I played here the first time I was living in the Marais in 2012. I arrived on a hot Sunday around noon and started playing 2 on 2 and then 3 on 3. So within the hour, there were several people waiting; enough to run 5 on 5 full court. I suggested in English that we pick up 1 person on each team and run full court. That is when I got my response from one of the local players. "We are French. We fought for a 35 hour work week and you want us to run up and down the full court? No. That will not happen." Hilarious. Don't expect to run full court here. Ever. Some rules: Winners stay on. New team gets ball (this is up for debate) Whoever has next must pick up anyone waiting and not someone coming off the losing team who just played. So in France, the game is about making passes and constantly moving and setting picks. If you now how to pick and roll, you'll fit right in.

Also I've been fascinated with seeing this stadium ever since someone gave me as a gift the Gods of the Stadium calendar (mostly naked calendar of French national rugby team, who play here). 5 star staff: unlike the angry almost actively hostile staff at a soccer match in Marseille, Parisians bucked the stereotype and were amazingly friendly and helpful. One usher even sat with us and gave play by play commentary ( he just hopped up to do his volunteer thing when someone looked lost). Merci Jean-Louis! 4 star location: the stadium itself is reasonably new and has been shined up for the Olympics. As a giant stadium before and after the Olympics, logistics were already figured out and easy. Signage was also great, in five languages.

In A Nutshell:…read more -AccorHotels Arena was a nice venue for watching a French hip hop concert (Game Over 2). -As a huge fan of French rap the past 2 years, I was able to check out some of my favorite artists (Koba LaD, Naza, Alonzo, etc...) at this arena. -Scored some last minute tickets on Stub Hub & I was dumbfounded on how good of the seat was. -I was literally a few feet away from the stage, first row, right above the standing room only crowd. -The sound system was perfect, as well as the lighting. -The beers were light, but hey it's hard to find good beers outside of the USA. -Bathrooms were clean, security was nice. Overall, AccorHotels Arena was easy to find, you can take an Uber to/from here with ease.

A cross between a cultural lounge, sports arena, dance studio and day-care center, the 104 rocks…read more(especially if you've got kids in Paris and are looking for a cool place to let them run around while you soak up the scenery). After a lackluster opening a couple of years back, the 104 has finally come into its own and is bursting at the seems with coolitude. On a recent visit we did the follow incongruous but totally awesome things: - Watched a slew of hip hoppers practice their break dancing in the central atrium - Drink coffee that we ordered from a stationary pizza truck - Take videos of ourselves running around like fools without giving a hoot - Walk through a maze of ribbons - Hang out in a day care center with a dozen or so other parents while watching our kid run and play in a totally safe space. Might I add that all of this was FREE! Yes, they have paid exhibitions at the space too, but honestly you could make an afternoon out of 104 without spending a dime. This is the type of place that makes you fall in love with France all over again.
