Probably not something to shout about but…read moreconsidering Tom Morris started out by inheriting a very modest family business and turning HB into a multi million pound nationwide chain is nothing to sneer at. Cheap and cheerful is the motto - not officially but I'm guessing it's what it would be - as 'top brands at bargain prices' is the name of the game. I can't say that I have been to any HB much bigger than this store but HB's are not somewhere to do your weekly shop but more a place to get daily essentials.

It is a store filled with top brands at bottom prices and the variety of basic home essentials, canned and quick snacks they sell makes it an ideal source where you can buy general everyday items. Sometimes you can get away without having to go to the bigger stores as you can often find cheaper prices and get better value for money here. After all, it is really home and bargain! The service at each till is often busy but efficient and staff will put all your items into a carrier bag, so you don't have to. You can always trust this place and you can't really go wrong.

Home Bargains is just the best. Even when I go in and can't find the thing/s I went in for I always come out with something ace instead. It really is what I would call a 'general store' and I bloody love it. And bargainous it is indeed - famous branded items from tinned tuna fish to hair dye to baby wipes are so much cheaper than in the larger supermarkets. You really can make great savings here. It can be a bit frustrating when an item that has been in stock for months suddenly isn't (and this can happen a fair bit) but just go down the next aisle and I bet you anything you'll spot a nice notebook or a set of Mason Jars with stripey straws or a multipack or electrical tape or a jar or Filippo Berio about a quarter of the price it would be in Tesco that will cheer you up. So I won't be able to do any laundry this evening as they didn't have any fabric conditioner but I have just put my herb pots into three rather lovely enamel mugs. And I've got a new silicone loaf tin. I don't even bake. Brilliant.

They might fall short of selling food but they do have a basic cafe/restaurant where you can have a hearty lunch for cheap prices. Its the nature of their departments that makes them so popular with people of all ages. I can't think of anything they don't sell, especially when it comes to domestic requirements. Their crockery ranges from low to high standards similarly with their electronic appliances so whatever you are seeking, there should be an item that wins you over 9 out of 10 times. Not to mention, the same goes with shoes; the place is packed with them! And clothes too, the list is endless. If you're looking to treat yourself or find a gift, then TJ's is probably your first port of call.

These bargains usually end up as my birthday or christmas presents. Like the much lamented Lewis' which has closed down on Renshaw Street, TJ's is a landmark store within the city. It is a much more modest department store than Lewis' was and can be seen as more of a front runner to the now universal pound shops. The key to TJ's is the bargains. It covers all sorts of quality products and ranges - although nothing exclusive or top of the range - and at the cheapest possible prices.

The worst experience of my life was ordering from Wilko's, I invertedly ordered 2 gazebos by…read moremistake due to not receiving a confirmation email and thinking my order had not gone through so placed another order, still no order confirmation all evening. the next morning I checked my bank and saw there was 2 transactions for the two orders, so they had actually been placed and still no order confirmations. I contacted Wilkos who indeed said they had a record of two orders even though I had no confirmations I explained I only wanted one and could I cancel one. They said due to their speedy dispatch that both orders had already left and I would have to refuse delivery of one gazebo to be refunded for one. I still get no delivery notification and then by chance while emailing Wilkos they tell me that my order is out for delivery that day, I rush home from work to wait for the delivery so I can refuse delivery of one of them. When the delivery arrives the courier only has one box from each gazebo and said the other boxes had not been dispatched, I refused delivery as told by Wilkos of one of the boxes and kept the other. Waited till the next morning still no notification of the other boxes arriving so contact Wilko's to be told the other boxes have not been sent to the courier yet. All in all I have had a nightmare with Wilko's so only got half of one Gazebo and been charged £709 twice, all in all I am ready for a breakdown. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE WILKO

They sell garden things (patio furniture etc) as well as screws, lightbulbs and all the other bits and pieces you might need for your home. The DIY section can be quite useful if you don't have a car to visit the larger out of town superstores and the prices are usually less than similar items in other high street shops. There are a limited number of tills in the Chester store so you may have to queue for a while, and there is no way to leave the store without going through the till area so even if you decide the queue is too long, it may take you a while to get out again. The shop is fairly clean, although has the smell that these places usually attract; a combination of bathroom and garden products which isnt very attractive but is understandable.

A huge range of products are stocked here such as pet supplies, garden products, cosmetics, toiletries, food, drinks, kitchen items, cleaning products and much much more. The stock isn't always the best quality but what can you expect from a 99p store. I find this an excellent shop for those little bits and pieces you hate spending money out on and don't really care about their quality such as Tupperware, pet food bowls and bin bags.

They do have fresh meats and frozen things in the fridge and freezer, I personally would just come here for candy, crisps and packages goods!

It's always fairly busy and now has one of the superlambananas in situ by the tills (the one that was on the Strand by the 3 graces). The only down side is the manners of the staffalthough this has got better don't expect pleaseor thank youand don't be surprised if they chat away to each other while serving you. But you can't have everything!

They have a huge range of items including baby supplies, pet supplies, luggage, baking supplies, paint, cosmetics, toiletries, food and homewares. The store itself is large, well organised and that staff work hard to keep it clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and are more than happy to help if you need it. Basically, if there's something you need, and you're not too sure where to buy it in the city centre, go to Wilkinson's.

Which is a nuisance because I bought the one from Boots. It's always the place I go to if I'm stuck. I needed silver spray paint a few Christmases ago to snazz up some decorations. Got it at Wilko's. I needed some silver craft glitter spray for a flower arrangement. Got glitter hairspray, which had the same effect, for 79p I think. Which was good compared to the £7 a can at Rennie's. Need cheap catfood to feed the stray cat that's always round our back door - Wilko's is the place. I think I've made my point.

I'm not sure whether a delivery servce is available as lots of the items are quite large and bulky I should think there would be.
