No disappointment here, except I would have liked the roll to be a bit more crispy on the outside. Otherwise, it was bursting with flavor - a nice mix of smoky sweet sauce and fresh crunchy carrot, sprouts, and coriander. It tasted just as it should, and I was very pleased that a vegetarian option was available. My husband had the geisha, cold soba noodles with sprouts, veggies, a nice dressing and warm tofu. A huge helping of delicious pickled ginger on top - my dream as a ginger lover though he thought it was a bit too much. I grabbed a taste and found it to be nice and flavorful if a bit less adventurous than other offerings. Our friend got the nest, sunflower crumbed soft boiled eggs in a nest over salad with blood sausage added. It was a vision to behold but I sensed he didn't love it as much as he has hoped. He noted the nest was a bit difficult to eat with a fork and knife. Everything was beautifully presented, and the coffee was lovely. Double shot on the espresso drinks standard, as it should be! The atmosphere was very nice. Couple of tables out front perfect for a sunny day and plenty of tables indoors. It's a small place but it's a bit out of the way and we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes to sit. So many interesting options to choose from - I can't wait to go back and try the banana rice with salted coconut cream and lychees! Sounds incredible!! Bit of a splurge at $17 average price per item, but felt like good value for the artistry and interesting flavors you get. Bravo!

HUGE fan! What a great addition to an otherwise relatively quiet neighbourhood…read more What I love about L'oeuf is that it's a little bit different, without trying too hard. For example, the menu has all the usual brunch items - eggs, mushroom, salmon etc- but they are served with a creative twist and presented beautifully. 'The Russian', which I ordered, was essentially salmon and cream cheese w toast but they served the salmon as a tartare with dill and the cream cheese was full of herbs. Combine this on the lightly seeded toast with a squeeze of lemon juice and some avo and I was in heaven. The décor is a little bit different. They've used dark wood and loads of dark, leafy greenery and with a big Persian rug taking centre stage in the middle of the floor. I loved it but I will admit, it did was rather dark inside despite being gloriously sunny out! I'm normally more of a savoury kid at breakfast but having seen some of the sweet dishes come out of the kitchen i'm already looking for an excuse to head back here ASAP!

I came on a Sunday morning (expected it to be busy, which it was) with my boyfriend. We got a little two person table and scoured the menu. I had read online that they have vegan options. They are well known for their shakes, which look 1000% amazing and I really wanted one (legit the reason we came here). But when I asked the server, she said there were no vegan options for the shakes - the only vegan option on the menu was the acai bowl. I love a good healthy vegan option, but when you go somewhere hoping for a shake and come out with an expensive and moderate acai bowl, it's a tad bit disappointing. The server was really nice and the place n is cute, but they seemed completely understaffed. There was like one server for the entire restaurant. I ordered the acai bowl and my boyfriend ordered the avo toast. We had to ask someone if we could order after waiting for like 15 mins and then we waited another 25 mins for our food to come out. I try to be understanding when it's busy as I've worked in restaurants but it seems like they definitely need to hire more people. I'm hoping I just came on an unfortunately understaffed day. I wish they would offer vegan shakes. When they do, I'll be back!

I got one of their egg sandwiches, which I didn't realize would be so big. It was decent tasting, but a bit too much for me. Instead, the bf and I came here primarily to partake in one of their ridiculous milkshake. Yes, a milkshake for breakfast. Looks like a lot of the other patrons, most notably the younger crowds, were here for that same reason. We opted for their strawberry diva, which was a 1.5 foot tall monstrosity of decadence and sin. It had white chocolate bits, strawberry jam, sprinkles, thick strands of cotton candy floss, whipped cream, a stick of rock candy, along with the requisite strawberry ice cream that made up the milkshake. Just a messy, sticky treat, and it tasted like pure sugary sweetness. Not sure if other places in Auckland have things like this, but if you happen to have a hankering for sweets that only a very tall milkshake would fulfill, this would be a pretty safe bet for you to try out.

This is a great way to rid yourself of "last summers" fashion etc, make room for the new, and if these organisations can make a dollar or two from my donation then hoorah for them! On one such excursion I found myself in Onehunga Mall early on a Saturday morning and in dire need of a mocha! I headed to Brick By Brick Cafe, located at the top of the Mall where I knew I could park my car right outside with minimum fuss. Initially I thought the place was closed as at 8.00am the interior was bereft of patronage but as I pressed my nose against the glass door, it opened. I was immediately struck by the most alluring aromas; think freshly baked mouth-watering wares being hauled out of hot ovens by the tray full! Swallowing my drool, I ordered my mocha and pointed to the most delicious looking savoury muffins (still in the baking tray) and asked for one (I had to fight the urge to order all six!) Helping myself to a chilled glass of water, I sat down and began to peruse my surroundings. I've no idea what this building was in its former life but it is a most impressive structure; spacious, cool interiors, large ceiling to floor windows and my seat was a couch, trendy and extremely comfy. My muffin and coffee duly arrived and with the beaming smile from the waiting-person, I was left feeling most welcome and quite at home! The coffee, muffin and chilled water were all superb and the cheerful farewell on my departure, more than warranted the $5 tip I left on the table. My only regret: I didn't order the other 5 muffins. Maybe on my next visit!

I ordered a latte and my partner had a lemon ginger brew. I was so disappointed that I didn't order the brew, it was soo good and refreshing. Will definitely have this next time. We also ordered a BLAT to share. Yum! The bacon was delicious which was a weird experience because i don't usually like the bacon in NZ The whole sandwich was just a great combination of flavours and the bread was light with no heavy full feeling afterwards. It might have helped that we shared the sambo though I would recommend this place. The food is great and the service is so friendly
