The Vet at West Valley Veterinary Hospital will always be my number 1 choice for my pets. I was…read moresuper unfortunate to have my blue healer puppy contract parvo and this was the only vet that would take my puppy and allow me to make payments. He was amazingly kind and gave my puppy IV's and then great instructions to care for her. We made it through an enormously hard illness that could of been prevented but he never pointed fingers at me or gave me any bit of a hard time. He was only concerned for my pup and trying to help. He was extremely kind when no other clinic had time to take us. I was extremely lucky to find this kind Vet. We did find that the reason for her parvo was due to an idiot burying a dead deer head that she had dug up and got into. We are lucky she is alive. All of my pets go to Dr Meyers and he has always been kind, informative and very caring. I have found West Valley Vet Hospital staff to always be friendly and super caring. They're fees are normally always the lowest. Its no wonder they are always so busy but they find time for you! recommend 200% !

In Short: WVVH was good when Dr. Jennifer was there...years ago, and unfortunately it has not been…read morethe same since she left. The RANT: This review will start with my first experience with Dr. Meyer approx 4 years ago.... I had a 130 lb labrador who was aging but overall seemed healthy. Since it had been a while for a check up I took him to see Dr. Meyer, before he even assessed my lab he mentioned only his weight and how bad it was.... he took most of the appointment hyperfocused on my dogs size and nothing else. He will cut you off mid sentence, he disregards any other concerns. Felt that maybe it was just not a good match of a vet for us at the time. That dog lived another 2 years until he passed from cancer, in which we were seeing a new vet at that time. Side note: The next vet we used was not concerned at all for his weight as our lab was a large built dog and was also very active. Fast forward to our other dog (May 2024), rottweiler. Our senior rottweiler who just turned 8 years old had been healthy up until about 2 weeks before we made an apt with Dr. Meyer, he was rapidly loosing weight and refusing to eat. Our vet that we had been seeing didn't have an apt for a few weeks and I knew our rottie needed medical care sooner. Before going to emergency vet I figured I'd give Dr. Meyer one last chance. WORST MISTAKE EVER! If you want to know why you can get in within days of calling, there is a reason. We had a very mild tempered dog, and the second Dr. Meyer came through the door to assess his eyes widened and he stepped back "He's growling." When in fact at that point my dog was dry heaving from pulling his coar so hard (he was sorta excited to meet Dr. Meyer) He grabbed his hips, had us basically put our dog in a choke hold which did make our dog growl a bit. Said he couldnt assess his heart/lungs well because of his "barrel" chest, never checked his mouth (I was concerned for bad teeth), no temps/vitals. I'm someone who wants to know the best route and for a senior dog and my concern was comfort, Dr. Meyer "I DONT know what to tell you I cant see anything blood or x-ray and thats where you start" zero compassion, zero inquiry of what our intentions were.... I said I wanted pain controlled "Well, you can have pain meds, but that wont solve your problem." I asked what he would see/find on blood work or an XR (I wanted to know what the test covered, diabetes, cancer, tumor markers, blood counts etc) He wouldn't tell me anything but "I don't know." He doesn't take time (OR CARE) to clarify what the pet owner wants/concerns. We decided to go for a blood draw, he was more focused on getting a muzzle for our pup which we did. Drew blood, never gave us a turn around time, said he'd call us. Asked the front staff while paying when to expect results, "his machine is back there, we don't send them out." No call back, no concern. Dog was dead the next morning. I am not here to say my dog died as a result of Dr. Meyer but our concerns were downplayed, and what was our last appointment for our dog turned out to be a very negative experience. When we transported our rottie to our normal vet for cremation I received more insight on his health and what could've been the cause...more help than what Dr. Meyer provided. This vet does not like big dogs and talking with other community members that have taken their dogs in have said "He doesn't do well with large breed." He is the last doctor I would ever take my dog into and I should've remembered it from the last experience. Unless your dog is being euthanized he is not a pleasure to be around. His bedside manner is appalling.

Prior to the adventure, the owner, Bobby, met with me and my dog in person. He took the time to learn about my dog's personality and behaviors, and answered all of my questions. After meeting him I felt very comfortable letting him take my fur baby out and had confidence that it would go well. (I don't easily trust anyone with my dog, so this is saying a lot) Bobby was professional, kind, super knowledgeable about dogs and supportive. He took some great photos of Leia having a blast on her adventure which I loved. I would highly recommend this local business to anyone who wants their dog to go on adventures with a company who cares about and has experience working with our canine companions!
