HOME BUYERS BEWARE. I purchased my first home this past November and used this company as my inspector. HomeTech Home Inspections told me in no uncertain terms that I am connected to city sewer. One month into owning my home, I find out I actually have a septic tank and that there is physically and literally NO possible way I could be connected to city sewer. How did I find out? The septic tank was completely full and the drain field failing. I have paid almost $1000 in repairs at this point, and need to pay an additional $8000 to get the drain field repaired. How could they get something so wrong? Great question. Turns out, the sellers home listing is enough for HomeTech Home Inspections to validate that you have city sewer. That is the method they used to tell me that I am connected to city sewer. That's right. I hired a company to validate the things the seller told me about the condition of the home, and they used the seller's word to validate it. Super cool. In the face of $9000 in repairs, I sought a refund from Home Tech Home inspections. Of the $1400 I paid HomeTech Home Inspections during my home buying process, they offered me only a $200 refund. Greg, the owner of HomeTech, told me that I should have known I had a specific tank going into buying the house. Thanks Greg! I agree! That's why I hired a home inspector. A lot of good that did me. To get something so fundamental wrong when your whole business is to tell people about their houses is crazy. I'm interested to see what else is going to come up while living here. Just had our newly built house inspected. You wouldn't think a new house would need an inspection. Our realtor (Debbie Jones) recommended that we get one. We are glad that we did and Hometech Home Inspections did a great job. They were on time, respectful and found things we would have never thought of. They check everything in the house, one item was one shower had the hot and cold water connections reverse, a hole on top of roof, paint issues, oven door issue. We had a HomeTech inspector who missed many problems with the home we were considering buying (and bought). Once we moved in we discovered the home needed new AC, new roof, new sprinkler system, and new appliances despite having been told those were all in functioning condition. The problems were readily found by others (such as AC, roof, and irrigation companies, and by us once we tried to use appliances). HomeTech has only accepted accountability for a few hundred dollars out of what has amounted to tens of thousands of repairs to get the home in livable condition. read more

This is such a great company. So far I've used them twice: the first time was to do my home inspection when I first bought my house and second time was to do the wind mitigation and 4-point inspection which was required by my new insurance company several years after I bought my house. Excellent service each time. The inspectors are very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. They also give a quick turnaround with the reports. This time when I needed the inspections required by insurance, the inspector emailed the final reports the same day the inspection was completed. I really appreciated that fast report delivery. I bought a home in Florida a few years back and used a different inspector. After moving in, hundreds of catchable items were noticed. Went with Greg and Tom for another home. We were about to purchase the home but used Home Tech to inspect it. They found many troubling items so we pulled out. They performed another inspection for us recently. Tom looks at EVERYTHING. He spotted micro fractures on the exterior that most with 20/20 would not spot. These people are good old fashioned, caring local businesspeople. Margie in customer service is a sweetheart.
