Took the kids here today and it was 100% worth the 1.5 hour drive from LA. MOXI is super hands-on…read moreand perfect for kids to just explore and play without getting bored. Every exhibit actually keeps them engaged not just looking, but doing. The interactive tables (like the spinning drum and dice games) were a hit. My kids didn't want to leave and kept going back to the same stations. It's also really clean, organized, and easy to navigate even with little ones. Pricing was reasonable for what you get abbout $25 for adults, $20 for kids, and under 2 is free, which is nice. Staff was friendly and everything felt well-maintained. You can tell they designed this place with kids in mind but adults still have fun too. Definitely a solid family day trip spot from LA. Would come back again

Pros: Close to the train stop…read more Lots of interactive activities Sensory cave to help battle overstimulation Cons: Not good for infants and toddlers. The lactation pod was super loud and not a great place to pump, luckily had the sensory cave. Their infant and toddler room is for walkers only because they don't close it off and make people take their shoes off so definitely not okay for babies like they claim who need a clean environment. Also very little toys. Better if you can already climb and walk. Expensive! They have a 90 mile rule for using reciprocal kids museums and Pasadena's Kidspace is 89 miles away. $25 an adult is not worth it for the parents of a non crawler.

My daughter has been riding with Sadie for the 2 1/2 years now but am just now writing a review…read morebecause a) I feel I have enough background at this point to share an informed review, and b) I see some negative reviews that confuse me. RP was recommended to me by another parent at my daughters school and I was taken with RP immediately. Sadie loves her animals, and passes that love and respect on to the kids. While my daughter is not required to muck or feed, she loves taking part in these essential activities which are part of the whole horse experience. Caring for the horses is a beautiful thing and it has created such a bond between my daughter and all the horses, even the ones she doesn't ride. This, as well as all the general horse-care instructions Sadie imparts is what has made my daughter so comfortable on and around horses. I have shared RP with 3 other families that have all had great experiences with Sadie. RP is a small, family-run organization. As I see it, they are providing the community with a wonderful service: the chance for kids to learn horsemanship and riding skills without spending a fortune. As a former horse owner, I know Sadie is not making money off RP. She's doing it because she wants to share her love of animals/horses with kids. That is exactly what she's done with my daughter and I am so grateful to have a place like this in SB.

Does your kid want to spend all day at the beach hanging out with cool surfers who do gymnastics…read moreand crafts and being allowed to just follow their bliss all day? Send them to Lobster Jo's! This camp is fabulous because it's just incredibly loosely structured; the kids get to do some fun games and activities and crafts, and they can surf and boogie board and swim and snorkel and paddle with supervision and expert assistance, and they can also just sit and dig holes all day, and they will get a high five and to pet the camp doggie! There are tons of sunny campers to supervise their all day play and help them all have a great experience. One of my kiddos had a hard time with waves and got scared (we aren't from here so she isn't super down with the ocean yet) and was hysterical, but one of the counselors was there to get her through that fear, offered her a private surf lesson the next day and got her excited about the ocean and she did some surfing and boogie boarding independently! The counselors are super kind and stoked to get all the kids to love the beach. Obvious this would be awesome for any locals, but I will add we came down from Seattle to go to a family reunion thing and we put our kids in this for the week, and it was the most brilliant vacation scheme ever; the kids got a great California experience, the adults got hours every day where we got to be kid free! I would highly recommend this if you have friends planning a summer vacation in SB to suggest they look into if this camp is happening!

They make sure the kids have fun while also ensuring they reapply sunscreen and stay hydrated. As a result of this camp, my daughter has gone from liking the beach to loving both the beach AND swimming/boarding/paddling in the ocean. Can't wait to do it again next summer.

But then it got weird. Feeling out of place with the group, I must have said something awkward that was misunderstood by Tom. When I asked about switching days to make up my monthly classes and to credit that I had already paid for, he disqualified me and said he no longer wanted to work with me. I was genuinely hurt. I really wanted to learn and he made me feel like I was this terrible person for saying something that was misunderstood. I still remember how bad my experience was, that I'm afraid to go out and try again . Maybe I would have "clicked better with a women instructor, but Tom was mean and hurtful.

I'm her mother on there FOR HER SAFETY. There is way too large of an age range for "open gym" - groups of 16 yr old boys aggressively running around past my small 2 yr old just trying to cross a small obstacle course. The initiation fee is already a joke... $60 just for joining on top of the monthly $150... then less than 2 weeks after paying over $200 just to join you try to sneakily charge us $150 again?? And now when I try to call to talk to someone about all this your lines sound like you haven't paid your phone bill so I can't even speak to anyone??? I don't think I've ever come across a more poorly run business. I don't think I've ever been upset enough to leave a bad yelp review, but I certainly am now. And now, after reading all the other bad reviews of this business... including someone who discovered the owners dog bit their child and left a nasty bruise during a class and nobody told the parents... I'm just so sad a place like this exists. Please do not bring your children here.

It was outdoors - no air conditioning on a blazing hot day. They came back exhausted, dehydrated, sunburned. The instructors were overwhelmed, undertrained, and punitive. I called and requested a partial refund for the remainder of the week as we had paid for camp plus before and after camp that we would not be using. No dice. They would give me half of what I paid as a store credit. What!? The manager didn't even ask why we had a bad experience. DID NOT CARE. We will not be returning. Please save your money and stay away.
