My eldest just went off to college on a scholarship to a music conservatory and it was (partly) due to him starting off as a Sprout. His brother 1 year behind him is an Eagle Scout now. They were encouraged to explore, learn and be themselves in the kindest way possible. The fact that some of the teachers have been there over 20 years speaks VOLUMES to the caliber of care taken to retain employees, and with that comes caring educators. My girls are absolute ambassadors of OKS, as I see the totality of what Oak Knoll offers, in them. The teachers and faculty are like family, the care they exude is ever so natural and nurturing. Don't get me started on the academics. In the lower school, the classes are interwoven. I was actually intrigued to learn that in the sixth grade for instance, as the origin of the golden ratio was being taught in math class, the students were also being shown how it was applied to the Mona Lisa painting in their Arts class, it's application in the Renaissance era in Social Studies, and there was reference to the concept in Science, and even in the library classes. My sixth grader was absolutely fascinated relating her experience. As for the nurturing environment, you can sense the importance of core values in the school, it only takes one visit to feel it in the air. The students are also exposed to practical religious tenets, helping those in need, etc. I honestly cannot say enough about Oak Knoll. They also take two year olds, not just two and a half year olds, like other schools. And they change diapers! The director is really educated and practical, which is very refreshing. The curriculum is age-appropriate and focuses a lot on social skills which is so important at the preschool level. In addition, the preschool provides many additional activities such as lunch bunch and enrichment programs. An extra bonus is curbside service. The wonderful teachers will take the children out of the car at the start of school and put them back in at the end of school. Parents never need to leave their cars! My daughter is very shy and was hesitant to start school. After one day at the Gingham Giraffe Preschool, she could not wait to go back! She loved it so much that we decided to send her an additional day. My husband and I truly feel blessed to have our daughter in such an amazing preschool! There was an issue with bullying in one of my child's class this year. The issue was handled in great form and everything was much better afterwards. Bullying will happen. But Pingry dealt with it fairly and gracefully. Our experience with the Pingry community is one of positivity, support, excellent educational opportunities, amazing and dedicated teachers & administration...I can't say anything bad about this wonderful school! It's a privilege to attend a school like this, but it's not a school of privileged children. They are an ethnically diverse, socio-economically diverse, and religiously diverse community with a lot to offer children of all ages.
