If you are a freelancer or vendor, do not work with this business without full payment upfront…read more In July 2025, I was hired by Allan Hill--who represented himself as the owner--to complete design work for a City of East Point project, including a double-sided flyer and a custom infographic. I delivered everything on time and completed all requested revisions. Before the work started, Allan spoke extensively about how other "Black-owned businesses" don't support each other or don't pay. Ironically, that ended up being exactly my experience with him. After completing the work, I was never paid as promised. Instead, I was given months of excuses--most often that he was "waiting on payment" from the City of East Point--even though my agreement was with him and his business, not the City. At one point, I was invited to dinner under the pretense of discussing additional projects. No business was discussed. Instead, he made personal advances that I declined both in person and again via text. After I made it clear I was not interested, communication changed immediately--calls went unanswered and the excuses about payment increased. What stood out the most was the contrast. During that same dinner, Allan bragged about his connections, businesses in other states, and expensive purchases--including cars he bought for his brother and son, and a new car he was considering buying for himself for his birthday. Yet throughout this entire time, I was repeatedly told he didn't have $600 to pay for completed work. Nearly a year later, I have received only $100 toward a $600 invoice, and that payment didn't come until November 2025. After that, I was told I would receive the remaining balance within a couple of weeks, but I have not heard anything since. Communication also became increasingly rude and hostile, as if I was bothering him or asking for a favor instead of requesting payment for completed work. The entire interaction is documented. I have emails and text messages showing the full timeline--from initial outreach to delivery to repeated promises of payment that were never honored. This experience was unprofessional, misleading, and a complete waste of time. Proceed with caution.

I am so glad to have been assisted by them. As each listened to my request, I noticed how well them worked as a team. I was prepared to leave my project with them. However, they immediately addressed my project, after waiting a while the completed yearbook was returned to me. Not only did they prevent a return trip, but the finished product was much better than I expected! Great job to both of them! The customer is happy; and the parents were surprised by their gifts. I had a GREAT visit t at Staples - East Point!

DO NOT GO IN THIS STORE IF YOU ARE NOT AFRICAN-AMERICAN…read more I have repeatedly been given "the treatment" at the check-out counter at this store, which is designed poorly to sort out people who have simple purchases versus people who require customer service. In the past, I've been toward the end of the customer-service intensive line watching the people in front of me fail to avail themselves of an open POS terminal in which the clerk asked for shoppers. After 5 or 10 minutes, I moved to the POS aisle only to be berated by staff who think I'm cutting in line because I'm white and all these poor people in front of me are being dissed. I guess they'd rather stand there doing nothing than checking out customers. Today I stood in customer service line for over 30 minutes. At no time was a non-customer service-intensive POS terminal clerk available for customers who didn't have a "return issue" of some kind. When I got to the desk, I was told I was in the wrong line. At no time did ANYONE announce that they would take non-customer-service oriented (simple purchases) to the main queue. A time or two a manager came with (elderly) shoppers and then quickly moved off without asking if anyone else had regular purchases. To me it meant that they had no interest in helping customers check out. No questions about helping. It must be a game for them: get whitey to stand at a vacant terminal asking for check-out and be called names for being "entitled" or waiting in line while no one is the simple check-out line because no clerk is standing there and then get called out because I'm in the wrong line. Some annoying woman at the back of the line who had not seen anything that had happened or not happened over all this time started schooling me on etiquette and that she was sorry I didn't get the life I deserved. I will do just that....NEVER use this store (and for that matter, shop) at Camp Creek Marketplace.

Finisher? What is a finisher?…read more There are several definitions for the word finisher, some sporty, some practical...and some scary: 1. The Ryan's (my BF's): Closer, finisher ((baseball) a relief pitcher who can protect a lead in the last inning or two of the game). 2. The Ryan's 2 (BF loves sports): finisher (a racing driver who finishes a race). 3. HGTV's-like: finisher (a painter who applies a finishing coat). 4. The closest to what I'm going to talk about: finisher (a worker who performs the last step in a manufacturing process). 5. More sports?: finisher (a race car that finishes a race). 6. Sports meets mammalian, reptiles, etc, etc: finisher (an animal that wins in a contest of speed, AKA "The Tortoise and the Jackrabbit"). 7. Movie trivia: a la Harvey Keitel as Victor the Cleaner in "Point of no Return." OK. Enough with definitions and such. When you work in the book / magazine world, the finisher is the company that binds your printed product. In my case, I needed perfect binding for my book Buenos Aires. Paperfold was highly recommended by a colleague and by the company that printed the book. I had a really tight deadline, but they squeezed me in without any problem. The only downside of the process? They charge customers a minimum for their binding services (200 copies) so for people like me, who only printed and bounded 35 books, this service was expensive. I was aware of this because they make that clear even before they schedule your product. Their office is located in an industrial area and it's fairly easy to find by any GPS or Altanta-savvy person. Just drive towards the airport, baby! Paperfold is a family business, so you'll come into a place that is very relaxed and friendly with zero interior design elements or fashionable accessories but a cool, little Daschund that will play with you while you wait for your paperwork to be done. They were extremely nice to me, and very serious about getting my book done in time without sacrificing quality. Both times I went there (to drop the book and to pick up) I was helped with my very, very heavy boxes. Their service was top quality from the first phone call all the way to the moment they put my finished books in my truck's trunk. The books looked great, the binding was perfect in all the sense of the word, the doggie anti-stress therapy an unexpected delight and the warm, thoughtful treatment was a great surprise. Talk about industrial sublime!
