I used Home Hunters after moving from out of state and am happy with their service. For the price of $150 they had a decent selection of rentals that couldn't be found on other listings sites. I recommend anyone using their service to give themselves some time in finding a place if they can. New listings come in a few times a week and I noticed these were often the best apartments because they were newly available before someone snatched them up. read more

STAY AWAY SCAMMED ME FOR $125 - All listings were obsolete , already taken months ago, no answer. SCAM!!!!! All of their listings are 95% rented already. They are nice up front but as soon as they take your money they refuse to even speak with you! Totally a waste of money and time! Mark and Maggie were so helpful always finding us a tenant. We share the lower level of our home and they always find us somebody. Usually people save up money and then buy their own place so people come and go every few years. The last 5 times we have used Home Hunters in Fair Lawn, they found us a great person. We have our next tenant moving in with us in January. I'm very happy with the service they provide. I used them 20 years ago when I lived in Bogota, NJ as well. Mark is so friendly every time I have to deal with him. He is honest, reliable and just all around a nice guy. I never worry when someone moves out because they always find us someone new. JUST READ THE REVIEWS. Total scam. They have been ripping people off for years. I have to believe their "good" reviews are written by them. They SPAM craigslist with too good to be true apartments and disguise who they are as best they can. They charge a fee for lists of apartments that no longer are available and avoid you after they take your money. I know 2 people that tried them anyway and got nothing but aggravation. NEVER AGAIN! I came from California to look for apartments & being new to the state I decided to use their services to search for apartments because I only had a week to look & sign a lease. I called Mark because I found their information on craigslist and talked to Mark who did everything over the phone for me. He said sign up for our services and you'll guaranteed have your apartment within the week and he took my card information over the phone so I could access their online server for listings. He told me I would get my receipt in email but that NEVER happened but my account was charged right away. He told me again and again that there would be new listings EVERYDAY around 10 to 20 but that never happened either, I was looking at the same 1 page of listings which were out of my budget when I strictly said I do not want to go over $1100 rent price. I was also NEVER told that this is I was told if I wasn't satisfied I could call back and ask for him but never got a hold of them. They have given wrong contact information on their website for contacting them so I kept calling and never heard from them. I looked them up online on craigslist again to find another number that's how I got in touch with a lady who accused me of being a "bully" because I was frustrated with my situation. Mark also never told me the services were non refundable he forced me to do everything over the phone so I didn't have to come to their offices to see a contract. I also never received a contract stating no refund or my receipt. I was cheated with money and time. Most of the apartments listed were already leased and were still on my list. It was a botched up job just to make money out of people in need. Even the number they have on yelp is WRONG. They have the worst customer service I have seen in my life. My issues were not taken care off or dealt with in any ways possible. The lady was rude and demeaning to me. I am a college student looking for a place to live and I don't have a job right now and coming to a different state I thought this would be of help but all they wanted was my money and NO SERVICES were provided which would meet my needs. I have even filed a complaint against them in Better Business Bureau hoping they will resolve my issues. REALLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

I am a landlord and often post ads for my apartments when they become vacant. Home hunter picks up my ads from craigslist, rewrites them slightly and then charges people for the ad. I am currently getting calls for a 2 bedroom apartment I rented out 7 months ago...it's an enormous nuisance to me and a rip off to consumers who feel that they are getting something for their fee. This company is a joke.I've been living in a flat for nearly 3 years and I can honestly say it's been one of the worse few yrs of my life.The building is full of damp and not just my flat the others too a neighbour only said to me last week it should be condemned.I finally thought I was rid of them for good after finding a new place but they are now trying to withhold my bond because a few items were left behind namely trainers and a hammer and They are saying I have to clean the mould off the walls which I and so many others know is in fact DAMP! An environmental health officer visited me 8 months ago and said it was condensation but when I asked if there was anyway to prevent/clean it I was told not to as this would make it worse.I am now being asked by home hunters to clean this which over the Christmas period has become much worse and have been told by professionals that it is in fact DAMP aswell as orange wet stuff dripping from inside my windows too.Also I called in there about 6-7 mths ago and was asked by one of the receptionist's "If I wanted to purchase drugs"? TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL in my eyes. read more
