We stayed at Degay Lodge and it was the most wonderful peaceful experience. This is the first time…read morewe have stayed at the lodge as we are usually camping in the summertime. The staff allowed us to check in early and the room had an INCREDIBLE view of the lake. There is bicycle rentals (some have kid seats) and a nice playground for children on the grounds. The room contained a refrigerator but no microwave. The bed was really comfortable! The buffet breakfast does not come with the room and is an additional $7.99/person. The buffet features fresh fruit, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, pancakes, bacon, sausage, busicits, and scrambled eggs. The food was OK. A sunset boat tour of the lake for $8.50 (for an hour and a half) was one of the activities going on. There are many other activities in the park which we did not participate in. The walking trail around the lodge is lit up so you can enjoy it at night. This lodge is located 22 miles from Hot Springs so we enjoyed our day trips there.

The upstairs rooms have balconies that are shared which seemed a little strange at first but we got to meet the person staying next door and she was pleasant. They check all the boxes for the little things like shower has good water pressure, the AC works and is super quiet, the fridge and coffee maker work perfectly. Yeah it may not be as modern and chic as the big hotel chains but it's still a great place to stay.

Only caught 1 small fish. Lake Catherine is about 15- 20 minutes to Hot Springs. We drove around section C looking for good spots and found several. We never went into section A or B.
