Unfortunately my husband injured his back at work. His co. Was based in Iowa and even though we live in Texas, he had to seek counsel in Iowa. He was a traveling Superintendent in the construction field. We chose Hope Law firm because we connected with Attorney Andrew Portis. He was a fighter and very much for his client. The work comp was denied from the start because Koester Construction lied about the injury to work comp. Straight up LIED! ( later this was proven at deposition) Andrew Portis was fierce and gave excellent representation! Then two days before deposition my husband was notified that Andrew Portis was no longer with Hope Law Firm. Our new representation would be Ryan Muldoon . WORST EXPERIENCE EVER IN OUR ENTIRE LIFE! Ryan was not interested in what happened. Didn't review the records obviously. Didn't communicate at all until the day of deposition! REPRESENTATION WAS POOR!!! My husband presented and defended himself! This case carried on for over a year with nothing happening! Hope Law firm NEVER GOT MY HUSBAND MEDICAL CARE! HOPE LAW NEVER GOT MY HUSBAND WORK COMP $$$! HOPE LAW FIRM IS THE OPPOSITE OF HOPE! The case finally went to mediation giving my husband short notice! Ryan Muldoon failed to prepare! In fact Ryan advised my husband to settle with their first offer of $50k My husband sad NO! At mediation, if you can call it that! Work comp offered $60k my husband again said NO. Ryan Muldoon tried get my husband to take the lowball settlement at every offer! During mediation the attorney, Ryan Muldoon barely spoke! MY HUSBAND NEGOTIATED EVERYTHING! MEDIATION LAST AROUND 4 HOURS I BELIEVE. MY HUSBAND GOT THE OFFER UP TO $120k !!!! No thanks to his attorney at all!! Horrible family law case. Justice, and truth completely outranked by simply checking off the boxes. Several instances where it was unclear whose side my lawyer was working for. Appeared afraid to ruffle anyone's feathers, such as Judge, opposing attorney, or senior partners within the firm. was not aggressive by any means. Depositions instigated by my lawyer ended up a complete waste of time, and certainly money - yet my lawyer claimed she needed it to prepare for trial - then later did everything possible to prevent me from going to trial. Poor return communication, yet expected quick responses from me. Make sure you have about twice as much money to waste, than what they tell you they think it will cost early on. The attorney asked my daughter to communicate with her ex, ex's attorney and court!!!! I myself even reached out to the attorney with no response or fight. She was lied to, left out to dry, left with no answers, no response, not protected in any way, didn't matter what she was dealing with in the nasty divorce and custody, her attorney, jennifer, DID NOTHING!!! A cautionary tale if you are considering hiring Jennifer Russell of Hope Law Firm. If you are a father who loves your children and has done nothing wrong other than anger your spouse, then seek help from anyone else. Jennifer never spoke to me despite me asking over and over to talk with her regarding my case. Jennifer took about 15 mins the day before court to tell me everything looks good. In reality, at the hearing, it was blatantly obvious that Jennifer was not prepared and fumbled through her defense of the accusations and lies being told by the other attorney. It was obvious that the other attorney had spoken with her client while Jennifer had not taken the time to understand the evidence of my spouses deceit that I provided let alone to understand from me what my ex may have been telling their lawyer so she could counter argue appropriately. To add insult to injury, I spoke with a lawyer who has over 3 decades of experience in family law in Iowa. That lawyer reviewed my case after the divorce was final and said that he knew Jennifer and knew for a fact that she knew better than to do what she did. This confirmed for me that Jennifer did not show care for my case or me as a person who was seeking help to protect their child from someone who exhibited narcissism and psychopathic traits. In the end, the mother won and within a couple months immediately started alienating me, the siblings, and over the years the mother groomed our child to turn against us. If you truly want someone to hear you out and fight for you, use anyone else, do not use Hope Law Firm, and especially do not use Jennifer. read more

For the sake of you and your children, find any other law firm because this one will in fact leave you with the complete opposite of any Hope. My divorce of a marriage lasting less than a year and a half transpired from me being assaulted (with my ex currently having criminal charges of domestic abuse/assault with injury and child endangerment), my child being kidnapped, federal offenses and multiple felonies (violations of court orders) taking place throughout, all of which I have audio, video, and photo proof of. Theft, harassment, and manipulation also consumed my life to all I have been told "It is what it is". Over the course of the last year and a half (Yes, my divorce has lasted longer than my marriage did.) I have consulted with other lawyers while seeking new representation, county attorneys, advocates, case workers, state officials, therapists, and other Hope law firm hirers, collectively, all are in complete disbelief and disgust with how my case was/is being represented by Jennifer Russell and her paralegals. However, in communicating with all of the listed above, this seems to be a very common thing for those assigned under Jennifer's name. I was lied to, ignored, information was withheld from me, events were prolonged, and communication is absolute trash. Jennifer also put a lien on the sell of my house to which now I can no longer close on because her lien request exceeds what I would get in proceeds from the sale. I lost my son, was forced to pay $923 in child support for over a year on a fraudulent submission to the court from my ex and her lawyer, I've lost my home, I'm on the brink of bankruptcy, I've lost my retirement, and absolutely nothing was done to defend or correct anything that has taken place. I was in fact told by Jennifer "I don't know how they did that." In having to do most of the work myself throughout my case I have somehow racked up a bill of almost $30,000 when in reality this law firm isn't worth the dime on the sidewalk and that's being generous. Aside from marrying my ex, hiring Hope law firm is the biggest mistake I have ever made. I highly encourage you to seek representation elsewhere. I wish more than anything I had done so and maybe I would have my baby boy back. if i could put a negative review on them i would! do not hire brian or jennifer for help with a criminal case. they are do not specialize in handeling criminal cases they left my husband hanging and lied to him during the entire case. they did not take any of his calls before going to court or prepare him, they lied to him! he was sentenced to prison after jennifer guaranteed she would get him 90 days in jail. knowing that she would not do anything for him the day of court. if you don't know how to handle a criminal case then dont take one!!!!! ! they never communicated with my husband about the case or anything. they were rude the staff is rude and disrespectful!!! they only took his money since he is not from iowa they buried him the day of his court. all through the judgement they lied thim.they only took his money ; they refused to answer my calls and speak to me after my husband was put in jail and instead they told me that they withdrew from his case !!!!!!!!!!!!!! they disnt represent him anymore and he needs to hire an appellate attorney and they have to handle it now............................. dont bother hiring these lawyers!!! now i know why they are located in such a nice beautiful building there in iowa. read more

I hired Travis Burke for a car accident that happened a few years ago, he and his staff have been great at keeping me informed and walking me through the process of going through a lawsuit. He was very helpful going into the deposition with the other party's attorneys. He has really helped put me at ease during the whole situation. It has been a long road (as courts are booked a year plus out), but he and his staff, especially his paralegal Christi has made things easier and less stressful! I needed a lawyer when my ex falsely accused me of abuse, in an effort to make me look bad and to get the house. I went to Hope Law Firm and was given the worst lawyer you could ever be unlucky enough to get. She did absolutely nothing for me and I lost my case because of it. She came to the courthouse and did not even know we were going in to court! How??!! Andrew fired her and gave me another lawyer for the divorce part, but they still charged me another $3k which I thought was wrong. I got the house, but have to pay alimony. What a crock! I would never recommend Hope Law Firm because of this and Andrew's lack of empathy for the situation his firm put me in. read more

I am going through a very difficult situation with an exhusband. He has not seen his son in 3 years but has filed contempt against me. I went to Hope Law Firm to seek help. The attorney took my case but had no idea how to "win it." I went through 1500 dollars worth of charges for emails back and forth but in that time she never offered a strategy to fight these charges. The one thing this law firm never offered was hope. Now I have to pay for her to withdraw herself from the freaking case. I hired an attorney for a divorce case. Months before the case I told the attorney (J.R.) about the issues related to custody. She assured me that she would be able to handle it. I tried to set up meetings with her before the trial and when she finally met with me she really had done no work and charged me hundreds for a phone call that was 80-90% social (e.g., her asking/talking about kids). The day of the trial she hadn't reviewed the case or the information I sent her. Her secretary, who was primarily on maternity leave, sent me a mess of attachments so when the other attorney or judge referred to attachments, they didn't match so I was left looking around like I didn't know what was going on. Though I had given the attorney several specific examples to use regarding my ex-husband's harassment towards me and the children and his drug use, she used none of it during our trial. She turned in arguments to the judge that were about three pages long while my ex-husbands lawyer sent in a comprehensive organized argument of about 14 pages. read more
