When I lived in Bend, life was easy. If you needed to recycle your old engine oil, no problem!…read more There were several local auto parts stores that would allow you to drop off your oil for free. One, Baxter Auto Parts, even had a 55 gallon drum in the back and you could drain your oil yourself at anytime of the day. When I loved to Hood River, things got complicated. I went to every auto parts store and oil change place. Surely someone would take my used oil?! I was told by several people that our friendly, local recycling people would take it. Just make sure it's in clear plastic containers they said! So, that's what I did. I had a lot of oil to recyle by this point. I filled up one milk jug, an orange juice conatiner, and a 2.5 gallon DEF container and put it out by the curb with my recycling. And when I got home, of course I got a nasty-gram stating they couldn't take all my oil. I was fed bad information. Not only does your oil need to be in clear plastic jugs, but it also need to be in ONE GALLON jugs. I have no idea why this would be, but them's is the rules. I swear, they are the most overpriced and picky garbage service in existance! I wish we had competition in this town like larger cities in terms of our garabge service. They monopoly they have with poor service and high prices has got to go!

The customer service is despicable. From the guys in the truck to the people in the office that answer the phones, they don't give a two shitz about your concern. If I could give it zero stars I would. We are new to town and to think we don't have another option is ridiculous. They obviously know that and take advantage. I hate this company with a passion and I don't use the word hate.

Hood River Garbage Service - Clear plastic jugs is what your motor oil needs to be in. Nope! Clear AND one gallon jugs. How could I have been so stupid!?

Beautiful floral shop that has a wide variety of houseplants, pots, succulents, large planters,…read morecards & gifts in addition to making lovely floral arrangements and bouquets. While driving down 12th Street, the lush green plants in the window caught my attention. The next day I had to come back and check it out. The owner and those working there are so friendly in that small town way that doesn't exist in many places. Well it's on full display here! When I explained that I was trying to replace two orange bromeliads, they offered to order some for me. Bromeliads or any plant I need that is not in the store. When I mentioned that my large aloe is covered in white, scale fungus or mites, they informed me that it is lacking light . I've Googled this a dozen times and that never came up! Shopping here is as much about getting educated on how to care for your plants to as it is about finding a specific plant. The goal is for the plant to thrive long term. While perusing the shop, I noticed some planters filled with three or four indoor houseplants that would be a stunning gift or an arrangement for your own home. Especially the ones that had a pop of color from the African Violets. I may have to go back for one! All the plants were healthy and thriving. There were anthurium with waxy, shiny, red heart shaped leaves; snake plants that are so easy to maintain; lots of pathos that are super easy to grow; an assortment of orchids in multiple colors; and a plethora of succulents and air plants. The shop is small but everything is styled so nicely that they fit in a lot of inventory while still keeping it spacious so customers can easily make their way around. Loved everything about this shop! So happy to find a plant and floral shop in the heights of Hood River.
