I kept saying there were signs of fatigue and weight. She kept saying I was fine. I went to my annual ob/gyn and told her the same thing. She checked my thyroid, found a lump referred me back to Dr. Ward for a follow up and low and behold, Dr. Ward called me on Christmas Eve to tell me I had thyroid cancer. She referred me to a surgeon who was on vacation and busy until after the holidays. After my surgery, one would think Dr. Ward would care enough to at least follow up. No such doctor here. She is probably a really nice person, but needs more medical experience and to be honest, I am not sure what she was thinking if she was at all returning my email with a call on Christmas Eve to tell me I had cancer.

"are you off your nut or what? you need to stop worrying about this." one of my docs once scolded, "you're what some of us call the worried well. just be grateful there's nothing really wrong with you." this of course only caused me to worry what serious prognosis it was he was keeping from me, i mean after all why would he waste his time with a person who had nothing working against him but his imagination? one can't help thinking that surely there's something lurking in there waiting for the right moment to drop that first shoe. (now can we please proceed on a more serious note?) Dr. Buxton is a first rate endocrinologist. He not only addresses the immediate condition of concern, in my case glycated hemoglobin, but relates this to results of tests that indirectly relate to the primary physiology involved. providing in my case, and if you will, a kind of universal field theory of my moderately elevated blood sugar. this last is nothing to make light of, as it can be a very serious condition for some, especially those born into it. but for me i believe this particular issue is just one of several self-inflicted maladies of a self-indulgent lifestyle, enhanced in my case from early career years when i made a living drinking on the job as a winemaker. fortunately i seem to be okay, for now, but will watch things and look forward to a return engagement with Dr. Buxton, who is not only highly capable in his field, but also an interesting guy to talk to. the only downside being it does take awhile to get to see him as he seems to have quite a lot of patients, go figure.

Coding errors are common so that your insurance charges you when they should not have. You have to deal with Dr. Buxton's office and the insurance company. It is hard to say who is least interested, Dr. Buxton's office or the insurance company in helping you solve the problem. A headache. 2. He does NOT take Medicare. You have to pay up front, then try to get Medicare to reimburse you. Another headache. 3. You can talk with him ONLY during appointments. No email, no phone calls are allowed. You can send a message through the office staff, they will ask him (sometimes), and get back to you, often with a reply that does NOT answer your question. If you have a problem that throws your medication off, you cannot get answers, and it takes, sometimes months, to get an appointment in person, while you are left wondering what to do. Another headache. 4. If he is unable to help you, instead of suggesting another physician, he will just refuse to see you again. Another headache. 5. If his treatments don't work, he will blame you. Another headache. 6. He seems to listen to you during appointments, but, I got his records pertaining to me, and they show he did not listen. Disappointing. Another headache. 7. His records reflect his worry about liability, so they are inaccurate. For example, he stated he told me to get a second opinion. Nope; never happened. Get your records so you can try to correct them. Another headache. 8. Perhaps because he isn't connected with any medical group, he isn't able to see the whole picture of your health so he can suggest another way to help you. Because of his the quality of his care is very compromised. You are on your own. Another headache.

Dr. Daniel did a lot of pricy and questionable testing and put me on 41 pills a day of either supplements or prescription medicine. I developed a concerning medical condition I'd never had before that made me feel sicker than ever, requiring me to stop eating many foods, and made me so fatigued, all I could do was lie on the couch most days for months. It was miserable. I finally got fed up with her after the second time she raised her prices significantly during the pandemic and fired her. I had spent tens of thousands of dollars on her appointments, testing and supplements. I immediately went off of everything she had prescribed and felt so much better within two weeks. My health has been just fine since I stopped following her advice 18 months ago. She may have a lot of five-star Yelp reviews but read them closely - few mention good medical outcomes from working with Dr. Daniel. Working with her had an incredibly positive effect on my health and well-being and I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her, and get back to optimal health. However, there have been recent changes to the practice that feel de-humanizing. Today, in the midst of a pandemic, I tried to log in to ask a question or make a short appointment, and was told my account was "inactive" as I had not had an appointment in a year. I called to see if I could ask Dr. Daniel, a doctor I really trust, a question or make an appointment, and Jason/Jonathan called me to tell me that I was no longer a patient, and the practice was not accepting new patients. I told him I'd been a patient since 2015, and asked him how I could make an appointment, or ask Dr. Daniel a question, and he said I would need to go online and read about my options, that who knows if I could be seen again, but that I might be a "level 2" or "level 3. " When I asked him what that meant, he said I should go online. As a longtime patient, a mother, and a scientist, I felt hurt and disrespected by this de-humanizing interaction. It seemed that the rug had been swept out from under my feet - I was booted from the practice because I felt well and hadn't had an appointment in a year. These new policies, and the interaction with Jason/Jonathan were the exact opposite of my previous experience with Dr. Daniels (warm, humanizing, caring).
