There's a nice playground for the younger kids and a covered picnic area for families and groups to congregate. There's only two baseball fields but they were in great condition despite the heavy rain that fell on this area a couple of days ago. The men's restroom was in excellent condition. I think that the concession area could use a little bit more diversity. The snacks seemed a bit limited. It was a toss-up between three stars and four. I opted to go up with four stars because my Yorkie Lucy was welcome.

Apparently there's some connection between the sport of baseball and Christian teaching. The connection has escaped me for the time being. I remember as a small child hearing many heroic stories about this or that person getting home-runs, all kinds of base hits etc. In its heyday various local textile mills sponsored their own teams and a league was formed. Sadly the remains of this once great baseball field of honor is now just another relic of the past.

Not being the best time manager, I sometimes have to recalculate my arrival time and this is a great place to stop. There are signs posted around town about a meeting to discuss what I perceive to be improvement s to the park. This would be a great spot to place different amusements for kids such as swings, slides, monkey bars, etc. This is only one of two parks that I know of that are federally compliant. Federal law requires public parks to be able to facilitate complete access to all of these places pinpointing the physically disadvantaged! Just a few amenities for children ( along with some updated rules ) would be nice. A new playground available to all children would bring a lot of much needed business to the Main Street area. It's a win, win, for the city!

Of course at nine and six years old respectively, they are 100% looking forward to this little trip. This facility is located on beautiful Lake Whelchel in Gaffney, S.C. This complex is named after a beloved commissioner of our Local Board of Public Works, Mr. Roger D. Harris an avid fisherman himself. Even if the fish aren't biting, this should still be fun!
