The food here is AMAZING! I have not had anything I wouldn't order again and again! The egg rolls and veggie egg rolls are the best I've ever ever had! Anything with Hongs in front of it is spectacular! I'm from Las Vegas and this is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had! I go there at least twice a week now. This family restaurant deserves 5+ stars because it has a super friendly staff and the most mouthwatering foods on its menu. I had tasted many styles of lobster and crab special, but this restaurant has the far best style; the lobster's meat is so fresh and soft, especially the well-balanced taste and the sweetness of the baby lobster's meats. There was just the right balance of flavors of ingredients while I indulged on each peace of meats. I even tasted the crispiness of the fresh garlics in every bite. The flavor was so delicious that I cleaned its sauces before the plate was taken away. This style of lobster is so special that you will not find it anywhere else. Once tasted it, it will engraved in your mind, and you will not try any other style of lobster special anywhere else because there is absolutely no comparison. If you are planning to visit the greater Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, this is a must stop to indulge its delicious foods. Also and if you are planning to try its off menu items, I highly suggest that you call a day or two in advance for its best prepared meal worth for an emperor, empress or the royals. read more

This is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Every dish I've tried has been incredible but my favourite thing is their beef pastry's.

I hate it when I decide to treat myself to someone else doing the cooking only to get ripped off. That is exactly what I got with Hong's Kitchen. I was looking for a Chinese Food Restaurant that delivers, not easy to find. So basically my choice of restaurants was only Hong's Kitchen. I read some positive reviews and looked at the menu online. There were several dishes not typically served in most Chinese Food Restaurants. Knowing from previous Chinese takeout, there would be enough food for 4 meals, I ordered 3 beef Egg Rolls, an order of 10 Pan Fried Dumplings, Mixed Vegetables in Oyster Sauce & Chef's Style Scallops. There was very little beef in what was mainly an Egg Roll wrapper folded into a triangle. The Dumplings were not well cooked, they were slimy and bland. The oysters were not fresh, they were fishy and rubbery with a thin batter which was in some sort of liquid making them slimy as well. There were only 8 scallops in the order I paid $16.95 for. The Mixed Vegetables was also in a very small amount and it had noodles mixed in with it, there may have been 1 cup of vegetable in the order. I knew what the total would be before I placed my order (just under $54., plus a $5. tip), but I was treating myself & that comes with a price, plus it was being delivered & I thought there would be enough for 4 meals. But I was wrong there was only a little more than 2 meals and I'm talking modest portion sized meals, not like other Chinese Restaurants, dinner sized plate so full to almost overflowing, could never eat all in one sitting without exploding, sized meals. Also, they do not take debit at the door. They take cash, who has cash, especially $60. worth? They also take credit card, that is processed prior to order being started. I was not happy to give my credit card information to some random restaurant worker over the phone, yet that is in fact exactly what I did. I was completely dissatisfied with my order, the small portion sizes, the over all taste and texture of the food, the price based on the small amount of food received and the fact they do not take debit at the door. I will never order from Hong's Kitchen again, nor will I dine in knowing the quality of the food. Very disappointed in Hong's Kitchen. I got RIPPED OFF!! read more

It's bben a while since I have been here, but I do remeber that the food was great! My poison was always the Won Ton Soup. Always a delicious choice for me, the staff there were great to deal with and knew what I was talking about. They called a certain meat dragon meat, (if I can remeber that correctly), but I do believe it was pork. But non the less this place is small but has great food. read more

The Ginger Fried Shredded Beef is one of the best in the HRM (I would have a glass of their ginger sauce with every meal if could LOL). Also, I am not typically a big fan creamed corn in any form, but the Cream Corn Soup with Crab Meat has become a dish a get on nearly every visit to Hong's. How do I give this more stars?!?! For the 4 of us (we eat a lot), we ordered the pork dumplings, mapo tofu with pork (need to request the pork), gai lan (off their authentic menu), Singapore noodles, garlic stalk beef, and 1/2 BBQ duck with 2 bowls of steamed rice to balance out the salty dishes we ordered. We had half the garlic beef, a spoonful of tofu and half a bowl of rice leftover because it was a lot of food. The mapo tofu brought me to tears--probably (100%) because I'm pregnant--and was the standout dish of the night. Just a hint of spicy kick from the Szechuan peppercorns and the tofu was so soft and saucy. The sauce on the BBQ duck was bonkers and seemed to get better throughout the meal. The gai lan was very lightly dressed and the perfect side of greens to our otherwise heavy meal. The total bill was just over $100 before tip. Will be coming back. The server recommended the Szechuan eggplant and ginger beef for the next visit, but I don't know... we seemed to have found the perfect order already. If you live in HRM, it's worth the detour out to Lower Sackville. Hell, we made the trip out from Kentville and plan on going back regularly. This has absolutely been my favourite Chinese food experience in Nova Scotia. Unreal. read more

Last night the daughter wanted it so we did a quick search to find something that had some gluten free options & we found Hong's Kitchen. MASSIVE menu with tons of selection. I don't know what has happened at Hong's over the past year or so but what was once a reliable, consistent restaurant has become just the opposite. Maybe the eat-in meals are still good but the take away just isn't doing it. And if we order anything with broad noodles in it, we have to throw at least part of it, sometimes all of it out as the noodles are just one big clump. We're giving up trying and moving on. read more

Nice - the recommended beef pastry were a bit disappointing and we won't be ordering them again but the honey pepper chicken was delicious.

If I could live off of their honey pepper chicken and garlic shoots I would... maybe I can!!

I was driving on sackville drive and saw the sign says sweet and sour chicken is glisten free. Because I'm allergic to gluten, I have to eat gluten free. It was delicious!!!! I also want to try their monthly special but the special is a noodle dish. So I asked if I can sub with rice? And the waitress said yes without a charge. Again, delicious!!!
