    The bro-est of all bros.
    Anna W.

I don't normally like to swear in my Yelp reviews (keeping it family friendly and all that), but I have to say this about Hoodslam: THIS. IS. REAL. THIS. IS. REAL. HO-LY. SHIT. HO-LY. SHIT. Now imagine that being chanted over and over at the top of your lungs. Then imagine a warehouse packed full of people doing the same thing, fist pumping full beers into the air. All of this, headed by the bro-est of all bros, "Broseph" Joe Brody. We were here for Fuck the Fans V: BROetic Justice (sorry, there's just so much swearing involved in these events that there's no avoiding it). Every first Friday night, a warehouse near Jack London Square turns into the bro-est, most amateur, most "realest" night of wrestling EVER. If only Yelp would let me upload videos (not a video review, but a video of the event). The events of the night were Cereal Man v. Scorpion, Lights-On, Falls-Count-Anywhere match between Shelly Martinez and "Ultragirl" Brittany Wonder, Booze v. Blunts Tag Team Grudge Match, Prince of Darkness match between El Flacco Loco and Doc. Atrocity, a four-way match for the Golden Gig between Juiced Lee, El Chupacabra, Virgil Flynn III and Drugz Bunny and the 21-and-over (the top rope) battle royale to top off the night. It was hot, it was humid, it was sweaty, it was in your face. It was drunk. It was 420 everywhere. It was amazing. IT. WAS. REAL. Seriously, a lot of fun and totally worth the $10 cover at the door. Everything's cash only, so come prepared.

    Mike G.

The cover is now $20. We parked in Jack London parking lot, which is only .6 miles from the event. We got here around 8:45, the line it around the corner, and took us about 30~35 mins to get in It is hot inside and loud, during the break the metal banding is playing. It is definitely 420 friendly. Mix drinks (Jack/coke) is about $7. The wrestling match is entertaining and the crowd is really into it. Ladies, just remember, this place is PACKED, so if you are pushing yourself through the crowd, you might get some unwanted physical contacts. I saw few angry shouting matches. Like I told my friend, I'm glad I did and I enjoyed it. But once is enough.

    Near the back.

There were quite a few matches throughout the night, including characters like Cereal Man, Prisoner 420, and my bf's fave, Bart-Man, doing their thing.

This is the most beautiful venue I have ever visited…read more I love the layout with multiple bars on the back wall. It was very easy to grab a drink whenever I wanted. The merch stand could be in a better spot, but this is an old theater and that wasn't a thing back when it was built. I was amazed by the size of the stage once I got to the floor. From the outside I had no idea how tall it would be. The balcony is huge and for some shows would be a great view. I was on the barricade singing along to New Constellations and The Midnight. It sounded so good and I can't wait to come back for another show!

Pros: - I like that it's a smaller intimate venue, which makes it perfect for acts that are big names but maybe not popular right now (I think Passion Pit was a great example of that actually). - Really accessible bar in the back area, drinks are probably like $20 ish after tax, which I think is fair for avenue. I actually love that they have these reusable cups that you can dump in a special bin next to the trash cans, and they theoretically wash and reuse them. Had a really tasty and strong Dark n' Stormy there. - Very accessible and easy to get here - so easy to take BART from anywhere else in the East Bay and just walk over to the venue a couple blocks. - Pretty good air circulation if you get tired of being sweaty near the stage, you can go back to the other GA sections if you need to Cons: - Kind of a "smaller" vibe, so if it's someone playing who's REALLY popular, I could see it getting really crowded in the front pit area - Sound quality can feel a bit echo-y sometimes

I feel like it's just not for me. Now, I'm giving 1 star because I have further concerns about their professionalism and customer service considering the owner kept changing their response to my other review to random rude replies. First they wrote in all caps saying I'm spam, then they said something like "your car wasn't even ever here".Maybe they are confusing me with another customer and not intentionally trying to manipulate the feedback to discredit my review, but I still can't recommend this place by the odd and unprofessional behavior toward customers regardless of who they think I am instead of offering the typical kindness that you'd expect from a business. It's safe to say I won't be giving this another shot in the future

The dancing and their voices were very strong. The main cast was charismatic. I figured this would be amateurish like how summer shows are portrayed on tv shows but this is talented cast with nice sets and production value with some effects. These is definitely a lot dedicated staff that puts a lot of love into the shows. What's amazing is the cast only recently performed a different show. These guys are amazing! The food at the concession stands was yummy and the bathrooms were clean. Some door latches in the ladies room need to be realigned because they couldn't be latched but I expected portopotties so was happy have clean bathrooms with working soap dispensers and paper towels. The weather was pretty chilly all day so I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't freezing my tush last night. A couple of blankets and a thermos of warm liquids did the trick. And, thank you to the generous donors who allow kids to watch for free. First night shows are also discounted for adults. For those who want to introduce your kids to theater without worrying that they can't sit through a whole productions this is an excellent family friendly way to give them a taste. The adult drop in class packages work best for me and I've been consistently attending Sam (primarily silks and lyra) and Megan's (trapeze) classes. I called the front desk to make my initial purchase because there were so many options, I couldn't decide what I wanted based on my schedule. Fortunately, Janelle (front desk) was very patient and helpful, and I ended up getting the 10 class pack. When I got there, it was a bit intimidating because I was more used to smaller studios, but everyone here was so nice. Janell also made sure to check on me to see if I was doing ok when I took my first class. The other students and teachers were very welcoming and supportive to check out other classes, which is how I ended up with taking two classes back to back at-least once a week instead of just one class. In regards to the teachers, "great" would be such an understatement. I love Sam's class because even though it's primarily silks, they'll put one other apparatus (hoop mainly, and recently flying pole!) for us to try out-so it's more than just one apparatus in this one class. I also really like that they'll give us challenging *enough* moves because it's so satisfying to execute steps after struggling so much for it. I also love Megan's trapeze class because she's very flexible with our experiences. This pace is great for me because I don't have alot of experience with trapeze and the ropes on it feel so different from silks! Nikki and Zi have substituted for their classes and they're both amazing as well. I'd highly recommend taking classes here. It's a fun and challenging workout compared to a regular gym...I also love that it's spacious too!
