I scheduled a massage for myself for my birthday. The day and time were confirmed by text, phone, and email. On the day of my massage, I arrived early as instructed. I was checked in, answered all questions, and taken to the "quiet room" to wait for my therapist. The start time for my appointment came and went. No one came for me. I went out to the lobby to ask if my massage was supposed to have started, since it was past my appointment time. Someone came out, whom I assume was the manager, and told me there had been a "scheduling error." Really? When you confirmed with me not once but three different times? To be fair, I was offered a later time with a different therapist as well as a discount. However, this was my birthday, and I had plans for the rest of my day. I realize things happen, but I would rather have a business be honest with me about why my appointment was canceled after I'd already been checked in than tell me it was a "scheduling error" after confirming with me three times. I know each person has different experiences but I haven't had a bad one yet and I've been coming to this location for a while. Don't waste your time here. I went for a regular massage and I was charged twice on my credit card. I called to see if they can fix it and they told me that they only see one charge on their end. I have my bank statement proving that I was double charged so I filed a claim with my bank. I was reimbursed my $70 back. I used to love this place but today, I had an appt that I set up the night before hoping it would help my back pain. Around 40 min before appt, my sciatica nerve pain flared up so bad I couldn't take a step. I couldn't walk! I called several times, no answer only voicemail. Left messages to call back, nothing. I have received several massage services with Alba and have enjoyed every experience and will miss her. In addition, I was a victim of fraud and had to cancel my debit card and couldn't remember everyone who I set up auto pay for services. I just encountered one of the most unprofessional rude experiences from a manager representing Massage envy of Lancaster by the name of Crystal... I had a massage scheduled for this Sunday and received a nasty text message telling me that my massage appointment had been canceled... I spoke to Crystal the manager of massage envy of Lancaster and expressed my scenario and She Expressed no empathy did not care but proceeded to tell me we've been trying to reach you with a vary... I could care less attitude which was felt over the phone. This would have been the opportunity to obtain the new card information. Instead, I was treated less than human. I was treated like some sort of stain. I bought one and mid year developed a heart condition rendering me unable to drive. We live about 30 min to the closest franchise, kids a big as to have a friend drive me round trip just so I can have a massage. ME won't accept a doctors note for a refund. We are visiting from out of state and transferred a credit from our membership and scheduled a massage a week prior to our trip. Unfortunately the morning of my wife's massage she tested positive for Covid-19. When she called to inquire how to proceed in order to protect the well being of the employees and guests she was informed that since she was "canceling" same day she would lose her credit, I.e. not get a refund or be allowed to reschedule. Complete lack of customer service and empathy. We are continuing to pursue this with Massage Envy corporate, but beware of this location. Please make sure you make note of your time getting there and leaving. make sure it's only 5 minutes in the beginning and at the end that you are left with getting dressed and undressed. I booked a 60 minute facial and was out of there 30 minutes later this time includes me getting dressed and after her set up. If you book a Facial through the app( thru memberships service )you're really not getting 60 or 90 minutes service . the most is 45 minutes of your lucky (that includes the 10 minutes getting dressed and undressed) so you have lost a 60 minute service session for less time. they don't tell you that when you book it and they don't advertise that on the app when you are booking the appointment. You have 2 options to chose from 60 minute service or 90 minute service . That does not mean they'll honor that time for your facial. I spoke to manager about this he said this is something he doesn't have control over, this is corporate. when in doubt call in as ask questions cause the app is false advertisement if you don't ask they won't tell you. If you don't mind using your paid 60 minute session for a 30 minute facial then well it won't be a problem. I felt cheated because there was no where on the website or the app advising otherwise. So I used my 60 minute credit on a 30 minute facial including the dressed time. Please please whatever you do ask questions before you get a membership. It definitely lacks transparency! I was well overdue for a massage and when I got to the Massage Envy in Lancaster....I had a crook in my neck...ouch...so I requested extra services with the massage gun.....baby....when I tell you that crook went from a level 8 pain to a level 2....I couldn't do nothing but order extra stuff...lol! I called to set an appointment about 1 hour ago for 215. I just got a call advising my 90 year old grandmother whom resides with me tested positive for COVID. I contacted the Lancaster location and spoke with the manager Chrystal to inform her. She advised she still has to charge me because it's a cancellation within 15 minutes. I told her fine I'll come in she then said because someone in my household tested positive that I can't come in, but the are still charging me. They didn't offer to reschedule due to the fact that this was beyond my control and I told them for their safety. She was extremely inconsiderate and had no sympathy for the situation at all. I will never do business with this location again! There was not an ounce of concern and the customer service was horrible. Extremely inconsiderate. The problem is I know she could have easily rescheduled the appointment, she did not even give me that option given the situation. I just received a call from the owner of the Lancaster location. Charles listened to my concerns and was extremely considerate. He thanked me for being considerate of his staffs health and well being. I'm grateful for him taking the time to contact me so quickly. I honestly didn't expect that seeing that Chrystal advised no one was above her. It showed me that the owners truly care about their clients as well as their brand. I realized I had over $500 in Massage Envy gift cards. I went into Massage Envy and booked two 90 minute massages a couple weeks apart. The massages were great. When I came out of my second massage I tried to book a third 90 minute massage and only had one more gift card on me. I had a few more at home. We booked a date and time. The young lady helping me said she could not book my $190.00 massage without the other gift cards. So I assumed payment guarantee was needed. I handed her my credit card. She said she could not take a credit card to book my appointment. We went back and forth for about 15 minutes between her and another gentleman. I could not believe they would not let me book my appointment. My relaxing massage ended in total frustration. I cancelled my next booking and took my gift card and credit card and left. I assumed I would get a call from management to rectify what is a ridiculous policy and nobody bothered to reach out. I booked my next massage in Valencia to use my last gift cards. They had no issue taking my appointment and letting me bring my gift cards at the time of my appointment. Now I remember why I have not gone to the Lancaster branch. This Massage Envy in Lancaster is the absolute best. The facility is really clean and very relaxing. The people, though! Everyone who works here is an absolute joy. They're so accommodating and they work so hard to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, and sometimes I feel like I'm part of their family (it's a family-owned location). I also don't feel like anyone here is pushy about having you purchase products or upgrades. I like to try out different masseuses and estheticians, and I've only ever had great experiences with each one. The sheets are soft here and I love that the tables can be heated if you'd like more warmth. It is with such disappointment and frustration that I write this review, and at the same time I do hope it prevents another experience like this from occurring, even if it's just for one person. I also want to make clear I do not want anything other than that from this post. I have been a member of Massage Envy Lancaster since January 2020, and while there have been a couple of times I was displeased, I never complained because I get things happen. However, I was treated with such disrespect by Charles recently that by the end of the call I felt hurt and confused by his actions. I am a child therapist and on the day of my appointment I had a client go into crisis, meaning they were suicidal. I called ME and explained the situation while asking if the appointment could be bumped back to a later time. I was notified that if I wanted to do that, I would have to pay the same day cancellation fee (half the cost of the appointment, $27.50), plus I would have to upgrade to a 90min massage and pay that full fee. I could get behind the upgrade to the 90min, however, I was taken aback that I'd have to pay the cancellation fee when I was *rescheduling* for an *emergency* situation. I am legally obligated to stay with my client in crisis until other support arrives. When I explained this, I was put on hold, only to have the same thing reiterated. - This was not the first time something like this happened. When ME re-opened during COVID, I woke up on the day of one of my appointments and had symptoms. Their waiver told me not to come in. I never tested positive for COVID so I was charged the full no show fee because I couldn't prove I was sick. - So I told them to charge the fee and asked to cancel my membership. I was told I'd be "put on the list" for a manger to call me. Charles called me later in the day and before I could even explain the situation he began explaining to me that the staff is trained to tell customers the cancellation policy and then reiterated said policy. He never even asked my reason for *rescheduling*. I then explained my reasoning - with him attempting to interrupt to reiterate the cancellation policy again - when I was finally able to get to the part about having a suicidal client, he paused and then doubled down with stating, "well if you could prove it, we'd waive it". Which I obviously cannot because that would be breaking my client's confidentiality. When I noted this, his reply was essentially that people like to avoid cancellation fees (aka, they lie) so ME only accepts if you have proof. Side bar - that would be really sick of me to lie about something like this. And, there are many instances I can think of where a person *cannot* provide proof of their emergency and it is sad they are not treated with dignity and respect. What is also frustrating about this situation is there have been at least 3 occasions ME has called me the *same day* asking me to come in early because they had a cancellation. When I agreed and helped them fill a slot, I never got a half credit for this. Even worse was that Charles had the audacity to tell me that the reason for the $27.50 was because that therapist wouldn't have the opportunity to fill that slot. This is wild to me for several reasons, (1) I know they will be texting people to fill that slot, (2) I was also filling a later slot that was just as likely/unlikely to be filled as the original slot, (3) I was upgrading so they'd make more money from me that day anyway, (4) We all know that $27.50 is not going to the therapist (which I said and he did not deny). Charles' reply to that was a robotic, "well, it's a same day cancellation". Well, actually, it's a same day reschedule. I told him we obviously were going to disagree and asked again to cancel my membership. He then proceeded to again inform me he would be charging me $27.50 and asked if I was sure I wanted to cancel my membership. When I said yes, he proceeded to "kindly" let me know there was no cancellation fee for that because I'd been with them over a year and was not in contract. My reply was that it was horrifically sad, hurtful, and confusing that he would rather lose a loyal customer - that spends typically $160 a month - over $27.50 due to that customer rescheduling because she was in the process of trying to *prevent a person from taking their own life.* I said this to him and he told me, "have a nice day". I truly can't explain how hurt and confused I felt in that moment. I still can't wrap my brain around how cold he was, when during the entire call I treated him with the upmost respect - I did not deserve to be treated in such a dismissive manner. I cannot support a business that does not support mental health, that doesn't understand that when you put community and people first - they will uplift you in return. read more

Today was my first time visiting the Lancaster location (I'm from Palm Springs and very attached to that Massage Envy) and after reading MANY of these reviews, I was so worried about having a run in with "Carol"! Instead, I enjoyed a WONDERFUL massage by Taya. The woman knows anatomy and boy can she read the body. She identified all of my trouble areas and worked out the kinks. It was a truly phenomenal experience. The front desk ladies were very friendly and (thankfully) everyone practiced social distancing and adhered to the safest business guidelines, something I really appreciated. Ive gone to a couple different massage envy's and I have learned to have very low standards when arriving, but I specifically looked up online to try to find a decent location, which is how I landed at the Lancaster ME. I had a gift card for a facial and a certificate for a facial upgrade. I got the microdermabrasion and I have to say honestly I could have done a better job at home with my PMD. Sure the staff is nice, but I can't stand getting a 40 min facial when any other spa it would be 1 hr for almost the same price. It says 1 hr on the appointment slot, but in the fine print they say they can take out 10 min before and after your appointment in "dressing", but you don't even change your clothes for a facial!! After the facial I went to pay with my gift card and free upgrade certificate, and the receptionist said that the person who rang up the certificate did it incorrectly so I will have to pay $40! They told me this after taking my $15 tip! No I am not paying $40 on top of a $70 gift card and certificate because the company messed up. No way in hell is a 40 min facial $110! Let alone a mediocre facial! After 30 min of going back and forth and calling the other massage envy, the staff said he will deal with the certificate, but underlined the part that says "redeem certificate before the start of the treatment", and told me next time I come make sure I read the fine print. Oh there's no way in hell am I wasting my time and money on a ME. I honestly hate getting massage envy gift cards, its like getting a gift card to a time share lunch. Me & my sister got gift cards enough for 2 massages for 60 mins. The staff were friendly. We have gotten massages before so we are not new to them. My sister was upset of the amount of talking happening durning her massage. Walking out of there we both were very disappointed We have so much pain in our backs since the massage & walking in there there was none.
