Schedule in advance on the online portal and there are so many ways you can help this organization. I have been taking one week off a year from work to spend time here, and my team (local tech giant) prefers to spend our limited holiday event budget attending a packing event, they will schedule in advance. We replaced the white elephant gift exchange with donating a wrapped gift for the kids. Yes, they do that too!! Don't take my (or the anonymous complainers) word for it, just go check them out online or in person. The work they are doing for our community is amazing. I wish there were more organizations like this.

We would repackage grains, diapers, bagels, coffee, beans, etc. As well as sort cans and cereals into bins. It's a small place, but John seems to keep things running smoothly. They always seem to be overflowing with help and food around the holidays but slips from people's minds during the summer. It's disheartening to see the shelves get so bare. There are plenty of areas to volunteer, but parking is scarce. They offer a wide variety of foods to their patrons, sometimes including frozen meats and fresh produce. There is also a clothing bank run by Theresa in the other half of the building that we've donated to.

We were looking at a USED senior shower transfer bench and they told us we need to pay $50 when I found a Brand New One on Amz for $39.99!!! I'm scratching my head on and asked them who and how do they set the "price", they said the money received are used to pay for staff salary and utilities... but you are Selling your used and free donated items even higher than the retail stores which are in Brand New condition. If you are nearby in Redmond, you can go pay a visit but don't bother if you live further out...

I first heard of this organization at the parent's group at work recommending it as an organization to donate goods. I would religiously once a month head to their Issaquah hub on their Saturday morning hours to donate gently used clothes that our little people had outgrown along with toys and other accoutrements. With my then late aged elementary school daughter we were able to volunteer together and it was a great way to bond and show her the impact she could have as were sorting clothes on a Saturday morning or grouping clothes and other items for children many at a similar age to she. Most recently as I've decided to take a break from the hectic world of finance, it has been a great organization to be able to go in for a one time volunteer opportunity during a weekday. It has been great to be surrounded by kind people working together to try to help.

The answer, donate to Eastside Baby Corner. This also holds true for other baby/toddler/kiddo things, like toys, playsets, baby food (new of course) and other youth related item. One thing to note, they don't actually give your stuff away to families... they work with local non-profits and hospitals to find those in need, the distribute through them. Think of them as the best donated baby stuff distributor ever, with a goal of helping the dis-advantaged. Just a note, they are located within a complex of storage spaces, so it may be off putting at first, but drive right in, the place is well labeled. For the Donation Giver: Washing your baby clothing; Bag everything up, find out when they are open, and stop on by. Try to keep it to kiddo clothing/kiddo things/kiddo stuff, they can't actually do anything with adult clothing, except give to another organization. For the Volunteer: They have plenty of opportunities, including sorting, cleaning clothing, packing, and even repairing old baby toys/seats/gadgets. They always welcome the help, and know you are directly helping to impact the community across the eastside of the Puget sound. I have volunteered here, and they are great! Look, you have old baby stuff, you just can't stand to throw away... instead donate it to Eastside baby.

Each Friday is "Teen Feed", a safe place for kids to find a hot meal and hang out with others their age. Being in need is not a requirement, kids from all backgrounds appeared to be represented during my visit. I learned that the center provides some job training, including having the teens run the on site cafe. They have job training classes for baristas, including latte art! Career coaching, culinary art classes, yoga, piano, all kinds of cool classes! Music shows, open mic, art, plenty of activities keeping the local kids out of trouble. The center also provides many opportunities for kids to volunteer. Love it!

They have "Teen Feed" every Friday, where kids enjoy a hot meal and a safe place to hang out, socialize and play games. They have Barista classes, job skills training, community activism and volunteer opportunities, routinely host live shows featuring local teen bands, have silk screening classes and equipment time for rent, have audio mix/recording classes and rent studio time, and so much more. Centrally located by a movie theater, local park, library and the transit center, they help build a community where kids can play, socialize, learn skills, meet new people and do more than just "hang out" or wander around town bored. Their cafe will soon be open to the public, staffed by volunteers who graduate the barista and server classes. If you stop in, be sure to tip well: that awesome latte you get might just be made by one of my kids! (I will absolutely hunt you down if you don't)

There are recycling stations up front to use that are free. Glass/paper/metal. If you're bringing trash, you'll get weighed, handed a card, you drive up, find a spot, back in, and toss your trash. Kinda fun. Smelly. The minimum fee is $33. Not sure where the bubble is as far as weight, but I didnt break it so it was just $33 for my truckload of stuff. Friendly service. Easy to use.
