So, we were up in Barrie for an excellent Historical Fencing seminar weekend (which was awesome,…read morethanks for asking!) and we wanted Indian. We were in Barrie for three days, and if we had gone here the first night, we would have eaten here all weekend. We did eat dinner here twice (the second night put us an hour behind our schedule getting home to Gowanda, NY. Worth it!) The food was awesome! All of it just hit. The chicken biryani I ordered extra spicy and they obliged! It was *so* good! The paneer pakora was fluffy and delicious, the chili chicken a perfect Indo-Chinese blend. Everything I had I cannot recommend enough. My one friend got the dosa (looked so delicious) and the samosas. She loved them! My other got the chicken tandoori and the chicken momos. To quote him directly, the momos were "the best dumplings I've ever had!" If I had to levy any criticism at all, the Seekh kebabs, though delicious, were sweeter than I'm used to. And the other, bigger complaint is I live so far away that I can't make this a regular place. Which jaggy really criticism at all, haha P.S. Get the Indian Iced Coffee!

Every bit as good as Tara, of course with a personal touch. The service was great. The place itself is nothing to speak of but clean! Ye, tthe food was that good.

We got into Barrie a bit later than expected, and we're very hungry. This place was right next to…read morethe hotel, open and still serving. And I love Indian food, so if course there was little reason to not try them. The service was a little scattered, but that's okay, it late on a Friday night. It took a little longer than I would have liked, but again I was very hungry and it was late. The food. Okay, I had the chicken Seekh kebabs. They were alright, but much sweeter than I am used to. It was kind of a surprise, and not an entirely welcome one. I also had chili paneer, because I'm a sucker for a good fusion dish. The paneer was great, but I ordered it extra spicy and it was really not. At all. It wasn't even medium. Kind of sweet, and rather passive on the heat. The biryani rice wasn't bad. But it wasn't great either. Overall it was a mid experience. I would have rated them a little higher, but the price was a bit heftier then the food that was provided. I didn't hate it, I'm glad they were open, but I won't exactly be back next time I'm in Barrie

One of the few Indian restaurants that are not closed by 9:00 pm here in Barrie…read more It's located very close to the exit 96-A of Highway 400 N. The restaurant has a pretty large seating space to avoid unintentional eavesdropping. There's adequate lighting that doesn't force the patrons to guess what is it that they are eating. Our server, forgot his name, was very welcoming and made some interesting recommendations as well. When it comes to the food, at least on the menu there are a lot of options, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, to choose from. We tried the Chicken Tikka for starters and absolutely loved it. For the mains, we ordered the Butter Chicken but felt the curry was a tad too sweet to our liking. I did feel that they were understaffed for the night and with the surge in patrons our server was overwhelmed and forgot to provide serving spoons. That being said, I am definitely gonna revisit this place to try some of the other options they offer on the menu.

On the highway we observed advertisement for twisted indian and so thought of trying it . Our first restaurant at Barrie was twisted Indian. We ordered veggie wrap and it's like indian burrito with lentils, yellow rice , yogurt , Chutney, Fresh veggies. A short story about Jersey Mike's, I went to their location which opened at Union Station in…read moreToronto when it first opened and while I liked the subs the customer service was very bad. When I noticed they open in North Barrie, I thought I would give it a shot. It is slightly larger than the Union Station spot and actually had tables. On to the menu I had giant Club Sub with roast beef, Turkey and bacon and had a chipotle chicken cheesesteak regular with a large drink and a bag of french onion crisps . A word to the wise, I consider myself a healthy eater, but do NOT get a giant sub with Jersey Mike's unless you have not eaten in a week. The giant sub is just too big for one person to eat in one sitting . One thing with Jersey Mikes the subs are very fresh , you can see the care they take in putting your subs together. Both subs tasted fantastic . The bread was spongy fresh. The veggies were clean and crisp and there was a lot of meat on the subs. The big difference between these two locations was that Barrie location's customer service was similar to the American stores that I heard about from my friends in the states who were raving about this franchise. You can see the meat and cheeses getting sliced in front of you with this location and they actually took the time to chat with you and check to see you enjoying the food. Yes I know they just opened and there were some minor errors but that happens for all new locations with chains. The trainers (I think they were American) were there to go over the corrections. All in All it was good value and a fine start for Jersey Mikes in Barrie. I will be going back to try the different varieties of subs and checking out their cookies as well.
