Background: I contacted: Allstate insurance online to get a quote on rideshare auto insurance. I was contacted by Sharon Collipriest from this local office. I was informed that when I was ready to start the policy they would need some documents including registration that is in my name. Now one of the vehicles I was going to insure was mine and one was my girlfriend's. We were both listed as drivers on the policy so this should not have been an issue. It certainly has never been an issue in the past with other insurance companies. I was informed that we would need to get separate policies and we would not qualify for multi-driver or multi-vehicle discounts. Bottom line, they are either discriminating against us because we aren't married or trying to extort us through illegal "company policy". *edited to add response to the owner* That's really funny that you claim you can't cover me because of state law. When I asked another highly respected, local insurance agent with another major insurer they practically laughed at the idea and said the same thing I suspected: that it seems like you were trying to extort more money by demanding customers open separate policies. They said there is no reason why two people in the same household cannot be named insured persons on the same policy and have all of their vehicles covered.
