I tried this massage with Groupon and it was fantastic. Located in a serpentine complex of small little booths in Glendale, nearby to the Home goods, Vianne's little room is kind of hard to find. It's a small room but cozy. The massage table has a heating pad and when you put your head down I think an air purifier. I like the soft blue light and the spa music being played. Vianne is very communicative during the whole massage and adjusts pressure accordingly. It was a great massage, and I've already recommended to others to try. The good: Holy cannoli! What a great massage! I got a Groupon for two one hour Swedish massages and it was the best deal I've ever seen. I don't think you can get more bang for your buck. I didn't expect much from the massage because the price was so low but this was an amazing massage. I've had dozens of massages across the United States and this was one of the best experiences I've had. I had many knots in my upper back and other knots that I didn't know existed until they were massaged out. The massage therapist, Vianne, was easily able to locate and release the tension in them. She was very accommodating. I was running late and was going to arrive 30 minutes late but she was still able to accommodate me and was so polite and friendly about it. She offered water and always checked in with me to ensure that she was giving the right amount of pressure and that I was comfortable. The heated massage bed was super cozy and relaxing. I liked that the room was dimmed with a glowing purple light. It made the space feel more relaxing and soothing. I always thought massage therapy is a very tough job since it is so physically demanding on the therapist. I greatly appreciate all of you massage therapists out there working hard especially during these tough COVID times when business may be low and your job involves exposing yourself and touching people. I really liked how this studio was set inside a larger office building with tons of other salons and beauty services. It's a very cool concept that I've seen pop up a lot more in recent years. You can find her studio from the directory in the front of the Phenix Salon Suites. The bad: There a public parking garage but it costs money if you park for over 90 minutes. There is minimal street parking around here. There is no ambient music playing (that I recall) during the massage. There are frequent verbal check-ins from the massage therapist during the session. I am sure you can ask for fewer if this isn't your cup of tea. The interesting: You call to make an appointment but the the automated phone message tells you to text. I saw some other people leaving poor reviews about communication. Vianne is a female entrepreneur running her own business in a country she did not grow up in. Vianne is caring, attentative, and gets the job done. I've been to her twice and have already bought multiple Groupons and scheduled appointments ahead of time (at least once a month). I've had an increase of upper back pain due to the tension I hold in during work. After just one session, she massaged the kinks out and now my back has relaxed so much that I don't need as much work as the first session. Finally had a massage scheduled weeks ago for tomorrow evening in West LA. Was just informed THIS MORNING that the location has now moved to Glendale. Unbelievable!! Worst massage therapist I've ever dealt with In response to the comment, it's not just about the last minute location change, but about the complete lack of communication & not being able to get a response for DAYS to set up appointments. But seriously, who just picks up & moves to a new location?? You can't tell me you weren't planning this a lot sooner. Vianne did a great job getting rid of my aches and pains today. This is my second visit to her. She is a very special person. She constantly checks if everything is okay, if you're warm enough, cool enough, if the pressure is what you want. I feel really bad about writing this review, but it had to be done. I purchased a Groupon from this establishment and was very much looking forward to getting a treatment. I have tried to get in contact with this place for a while now-- no answered phone calls with no ability to leave a voicemail, unanswered emails, not even a text message back. This is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. Maybe I would've got a response if I was booking a regular service, who knows: It looks like I got ripped off and I'm not happy about it. They have the wrong hours posted on the doors. They will not let you inside unless you call first but they also will not answer the phones because, according the the massage therapist, she can't answer phones, she's too busy doing massages. Drove all the way there for my appointment that was made a month ahead of time only to be left standing outside. Vienne is a wonderful masseuse. She customized my massage and frequently checked if I wanted more or less pressure. I had recently had some surgery and she discussed ahead of time the best way to massage those areas. She worked my hands and arms too, something I feel other masseuses rush through. Of course it was a full body massage as well. Very clean and professional massage studio. Massage table was one of the more modern and comfortable ones I've been on. Used great unscented lotion. I have never told her about my sciatica or any other problems I may be experiencing when I come in but she always finds them and fixes everything. When I leave, I'm walking normally without any pain. Vianne is a very caring and gifted massage therapist. I highly recommend a deep tissue massage. I don't remember the last time I felt this relaxed. As I walked to my car I felt a huge difference all over. She found all my trouble spots very easily and worked at my comfort level. I actually just came back from the massage and had to write a review! I purchased a groupon for full body sweedish massage with hot stones and booked appointment online. I made sure my spot was confirmed by texting her since nothing is sure cause of COVID. Vianne replied right away and confirmed my appointment. The actual space is in Phenix Salon suites and you have to text her to let her know that you are at the front then she will come and get you (per building's protocol due to COVID). You can park at the public parking for 90 min free then they charge $1/ 30 min I think. The massage itself was good. I have received many many different kinds of massages in different spots of OC and LA. Out of all, Vianne was the most attentive masseuse ever; Yes, there is somewhat of language barrier BUT she listens to you and focuses on the areas that needs to be worked on. She kept making sure the pressure was ok and also really worked with those hot stones! PLUS, she combined both swedish and deep tissue as some parts of me required deeper pressure and massage. A relaxing Swedish massage while concentrating on my injured shoulder was the plan. A true Swedish massage, what a treat! She began with circular handwork with very good pressure; occasionally asking if it was comfortable, always communicating. Vianne recognized tense muscles in my shoulder and acknowledged them by firmly kneading and stretching. My arm was a bit numb for hours before my session because of my injury, my circulation was restored with a greater range of motion when I left. She was very good at scheduling the appointment easily and she was very kind to talk to. The office is located inside Phenix Salon Studios in a really nice Glendale neighborhood. During the massage, she was very professional and a good listener when it came to pressure points and muscle tension. Her office is very clean and private; best of all the space had extravagant features like a heated massage table, lavender and lemon essential oils, soothing music, hot stones (which I had never tried before and she was very careful with!), relaxing blue lighting, and a complimentary water bottle. I am being so kind and detailed in my review because I think she works really hard to make it a good experience and more people should come here! Support such a hard worker. Perfect massage by Vianne. Swedish morphed wonderfully into deep tissue. She finds all the knots and works the arms and hands and even the tense parts of the scapula --- something I have never gotten in a massage. This place is not a salon! Not even worth the $47 Groupon cost. Its just 1 tiny room. The masseuse did not speak English. They are in a large building with tons of other little rooms - all separate businesses. They never answer the phone when I called to confirm or returned the call from the message I left. When I couldn't find the place which made me a few minutes late, she texted me to ask if I was on my way and I was. When I called the number for help with finding them she didn't answer. She finally called me and that's how I realized she didn't speak English enough to explain how to get there. She was silent almost at every question I would ask. I finally found them in this bizarre maze of tiny rooms in this large building. The room is so tiny all she does is turn her back while you change. She just kept asking me if I was OK or if I wanted more pressure. She started the massage with frozen cold hands and cold oil. She said sorry my hands cold. If she was a real masseuse she would know that that is unacceptable and she would have a way to warm her hands like warm water from the sink. I have no idea if she was licensed. The massage was terrible. It came with a "face mask" which was just one of those paper ones you buy at the drugstore. And guess what after my massage she put a frozen cold face mask on my face. About 15 minutes into my massage somebody opened the door without even knocking and flipped on all the lights. Of course I asked what was that. She said sorry that was my food being delivered. I have had many many massages and facials in lots of salons. This was the worst. And to top it off it's located in Glendale. I'm asking for my money back from Groupon. Any good reviews that they may have must be their friends lying if anyone had experience anything like mine. There are tons of great salons around. Not being able to locate them made me almost 15 minutes late and guess what, she was able to make sure she ended exactly 90 minutes after the appointment time and not 90 minutes after the start time.
