This is the best donut stop in Maryland and arguably in the DMV. I was told about this place by my Superintendent, another foodie, that this hidden gem would change my life. He told me about this place for months before he took it upon himself to just go get me a donut. They change their signature flavors multiple times a week so every day is a surprise. I loved this place so much that I asked my dad (who lives in Hagerstown) to stop there before seeing me in DC. He said their line was long but the customer service was amazing. Absolutely the BEST donuts in the area! My husband works nearby, and I heard from him about how great these donuts were for a long time. I myself never was close when they were open. We were a hardcore Krumpe's customers for years. I thought to myself these can't be better. I was so wrong! I was told they had a Facebook page and could find the specials listed there along which days they are open. So we made it a point to go. BEST DECISION EVER!!! Really... why did we not visit this place before?!! My first donut I had there was their original glazed. They are huge and so fluffy and tender inside... the taste is pure heaven! The right amount of glaze.... Just perfect. We purchased two eclairs for later. I was warned by my husband they were huge. He kept telling me he could never finish one himself. I laughed at him, thinking who can't finish a chocolate eclair!!! Well... he opened the box and I was shocked. They are big! If you haven't had one yet... I highly recommend trying one. The chocolate they use on top is just so much better than anywhere else. We have now been loyal customers to Home Run Donuts for a while. We love they have specials and it keeps things fresh and new. Of course they always have their regular menu items as well. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Another thing we love about Home Run Donuts... they are dog friendly. been going to home run for a while and have never been disappointed. my favorite has to be the buckeye but the blueberry glazed is insanely good as well! my family loves to grab donuts every once in a while as a treat. the service is great - it is run out of a truck so you may have to wait a couple min for your order but nothing a little patience can't handle! lovely outdoor area and a great family owned shop. read more

Was so excited to finally try what I was told would be. Mouth watering experience. Sadly I arrived at 10:20am at the WCH Wednesday event and was told no glaze, no cinnamon sugar and the choices were Blueberry, Pineapple or Pumpkin. I was disappointed but decided to get a dozen of 1/2 blueberry, 1/2 pumpkin being my first time at home run the young clerk filled my order and before doing ask if I wanted the frosting, I though the donuts came with it, when she rang up the sale she said 24.00, I said pardon me she said the frosting was 1.50 per donut. He supervisor piped up and said the Customers are so different over here just charge her 15.00. I said heavens no I just had no idea. I would never pay 33.00 for a dozen donuts which would be the cost if all 12 had icing. The donuts were ok, but the attitude of the personnel ruined the experience and the cost was ridiculous. This has to be one of the oddest places to find a gem such as this. On the side of the road out in the boonies. But man, will you ever be glad you came! Home Run Donuts are made start to finish right there in the truck. You can poke your head in and watch the process if you want. They have a limited selection of flavors, but it covers all the bases and assures that your donuts are fresh every time. These are not your average donut. They are huge, thick and have an uncommon density and chew that you don't find in most shops. They are not dry or heavy, but have some bite to them. Like the difference between a good artisan bread and a slice of wonder. There's just more to them. We've tried all the flavors, except blueberry, I'm not that brave yet, though others are raving about those. Our favorite is the chocolate dipped. Loaded with chocolate, and often dipped while you watch, so they are warm and gooey. They are a bit more expensive than other local donuts, but you absolutely get more for your money. And the couple who own the business are sweet and adorable. Please consider supporting the little guys in the truck for your donut needs. You wont be sorry. Hopefully increased business will necessitate an additional day or two for them to open. That would be a win for all of us! read more

The donuts were overcooked and the grease, I think, made the donuts taste funny. I threw away the blueberry because they were overcooked. Got there at 1:00pm on a Saturday when they closed at 1:30pm. There were only about 7-8 customers ahead of us so I figured we'd be served within 10-15 minutes or so...how long can it take to put donuts in a box I thought? After 20 minutes of waiting in line they served a total of 2 customers. At 1:15pm a worker shouted out that they had some donuts left and were closing in 15 minutes. At 1:29pm, and with about 3 customers still in front of us they then shouted out that they were closing in 1 minute and only had 1 kind of donut left. Needless to say, we left with nothing. Today this place was "STRIKE OUT DONUTS". This was my first and last time here....I think I'll stick with KRUMPE'S!! read more
