However, some of the professors were unprofessional in their teachings, so I'm not sure how they were qualified to teach. There were also magnificent professors that would go out of their way in order to see you succeed. Parking was atrocious before but I'm glad they have a parking garage now. I wished they would have had that when I was in school pre covid. It would have saved me lots of aggravation from finding a parking space. Yeah, there were many times that if you didn't get there early enough then you would be searching for parking in the nearby neighborhoods. They had many lots before but they got filled up way too fast. Cafeteria was very decent. The food they served was good, average quality but a nice variety. The labs for doing your nursing skills were superb. The simulation dummy was very helpful and modern. It was used to help you understand how a real patient would be. The clinical sites they sent us ranged from hospitals to nursing homes to schools. The downside is they would send me to Rockford one day and then Chicago the second day. They should have organized it a lot better. Clinical instructors for the most part were very compassionate and attentive in their guidance. The ATI program they used was worthless and not a very good tool for helping nursing students. That was a waste of money in my opinion. I didn't even use it when studying it for my license. Tuition was expensive for each semester. For the amount of money they charged, they should have brought in the parking garage sooner and better quality food. I commuted so I didn't have to stay in the dorms. Overall I give it about a 3.

Be prepared to show ID at the gate and we were also were selected for a random car screening. It was a hot, sunny day so the bison were just laying around in a clump. I would like to return when it is cooler outside to see if they would be more active. As others have shared, there are restricted areas. I don't know why, but driving through here feels like a step back in time and into a sci fi movie set. It's an intriguing place to visit if you are in the area.

They will give you a map if you ask so you get a better layout of the area. There are designated areas for visitors and YOU MUST stay in those areas. Trails are marked but not very well mowed so expect to walk in ankle deep grass. Bring bug spray. Park by the red barn as there is a circular trail along the water..but keep going left to stay in the trail. You can also park near the Bison Field and walk on the path to see the Bison located on the main road. The Science Center has limited hours so check the website for info. We did not go into the Center. If you are into birding or nature,take a visit to Fermilab.

The director and staff at COA in Oswego are so unprofessional on many levels. I am going to start by saying my son (who happens to have mild Autism) was hired as a Teaching Assistant. This was told to them on his resume, as well as discussed at the interview. He was hired at COA about 6 months ago. Since being hired, he has been picked on, made to do work that other TA's are not made to do ( ex. clean all floors and toys in all classrooms). Written up for incidents that were embellished by other staff as a means to get him in trouble. Treated with disrespect and now after today called a racist because of a mis-pronunciation of a last name. His own family is comprised of 4 different races. He doesn't have a mean or racist bone in his body. My son, even through all of this, has continued to show up and work every day. He has taken the 10:30 am lunch even when he got to work at 9 am and others have been working since 6 am. He never complained about this unfair treatment due to feeling like he could lose his job all the time. It was evident in his anxiety that he felt left out and not supported at all. He recently had his hours cut, supposedly due to lack of enrollment. Although the center hired 4 new staff since he was hired and he was the staff with hours cut to 15 hours a week. They have treated him like he wouldn't know better and continuously pick on him. They expected him to be alone in a classroom, and because he spoke up and said he wasn't comfortable with this, his hours were cut. What a sad and unfortunate work experience for a young man who just felt he would like to work with young children. As he comes from a family who fostered other children throughout his life. He has had experience working and caring for kids quite a bit, just not in the daycare setting. As his Mom, I really felt this would be a great opportunity for him. How sad of COA to treat someone who is "different " with such disrespect that he no longer wants to work in an environment like that. I doubt you would want your children attending a place that treats their employees this way either. I know I wouldn't. If I thought my son could have written this himself, I would have him do so. His disabilities don't define him. His heart does. We will move on from here, but not without speaking our TRUTH.

No accident/injury/illness/issue goes without advanced notice to the parent directly and a written report for home and school files.
