Bless them, they've got just about everything you could possibly imagine in this store!…read more Imagine taking the entire contents of B&Q, Wilkos and Poundstretcher and cramming it all into one little shop, and you've got Brian's! It's a real Alladin's cave selling absolutely everything you could ever need, and quite a lot that you could probably live without as well! Staff are friendly and some of the time it appears that they look just as lost as the customers in there! On the whole, it is a really useful little place to have in the town. A Wilkinsons opened recently which I think have taken a lot of business away from Brian's which is a shame as they're a bit of a Brigg institution, but hopefully they'll survive and continue to give the good service they have done for years.

It is worth looking in Gee Jays before buying anything from B&Q or similar places. They have stock clearance items and regular stock as well. The stock varies widely and is regularly updated to accommodate seasonal stock. If you are doing a spot of DIY I imagine you can get everything from here, as they have paint, brushes and cleaning equipment. The main downsides to this shop are: 1) Parking, there are a few spaces on the road outside, but the shop is a 5 min walk out of town; 2) Accessibilty with wheelchair, pram or similar. I find it hard to navigate a pram around, so have to make arrangements to go there on my own.

I have very mixed feelings about this shop. My wife and mother in law love it. There are some…read morereally good stuff for sale here but there is also a lot of tat. It's a bit like a shop that sells all the stuff that you find in those betterware type catalogues that always seem to appear through the letterbox. There are some ingenious things sandwiched in between loads of rubbish. They also have some food/ingredient items and general household goods - glasses, cutlery, pots etc. The biggest problem I see is that most of the interesting things that they sell can be found elsewhere, cheaper. I do love to shop and love hunting out a bargain and don't mind wandering about picking up individual items here and there so I tend not to bother with lakeland anymore unless I can't find what I want elsewhere. If you're the type of person who can't or doesn't like to go in search of things and don't mind paying a premium for it all to be in one place then lakeland is fine. The staff seem a bit indifferent too.

When purchasing an item, the staff at the till will talk to you and ask if you will be 'doing anything nice' due to the things which is about to be bought.
