STE B Myrtle Beach, SC 29588 Re: Stop Payment Issued To Whom it may concern: I am writing to inform you that I no longer need Home Team Pest Defense services. Your salesperson misrepresented the payment arrangement. I gave your representative a check for $140.00 for extermination services provided on April 23, 2026. The date of the check was April 23, 2026, and cleared on April 27, 2026; your company has provided no other services since then. The representative told me I could decide on the payment arrangement for future services during the next three-month visit. However, on May 21, 2026, without my authorization, he used the information from the April 23 check to draft a $85.00 payment from my account. Because this was neither my understanding nor our agreement, I placed a stop payment on the unauthorized draft on May 26, 2026. As a result of this misrepresentation and unauthorized action, I incurred a $30.00 stop-payment fee. I trust this is not Home Team Pest Defense's standard business practice and that deceptive sales tactics are not part of your company's operations. Such conduct is especially troubling when directed at seniors or other vulnerable individuals, as it can cause unnecessary stress and anxiety, which it has. Made request through HOA for service to townhome for wasp issue. Service rep called and took information to provide to Technician. She was polite and passed information onto tech as she said she would. One drawback is the company does not carry ladders to reach upper areas which was the case for me. Technician's name is Shayne and he called to alert me of arrival which was within minutes of speaking to the office. He was very knowledgeable, reassuring of his work and did his best to reach the soffit where the bees were beginning a nest. He did an inspection and treatment of the entire perimeter of my unit and explained everything well. Good job! read more

We had a 1 year contract with an agreed upon rate. When we informed them that we would not be renewing the contract at expiration...they charged us 70.49 above what the contract allowed. They also removed the equipment and terminated service before the end of the contract, although we had paid for the service until the end of the contract. We had to contact our Credit Card provider as HomeTeam Pest Defense would not remedy their overcharge. Corrupt bad business...DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

Pros: had to have termite traps reset after a patio project. Received next day service. Quick and polite. Cons: asked for one trap to be placed where the grass had already been removed. Tech said that should work, they need to measure out 10 ft spacing. He placed it exactly next to where I wanted it, I can't imagine 3" made a big difference to the termites. Tech reset 4/5 traps. Every one requires augering a hole, which digs up dirt and Coquina, understandable. Why can't service providers clean up their own mess? And since you have done this why can't they be set level? read more

I would give Home Team Pest Defense of Myrtle Beach 5 stars if I were a termite, but I have to give them a ZERO. Before you put your wallet up to your head and pull the trigger, you can save a lot of money and aggravation by checking out a video on You Tube called(The biggest scam in pest control-Termite Bait Stations by Dan The Bug Man). Make a wise choice and get the facts from the video before you give Home Team and it's Sentricon bait stations a penny. I can verify everything on this video is a proven and documented fact,--this review will be like getting a multi-thousand dollar gift certificate. I purchased a new home in Little River S Carolina that came with bait stations already installed. I found out later that Home Team had installed these bait stations at every new home in our community fishing for more customers, but I was not biting. Home Team had contacted me a couple times about signing a contract, but I told them I was doing my research on different methods, and would let them know which kind of treatment I wanted. They came onto my property without my permission while I was out and pulled all of MY stations out--which I had modified with small medical cameras that would send an alert to my television and phone if there was any movement in any station. They never told me they were coming or warned me about it. I got an email invoice from Home Team just as I was leaving for the police station to file a report. At least I found out who the culprits were. When I called the Home Team office, Dawn in their office told me they did not actually own those bait stations-she said they were actually owned by SENTRICON. She didn't think they had done anything wrong. Opinions vary. A lot of time, research, and money down the drain. It would have been interesting to see if any termites ever found one of my stations. What did find my bait stations was bigger than a termite and only had two legs. You should always assume you are being recorded and heard unless your in your own home. The documented truth verified by the U S Department of Agriculture revealed that it may take a termite a year or more to discover a bait station, but if there are any termites in your area--they will find your new home within ONE MONTH. Major issue with service and billing. Charged for services never rendered. Had no memory of their scheduling error last spring. Changed their contract and pricing without notice. Will never recommend them and never use them again. read more

Confused - we have had home team for 13 years. If we had an issue with bugs they would resolve it (part of their annual contract) without a cost to us. I just had a sugar ant invasion and they resolved it but left a bill for $122. Time to shop for a new company read more

Today we received our normal Home Team Pest Treatment from our new Representative , Joseph. I was shocked when ask, that he stated he had only been with the company for one month! I would have guessed years ! The quality and professionalism of his service cannot be taught , it comes natural to Joe !! He was very informative and answered all of our questions and actually did things , brushing all the outside of our house corners to remove bugs that has not been done with prior service associates ? We had our house serviced by Nick. This was only our second treatment with HomeTeam so I had expected to find a few insects here and there. I bagged the few I found and Nick took his time explaining about the bugs! He also told us exactly what he would be doing to service our home! This was the builders choice when we purchased our newly constructed home so we decided to use their services with promising results. We established a relationship with our technician who was responsive and provided a great service. As the business grew the scheduled services became scattered until we learned that our tech was replaced by another. When we called for service that was overdue the office responded that the techs make their own schedule. So you have no control over the people you employ? Out of the blue, without a phone call, this tech shows up, doesn't ring the door bell to introduce himself and begins his service. (A few weeks latter he showed up unannounced again) Investigation is in order and this was revealed. The services and billings had no rhythm with some services/billings as little as three weeks and some longer than three months. How can you project expenses or feel protected when services are scattered. This brand new 1700 sq. ft. home was paying home team more that a thousand dollars a year. When receiving quotes from others we were paying substantially more than need be. To make sure that home team was in line I requested a quote on line and via email and got two separate quotes with two different prices with a significant increase in both. WHAT??? We cancelled the contract and a few weeks latter THE TECH SHOWS UP AND STARTS REMOVING ALL THE TERMITE TRAPS THAT WERE PART OF THE HOME PURCHASE!! We only spotted him doing so on our security system. What kind of company provides spotty service, shows up when they want, questionable billing/quotes, and than sneakily attempts to remove all the devices. Someone that I would not trust or deal with! The actual pest control is excellent. It does exactly what I pay for. But where this company has impressed me is the knowledge, professionalism, effort, and friendliness of our service tech Keith. He has been coming quarterly to my father's who lives next door to me for 5 years. He is always on time and extremely friendly and professional. It is obvious that he is very knowledgeable and takes his work seriously. I have recently added the service to my home as well and I am even more impressed. Where he really impressed me is that I saw him one afternoon in the grocery store shopping for his family. It was obvious that he was getting off work and stopped by the store on his way home. I was surprised when he saw me that he immediately recognized me and spoke. During our brief conversation I mentioned that I had seen a few unwanted bugs around the flower beds by our door. I asked him if that was something they would come back out for in between the quarterly visits. I asked if I needed to call his office to set up the appointment. He surprised me when he said there was no need to call that he would be by to take care of it tomorrow around lunch. He was there at noon. I really like that with him I have never been made to feel like just another customer. His friendliness and great service will keep both my father and myself as loyal customers for many years. read more
