Me about to tuck into my amazing bangers and mash!
Gareth O.

Absolutely amazing food. I had the bangers and mash and it was the best meal I've had since coming to Oslo 6 months ago. Not only was the food good but the service was good too. Very friendly and attentive. I've only eaten out in a handful of places but I'd say this place is definitely good value for money. My girlfriend had the shepherds pie, which she let me taste and it too was delightful. The lamb had been slow cooked and just melted in the mouth. From now on anyone who comes to visit me is going to be taken here for some good hearty food, washed down with a nice craft beer. Cannot fault it.

This pulled duck sando was so awesome. I took it to the head with a side of jalapeño mayo (see picture).

You'll have a blast. Make sure it's karaoke night". I love watching karaoke so I was all about this. I wasn't sure if it was karaoke night, but I figured, regardless, I wanted to check this place out. I think I strolled in around 10:30-11:00 maybe? A few people out front smoking. Inside are two levels- the top a dance floor, the bottom, the pub. Two people were upstairs, that's it. I actually think they were employees just sitting there waiting for customers, but there were none. The action was downstairs. To my luck, it was karaoke night. I walked down the steps and immediately heard a rousing rendition of, "Careless Whisper". I knew I was in the right place. I picked up a rose cider which was around $12 USD and was able to sit down in the front row. A few songs played on the video screen accompanied by a girl who was interrupted by a very drunk man during her rendition of, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it). A few Norwegian songs were song, along with a couple American ditties that I can't remember. Sadly, karaoke ended at midnight, at least that evening. I laughed a lot that night. Such great energy and atmosphere here. When I'm back in Oslo, I'll be back at the Pub for sure.

Most of the time when you're in a city or a country that's much different than your own, you want to experience their food, but I was so intrigued but this concept that I had to check it out for myself. Sure enough, when I walked in I felt like I ended '50s America. This was a legit old-school diner, but with more wooden fixtures than the checkered patterns and plastic type seating that you may be thinking of. It still had the look and feel of a diner, but with a slightly more polished looked. The wait brought over the menu and a small glass of water. If nothing else, come here just to read the menu. It's hysterical. Small jokes within each menu item. I decided to get breakfast here so I got eggs, bacon, toast and French fries because the waiter didn't understand that I wanted home fries, but whatever. It's a potato so I ate it. The eggs were cooked exactly how I asked for them and the bacon was nice and crispy. Looking around, the milkshakes were passing me by constantly and these huge sandwiches. It really made me see how much we, as Americans consume. Their portions were out of this world big if you got a sandwich or something like that. My meal was just the right size, but as most things in Norway, it was expensive so I passed on the milkshake because I'm sure it was out of my budget. A fun experience none the less. I would take friends here the next time Im in town and if I was a local I'd probably be a regular here if I lived nearby.

I went because I wanted to see Norway's interpretation of a real American diner. It really wasn't bad, but I had to do a triple take when I got the bill. That said, the fries were hot and crispy, the Mac and cheese was delightfully creamy, and the burger was okay. I'd want to try their great-looking breakfast menu, but don't want to go broke for American food on my vacation.

On the menu, they list maybe like 5 whiskeys, but they have much more on their shelves. Too bad some of the bartenders I talked to didn't seem to be too knowledge on the selection, but nonetheless at least I was able to settle on one I wanted. The bartenders were more knowledgeable on their beers and they have a few different ones from all over on tap. For food, I really enjoyed their wings, they were by far one of the most tender I've had, with the meat easily coming off the bone. The "hot" sauce was not too hot, so I actually enjoyed it a lot. Get place for some bar food, beer, and to catch some football (not the American kind).

Came with small prawns in a thousand Island style sauce. Just bad. The herring: somehow this was sweet. We couldn't bear to finish it. The raw yolk made it just tolerable. The liver pate. This was toasted. In fact grilled & tasted more like blood sausage. Was ok. Just ok. The duck. Just awful! Dry, rubbery. Not a single redeeming feature to this dish. All dishes were served with pan fried mushrooms and tinned/pickled chopped beetroot, gherkins, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes & olives all from a jar came with the duck. Even the bread & salad were bland. The elk burger is no more. In short AVOID this place unless everything else is shut and you are prepared to spend KOR180 on a bad dish of food!

They have a truly astounding assortment of Aquavit and servers who know all about it and can explain the differences for the curious tourist. A bit in the pricier side but well, well worth it. The ambiance was to die for. We sat outside but in the winter the interior, full of mellow candlelight and awesome kitch in the walls (including a walk full of antique guns and swords) would do a lot to keep out the cold and make one feel warm and blissful. A great find!!
