The Letdown: On bread slice was a tiny spread that barely tasted like avocado. From there, I found the "poached" egg was overboiled, and one of the pear slices was actually rotten. It boggled my mind that this could be served. The shreds of smoked salmon looked like leftovers, and was that an old slice of lemon that topped it? If those weren't enough, the bottom of the bread was seriously burnt. Almost comical how every element of the dish was poorly prepared. Yes, I should've returned this to the kitchen. But I was reminded of the misgivings in Kitchen Confidential. On a side note: there is rarely complimentary water in Europe and it was not the case here either contrary to earlier reviews.

I got the mascara-done caramel banana pancake, which the server told us was a popular item. My husband got the salmon with cream cheese, and he said that was amazing. So unlike other places that usually stack pancakes and then put the topping at the top, this each layer has the filling, so each layer of the salmon pancake has cream cheese and salmon. The pancakes were very good and also seemed very healthy as far as pancakes go - everything was perfectly balanced. The halloumi and avocado as well as the hummus were layered in the stack so every bite had something in it. The karak latte was also very good with a smooth flavour. I appreciated that they could make it with alternative milk since most places I've been to that serve this will only do it with dairy. Seating can be a bit tight, but we got a table on arrival. We ordered healthy hot drinks and sat down for a bit to warm up. The staff was friendly and came by a couple of times to check on us. Prices were standard with what we saw in busier areas. The atmosphere is very active and festive. They have a bar, which we were not able to take advantage of, but sounded and looked good.
