All of her UC prompts were just ideas at that point. Our first meeting with Julia was a long conversation, during which she helped extract a full list of extracurricular activities and developed ideas for the essays, personal statement, and Common App essay. Over the following weeks, I watched each essay come together and be finalized one by one. She created a list of schools and a structured calendar that kept my daughter on track. I'm happy to say this was the best investment we could have made. My daughter was accepted to UC Berkeley and several other colleges. The peace of mind I had knowing Julia was managing the college application process was priceless. She is knowledgeable and competent, and she brings so much compassion to her work. There were many times when I felt overwhelmed, and she was always able to calm me down. I only have one regret--not using her services for my oldest son during his college application journey. I am confident that Julia will continue to be a valuable part of my children's educational journeys, whether it's navigating college course enrollment, updating resumes and LinkedIn profiles, or applying to graduate school.

What impressed me most about Liz is how she partnered so closely with my son on every step of the college admissions process, teaching him how to be responsible for his work, while shielding us parents from the day-to-day stress of it all. With Liz's guidance, my son learned to take ownership of his college admissions journey, from the early research phase, where she helped him figure out what he wanted out of his college experience, to drafting smart, authentic essays that showcased the best parts of his personality. She also created a killer SAT prep strategy for my son, which involved selecting the right tutor for him and steering him toward taking the test early in 11th grade, which was incredibly effective. She made sure he prepared ALL of his materials well in advance, so there was no scrambling. Best of all, Liz built a great relationship with my son over weekly zoom meetings, and was deeply invested in his progress every step of the way. My son trusted Liz's guidance and judgement completely, and we quickly learned that she understands this process like no one else. Working with Liz was an excellent experience and I can't recommend her highly enough!

Liz really took the time to get to know my daughter, which helped selecting the right fit for her when it comes to majors and schools. She was very meticulous in editing the essays and very skillful to handle our anxiety as parents during this process. She was also very pragmatic and realistic when selecting schools. My daughter was accepted to the Fall semester to 11 universities of the 12 she applied, and was on waitlist in one of them. She ended up getting in her first choice, which was USC. I could not be happier with Liz Marx work.

The weekly essay workshops that started in early summer were super helpful. What I loved most was getting feedback from different teachers each week - they all brought unique ideas to the table and helped me make my essays much better. One thing that really helped was how organized A1 was with deadlines. They laid out a clear schedule that made sure we finished everything way ahead of time, which took away so much stress. My monthly meetings with the counselors, Ryan and Esther, were amazing - they helped me figure out which schools to apply to, what major would be the best fit, and how to tell my story through my essays. I also worked closely with Maddie teacher on my resume and UC activity list. She helped me make sure I included all my important experiences and achievements in the best way possible. Even though I ended up getting into NYU through early decision (which meant I didn't need my other applications), I'm so glad I had everything ready to go well before the deadlines for any outcome that could have happened. Looking back, I wouldn't be where I am today without A1's help. The teachers really cared about my success, and they gave me all the tools and support I needed to put together strong applications. I'm really grateful for all their help!

But, it was challenging to evaluate that before committing to move forward with one firm. I'm sharing this review of Beth because she was exactly what I was looking for. In my admissions call, the admissions officer told me one of my application reviewers said they were hard-pressed to find anything wrong with my application. Beth made a significant impact on my application in two ways: (1) In all areas of the application, especially the essays, she maximized the portion of content that Kellogg admissions officers care about. Before working with Beth, I had iterated my essays several times and thought they were in a decent spot. After she reviewed, it turned out only a small fraction was content Kellogg admissions officers actually care about. We worked together to maximize the portion of the content admissions officers care about and pared down the rest. (2) While I had a high-level idea of what a good application looked like, I didn't have a crystal clear picture, and as a consequence, I found I would iterate on application components much more than necessary because I wanted to be sure they were as good as possible. Beth let me know when each one was in a good state so I could focus my time effectively, and that allowed me to put adequate effort into every portion of the application. There's nothing magic in those two items, which is why I recommend her so highly: I'm confident that her impact on my application is repeatable with any application. I could tell in working with her that she's evaluated thousands of Kellogg applications, and that makes her uniquely suited to advise in those two areas.

The SBC team works together to create a holistic experience. Bill took the time to understand my goals before pairing me with a consultant. Amy spent countless hours with me understanding what made me tick and helping me translate that into an application. Beth flight tested my application and made sure that there weren't any glaring holes, and Anthony helped me prep for my Wharton Team Based Discussion. By far the most valuable part of this process was having Amy by my side. No question was too trivial for her, and she had limitless patience with me as I obsessed over every detail of my application. Amy's most valuable contribution, however, was her ability to help me focus on the RIGHT details. It is easy to lose sight of what you are building as you write the applications from the ground up, and it can be particularly challenging not to write applications based on what you THINK the AdComms WANT to hear. Amy encouraged me to embrace my authentic voice, and ensured that I was telling a story that highlighted who I am as a human. Thanks to Amy and the SBC team I was admitted to FIVE MBA programs: GSB, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, and Stern (with a full ride).
