The deliveries of stone went very smoothly, and the stones themselves are really terrific (see photo). Building a wall with these is admittedly a lot of work -- they are 65lb each, so we were pretty tired -- but they are worth it in the end. The stones are definitely a step above what you will find in big box stores. There are helpful videos on YT and on the Mutual Materials website about how to install a proper foundation for your wall with 4-6" of crushed rock compacted and leveled underneath, as well as a good drain system behind it (otherwise even a short wall will buckle and sink due to inadequate compaction underneath and hydrostatic pressure and freeze/thaw cycles pushing it up and out).

I hired LCC, not because they were cheaper (they actually weren't) than the quote from Lowe's &…read moreHome Depot, but simply because they were able to schedule my granite countertop install within a week. The other guys were out 3-4 weeks, so I decided to hire LCC. I shouldn't have been so antsy! A portion of my granite looks terrible and I am very disappointed in their response to my complaint. Apparently we had a miscommunication; Winnie (the sales person) insists that she communicated to me that the grain direction would be different at the seam, but Obviously, I did not understand what was going to happen. As you can see in my pictures, a small piece had to be cut next to my stove. It was cut off the end of a larger piece and turned the opposite way, with the grain turned 90 degrees. I'm shocked that they would install such poor craftsmanship (obviously to save money). If I would've understood what was going to happen, I would've chose a different granite that didn't have such a strong directional grain. Winnie said she would give me a discount on another slab, but I'd still be liable for $400! This is unacceptable, and shotty work, at best! To top it off, the installers were messy & didn't clean everything up in my driveway. They should've had a tarp underneath the saws to collect the dust. I have to pressure wash my driveway to get rid of the sediment. I've posted pictures of their mess as well. I wouldn't recommend this company, they're clearly more interested in cutting corners than producing a quality looking project.

Ace was sold out, Lowe's & Home Depot didn't carry the brand. The guys at Brookedale Lumber are courteous, competent and customer service oriented. The fact they are close to my home is an added bonus for me. So if you need home improvement pieces or wood this is your stop. They are AWESOME!
