My room was at the back end of the house overlooking the courtyard which meant I did not hear any street traffic. During the rain storm on the first night, I may have been visited by a few spirited guests who insisted on clanging some doors (even though the doors all around me were closed tight - I checked.). My room - Audubon - was occupied at one time by Dwight D Eisenhower. The room across the hall was occupied by Lady Bird Johnson at one point. Lots of lovely antiques abound. The courtyard was really nice, but I wished the adjacent restaurant was open to provide a little more atmosphere. It seems the access to the historical tunnels have gone into disrepair, so you can't get to it. I will be staying again not only because I liked the hotel but also because the staff is awesome. I actually lost my car keys while I was staying there, and they drove me to my car and made sure I was taken care of with my Fed Ex package that had my new key in it! Super awesome people. There were 2 really good restaurants within a block of the hotel: Cafe Adobo - fantastic and has a great look. Texas Cafe is simple, small town, and yummy.

The word "mum" comes from the kind of flower that traditionally anchors the entire arrangement. "Mum" is short for chrysanthemum.The tradition originated in Missouri in 1911, but Texans made it our own by adding school colors and ribbons to the chrysanthemums. The first mum in Texas was seen at a Baylor University football game in 1936. Mums are a token of affection, and they reflect the wearer's interests, hobbies, clubs, and activities. While the specifics of the tradition do vary by high school, generally speaking, homecoming mums in Texas are worn by students to certain homecoming activities including (but not limited to) a parade, pep rally, football game, and even to class on homecoming day. Sometimes these activities are all on the same day, but more often they are not. In Texas, the homecoming game refers to a football match-up played on Friday night, although for schools without a football program, their sport of choice may be basketball or another athletic activity. Thing two is in the philharmonic, is a cheerleader, on the track team, etc. So I needed a mum that spoke to at least one of those activities. Since I paid for one mum that I didn't get, I looked to a local vendor. I found CTX Spiritwear. This local shop was able to deliver a fantastic mum at lower price than the Etsy vendor and this mum was more extravagant (the more extravagant the mum, the better...because its Texas and the bigger the better). I was able to order and get the mum in less than two days and it was customized as I requested. The mum was a hit at the Homecoming (HOCO) parade and was well made. I highly recommend Christy as the work she produced is flawless and quick. #supportlocal
