make a special trip to the Holmen Meat Locker for beef jerky? I love beef jerky. I love Holmen Locker & Meats' beef jerky. They offer a wide range of jerky from teriyaki to mild, spicy to Telmex and more; all brilliant. I especially appreciate the thickness of their jerky, generous half-inch slabs about 6 inches long. There exists out there in the world jerky that approximates dry, stringy sinew, the upside to which is you can floss your teeth with such jerky. Thank my lucky stars such jerky is not on offer at Holmen Locker & Meats. If you, like me, experience the need to urgently consume jerky, you could do much, much worse than spending your treasure at Holmen Locker & Meats. read more

Fresh meat! About as cool as a small town butcher shop can be. This little shop on Main St in Holmen is a true gem. The meats are so good you'll never go back to grocery store steaks, hamburger or ribs ever again. It's a bit pricier but the quality is more than worth it. A variety of beers and beverages. And try the Habanero Sticks if you like spicy meat sticks. They are incredible. Ride your bike to the shop for some ice cream in the summer as well! read more

One of the best meat lockers in the area. The staff is friendly, polite and knowledgeable about every item they sell. The meats are fresh, wonderful selection (pork, chicken, beef, cheese, wine and much more) and I have never had a poor experience here. If you want 1lb of beef or half of a cow, the Holmen meat locker will be able to accommodate all of your needs. Holmen might be out of the way but it is worth the drive! read more

I love this place. I will stop by when I am in the area and stock up on meat. They smoke their own meat, and have a great jerky selection. The meat is high quality. The gift shop has a great selection of beer, wine, and locally produced items. The family that owns it has always been very accommodating and you can tell they love their business. This interesting place is what appears to be a top-notch meat a sausage store but has several other things like craft beer, wine, and cooking items. One quirky thing is that it had Trader Joe's items. Which I've never seen outside of a Trader Joe's store. read more

I drive past five grocery stores to buy meat for the Holmen Locker. I just ordered our annual Labor Day party steaks. 1.5 inch thick sirloins, it takes 12 pounds to feed this group. Everyone always raves about how tender and tasty they are. Other favorites include beef jerky, bacon and their double smoked hams. I have never been disappointed. Definitely worth the drive. read more

The quality of the meat was great. The service leaves allot to be desired. After the girl working the meat counter finally finished dealing with her relative, she wasn't very knowledgeable about their products. I finally got what I wanted and moved to the register, and began to have my order rung up with 5 people behind me. The relative of the employee was upset she didn't get a big enough discount, so comes up, interrupts my sale by butting in with the employee and proceeds arguing with the owners son, running the register about the discount. 7 minutes later, cause the register kid can't multi task while on the phone with his mom I get rung up. I should have gone to Festival. Better service and more knowledgeable employees read more
