My review is over a experience I had with HOPE when I tried to schedule an appointment for my daughter. I had utilized their online scheduling service to request an appointment 4 weeks in advance. I received an email back from HOPE stating my date and time were available and that they could accommodate me. The email continued to state that they provide helmets and tack and that their barn was heated so my daughter could dress appropriately. Nothing stated I still had to confirm a time or pay up front (I would have not had an issue with either had I known). Fast forward to 4 weeks later, I send a text message to confirm that my daughter's lesson was still on (we had had a snowstorm the day before). At this time I was informed that the lesson had never been scheduled because I had not confirmed. I was offered a time for group lessons during the week, which was not convenient for me. I told them I would have to go somewhere else. I then placed a review on their Facebook page. This initiated a private Facebook message to me from the owner chastising me for placing a bad review and attacking her family business. She went on the detail the hardships her family is going through, banned me from attending HOPE in the future and then asked me to remove the review. I informed her that I would not remove the review and she really had no idea what others are going through as well. The owner then proceeded to place a post on the Facebook page calling me "entitled" because I did not "get my way" and she requested all her friends place 5 star reviews to bring their status back up. During this entire time she did not once apologize for the miscommunication or state she would change their procedure to prevent it happening. She continued to personally attack me on the HOPE Facebook page and her personal page. Due to this level of unprofessional conduct, due to a booking error/miscommunication on their program's part - I would suggest that someone interested in HOPE utilize a phone instead. UPDATE I have been threatened by the owner with litigation for slander and harassment for my review. She has continued to publicly attack me, has others also attacking me on her Facebook page. read more

Attached are photos of my horse shortly after arrival (a healthy weight), and photos of her condition when I brought her home. I worked for this barn from July-October in exchange for lessons and training on my horse. My horse was ridden twice by Rona, the owner, and once by Meghan, her barn manager in this time, and I was given a handful of lessons and a handful of practice "free" rides, despite putting in hours upon hours of work. I was also told to give lessons, tours, and guide trail rides by the owner on multiple occasions, despite not being trained or experienced enough to do so. My horse, who while not the kind of horse that gets fat on air, is not a particularly hard keeper, began to drop weight while at HOPE, and was lethargic. I also suggested both my farrier and hay farmer to Rona shortly after my arrival. Their first times out, both were paid. The second time however, Rona had lost her checkbook and offered to send checks out to them the next day. Several weeks later, neither had been paid, and the hay farmer had threatened legal action. Upon leaving, I was threatened with legal action for "slander", and accused of stealing books which had been returned months prior. The owner harassed me for several weeks, despite being told to cease all contact with me as it was harassment. There are many wonderful barns in the area, this is just not one of them. read more

I work as a therapist with children who have endured trauma, hardships and often lack fun experiences such as horseback riding. I was able to take 6 of the children (ranging in age from 8-14) that I work with for an afternoon of horseback riding. From the moment we set foot at HOPE Horsepark, the children were welcomed with open arms by Rona and all the staff. Every effort was made to help them feel comfortable, and help them to have a memorable time. Rona and the staff taught the children about the horses, allowing the children to groom and care for the horses before riding them. The children were given one on one attention, the staff talked with them and treated them with respect and love. I watched children initially hesitant and nervous as the riding began, transform over the hour into children sitting tall and confident. As we headed towards the van to go home, one of the young boys stated quietly under his breath, "That was SO cool..." That pretty much sums up our experience at HOPE Horsepark. The HOPE Horsepark is a beautiful private property with very kind and professional staff. I went on a trail ride lesson as a gift for my 31st birthday and had a blast. There were several ponds, wooded trails, and fields on the property which made for a very scenic ride. I'm a beginner so I was escorted and taught by staff on the ground, the entire time. Never once did I feel unsafe (or lost). To top it off, the horses were very well cared for - it is clear that the staff know horses and care about their needs first. They are passionate about rescuing animals and I was happy to hear that most of their animals are rescued. Two thumbs up. read more

My 5 year old son started here last year and he has learned so much from Rona. Rona not only teaches how to ride bareback but also how to truly take care of a horse and what exactly they need. My son can have trouble listening and understanding and Rona's consistency helped him grasp quickly and love it. She also has rescued horses from inhumane situations and given them another chance. Hillary is another instructor who has a sweet personality and is very calm with quieter shy children, Hilary has a love for children and the horses. read more

So this is a barn unlike any other we have tried. We have been treated like family and the love and care Rona and Hillary show for their barn family is astonishing. Fiercely protective, friendly, knowledgeable, giving, and with a concern for rider safety that is comforting for this overprotective parent. Rona is amazing. To put it into words... My son struggles at times to focus (like most 5 year old boys) and she doesn't even let it get to her. She knew how to work with him and we have seen great joy and progress from my son. And he has a love for animals, and getting to ride horses has been a blessing. I would recommend Rona and all that work with her. She is a loving and kind woman, her son fights cancer and she works to provide for his family. I did say that she is amazing! read more

My 10 year old daughter has been taking riding lessons with Rona since September and has fallen in love with the sport. Not only does she love being around the horses but she loves being around Rona and everyone involved with HOPE Horsepark. This is a family environment where everyone feels welcome and comfortable. Rona and Hilary are amazing instructors who show patience, an abundance of knowledge, and genuine interest and care in all of their students. Highly recommended! read more

I was so incredibly impressed by the attention to every last detail as young children were led and shepherded by Rona and her volunteers. In just a short amount of time, children filled with trepidation prior to their ride were found sidled up to their new found friend, stroking their coats and smiling. My daughter has been taking lessons with HOPE, and Rona for two and a half years now. Rona and her staff are extremely talented and dedicated to what they do, and have been wonderful in helping my daughter learn how to be the best horsewoman she can be. She has claimed that she has contacted her lawyer because of my review being harassing. This women is the only one who has been harassing. Amazing! The staff welcomed us with open arms and taught my kids and I the way around horses and the barn. Rona loves animals and kids more than any person I've met and I cannot wait to get my kids back into lessons after our busy sports season!
