View from hot tub

While our husbands were halibut fishing my friend and I spent 3 hours at the spa. This was an amazing experience. We opted not to get a massage since we can do that at home, but instead did the full spa experience. We started with an hour in the yurt in the 4D massage chairs. They were amazing. Almost as good as a real massage! The red light therapy in there was great too. Next we spent time in the dry sauna and used the vitamin D eye glasses, the foot massages and the oxygen. The cold plunge and hot tub and regular sauna were amazing with beautiful views of the bay. So serene. I would definitely recommend this. The ladies that guide you through the yurt and thermal spa were amazing. Such an amazing experience in a perfect setting.

Private hot tub and these views. Need I say more?

Such sweet, accommodating hosts! Marilyn made sure my best friend and I were taken care of in comfort. I highly recommend the beach view suite with the private hot tub. My friend and I both Alaskans, and this stay here certainly took the cake for being the best spa and inn we've stayed in the state. 10/10 recommend!

Gorgeous views in October from the back deck!

Is there a 6/5 star review option?! This place was phenomenal! We stayed two nights and even though it was raining on and off, the views from the deck were beautiful! We got a side-by-side (couples massage) and the two therapists were fantastic. Definitely recommend the Swedish massage! On our second day it was really rainy so instead of the hike we had planned, we stayed in and played board games we got from the front desk. From the complimentary wine, to the DVD collection, to the board games...this place has thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable! The hot tub has a great view and even though the rain prevented an evening fire, the ambience was perfectly romantic!

Wonderful view from the room!

The place is just gorgeous, and you are in a separate cabin overlooking Kachemak Bay, so it is very quiet.

Driftwood Inn - Super comfy bed with a view

Driftwood Inn

I travel to Homer, AK occasionally for work and love staying at the Driftwood Inn. It reminds me…read moreof an old fashioned family run inn, with wonderful staff and service. The tiny fisherman's quarter rooms are perfect. The inn is on a cliff line right above the beach, so it has really easy access to the beach. The views are magnificent. You can see the beautiful ocean on the Kachemak Bay, snow covered mountains, a distant glacier, and volcano, eagles, and ravens. The inn is very close to tourist attractions, including the really nice visitor center, as well as the famous Homer Spit area. There's a lot of fantastic restaurants and cafe's really close, some walking distance. I've stayed at the Driftwood several times now and really love it. I love it so much, I took my family there recently and we had a wonderful time. Our daughters bunked in one of the tiny fisherman's quarter rooms, and they loved it. We rode horses on the beach right below the inn, and it was an incredible Alaska experience for our family, we will cherish always. The Homer Horse Adventures is on the beach right below the hotel, so within walking distance. We also spent a lot of time exploring the Homer Spit. Just a wonderful time. The Driftwood Inn was perfect and their staff are incredible, very friendly, attentive, and helpful. I highly recommend the Driftwood Inn. I will be back again for sure.

I stayed in room 7 which is the pictured room and had a beautiful view of the ocean and the mountains. The bed was super comfy and I slept like a rock. It is a shared bathroom situation here which I'm not always keen on but it was never an issue, was easy. Door locks and a nice hot shower. The staff was very friendly and talked to the woman at the front desk for a bit and then across the street talked to her daughter at AJ's restaurant. I felt like I was part of the town for a minute there. There's a great restaurant across the street (AJ's), like about thirty feet away and Bunnell Street Art Center next to that. Will definitely come back.

Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers. If having a seemingly unlimited selection of all three is nice, you'll like it. If you don't like sharing with the previous guest, no good. There were a few small items on the sink. Plenty of hot, HOT water. HUGE TV. DirecTv. Mini Fridge. The bed was comfortable. No complaints. It is located in a good spot. Sort of in the middle of all the action. Close to Homer High School, Carrs/Safeway, Homer Jeans, and plenty of restaurants/coffee shops/breweries. Well two breweries. About 10 minutes from the Spit, give or take.

While the room may have been a little dated, the accommodations were still comfortable and had everything that we needed during our stay. They also have a restaurant/bar called the Otter Room that had pool tables and such. It seemed to be pretty popular in the evening but we didn't utilize it. The breakfast options offered by the hotel sounded pretty great - it included an omelet bar. The room also had the basics of shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. Internet service worked great too. We got a pretty decent rate by utilizing a AAA discount, so be sure to look into that option if you have it. Our room was located on the top floor and was relatively quiet. Some rooms may have a view, ours only had a "peek-a-boo" view of the water if you looked hard enough. There was some road noise due to the occasional overly loud truck driving down the road. Really the only thing that may be an issue depending on who checks into the rooms on either side of you, is that the walls are a bit thin. We could hear our neighbors alarm clock in the morning and bits and pieces of their conversations. Overall this hotel met the bill for our needs with its convenient location, value, comfy accommodations and easy parking! Would definitely recommend to others!

We didn't really get to appreciate and enjoy them to the full extent since we arrived so late, went promptly to bed, and had to get up early in the morning. But based on the amenities and location, this is definitely one place I would return to if I were ever to find myself in Homer again. Check in was a little strange, being that you had to check in in a separate spot outside of town. But other than that, the entire check in process was smooth. The space itself was clean, conveniently located, and the bed was phenomenal! We enjoyed the jetted tub and the clear skies and beautiful views of the water. Walking distance from the harbor, several restaurants, and shops, this is the place to stay in Homer! Just beware, that if you stay here in the off-season, you are pretty much out on the spit by yourself with almost no amenities available. We ended up eating at McDonald's because it was the only thing open in Homer at 8 PM on a Wednesday night.

The property itself was well-kept. The lodges are right on the beach at end of Homer Spit, and there was some maintenance construction happening on two or three lodges while we were there--inside the apartment, it was completely silent, though. The radiant heat flooring was a nice touch, and it was great to have direct beach access through the back door. This place also has incredibly soft, fluffy bath towels--this is one place hotels often scrimp, so I am always appreciative of great towels. The shower was a bit tricky to figure out, but an employee answered the off-hours phone line and walked us through it.
