This…read morechurch is made to look good on the outside and inside as long as you attend regularly, get involved in some way (Volunteer, Attend Groups, Put your kids in youth groups, and made it a priority to connect with other families alike). Which sounds great. But if someone in your family receives a mental health diagnosis and you go to any of the pastors for help or prayer, they will essentially shun you or faze you out. All of those "connections" you have made, and any monetary contributions you give to the church won't matter because in their eyes, they have to protect their "brand". Your "friends" won't view you the same once this information get's out. There isn't support for this situation in CVC church. My family had to learn the hard way. It caused a lot of hurt. This church runs on how you present yourself and your family as well as how other people that attend this church perceive you. The church doesn't want acknowledge this type of situation. They want to avoid anything that may seem heavy or messy to them. This church thrives on fitting the mold. The "perfect" families, attendance, opportunities to get involved. This is intentional. My family, they are good people, who did everything "right" in the churches eyes, until they came for help. I wouldn't wish any of what we went through on someone else. I've kept quiet for a long time on this topic. I just feel that it is important for people to understand what we didn't.

A mega/large or any church can only be fully evaluated by attending various venues; if then? And…read moreonly if you engage with these venues on a person to person, eye to eye level; several different times. The Large Sanctuary venue is only one of the venues and is the least revealing of the heart of the matter. The most important venues for church revelation are the classes offered, the small groups that meet regularly for "real church" where needs can be met, specific prayer can happen, Sharings can be shared, etc. Also, what is the emphasis for outside the Building; i.e. outreach, local, and global? When evaluating anyone or anything, we see through a glass darkly and only when I am face to face with the Reality of a Church will I make a fair and more accurate evaluation. These points are what bring The Reality, the truth of the matter ?:(a.) Biblical Worldview? (b.) the People interaction with you and others c. Do I have something to give, not just take in this church setting (d). is this church a giving to others body of Believers? Remember the old saying " can you tell a book by just looking at the cover" ?

It was my…read morefirst time ever attending this church and going to a Latin Mass for that matter and I was truly in awe of the beauty, sacredness, and reverence that was portrayed; I never experienced anything like this before; it was beyond words. A little bit of background on why I decided to attend this church and Mass with my two friends -- we watched this documentary (https://latinmass.com/watch) as part of a group I'm in. In my entire life, I never thought to attend a Latin Mass as I was more accustomed to the one I grew up with. Before watching the video, my assumptions and personal vendettas (if you will) about not going to a Latin Mass actually prevented me from going; one could say it was Satan/his demons influencing me to not go, especially given how I wept during the consecration as the priest lifted up the host (which again, has never happened to me before). In reflecting on that video and seeing what the Latin Mass actually demonstrated was beyond what I can even put into words. I couldn't believe how much the Mass was in alignment with the tradition and teaching of the Church, which goes back to the reverence and devotion we're called to. There are so many clear things that I see now that the Latin Mass gets right that should be more clear in the Mass I am accustomed to. The things that really stuck out to me the most at this Mass, which also relates back to the video, was the fact: -- The Mass isn't about me -- it's about God. The priest, in Persona Christi, is clearly offering the Mass to God the Father on behalf of all of us there present. -- The sacredness, holiness, and silence given and portrayed through the Liturgy is exactly what God asks for; and that goes back Scripturally, even to the Old Testament. -- It was clear that I entered into the Kingdom of God when I was present there; it was like time didn't matter anymore; which is exactly what the Mass should do. I am so grateful for St. Rocco, which has such a beautiful church and wonderful priests who could help me see what God willed for us to experience--Heaven on earth through the Holy Mass.
