The good: This hike is very short and easily doable for all fitness levels. Although there is decline down and incline back, even someone out of shape can make it back up (ask me how I'm sure :) ) The payoff is amazing! The fall is gorgeous and centered so you are able to see it well from any angle at the bottom. There is thunder and mist and a beautiful pool of water as well as shade to enjoy it in. We saw wildlife, including a lizard (pictured) and a deer on our way out. The not so good: The road is dirt for the last few miles and has a steep drop-off, so drive slow and pay attention. I was lucky enough not to have anyone in front of me but halfway through the drive a cybertruck came up behind me and they had to stop for a while to create distance because there was so much dirt flying at their car that they couldn't see. Even with the dirty and sometime scary drive, these falls are definitely worth visiting.

We noted broken glass on the ground so there may be a risk of break-ins here. The walk itself was a gradual descent which made it one of the easier ones. We went on Thanksgiving Day and only encountered a couple walking down to the falls while we were leaving. The waterfall is beautiful and looks like a really fun spot to swim in the summer.

Probably few better places for camping. Due to the shape of the lake there is lots of shore and very few people using it. I think its an underrated lake but I still prefer Lake Tahoe - and at about the same distance for me from home I probably would never come to this lake as a destination. There is something about the trees or the air in Lake Tahoe that lures me in more like a fly to a bug zapper... and I'm not alone - its popularity is shown by the packed beaches. I can compare this place only to Lake Tahoe and another thing that I love about LT is how it (or at least South Lake Tahoe) is the perfect marriage of nature and city. There are bars and steak houses and music venues and other thing you could imagine that a decent city has. Mount Shasta seems to just be nature. If your driving long distances I think its worth a stop. Take an hour. Stretch your legs - get in your 10,000 steps even when you are on the road.

My family and I have been renting jet skis around the globe for years, and not once did anyone perform a post-use inspection. I have no problem with them performing a post-use inspection, but if you are going to do that, you need to also do a pre-use inspection in front of us. We were on the lake, away from debris and the shore, yet she said the jet ski sucked up something and was damaged. We were charged an additional fee for parts and labor for repairs. The thing is, if you didn't perform a pre-use inspection in front of the customer, how do we know this isn't previous damage? Do they do this to all unsuspecting customers? Who knows. Lesson learned for next time.

So there was no way I was going to cover that all on foot. I had my puppers with me and at about the 40 minute mark the tree cover went away completely. I had to cut our adventure shorter than expected and turn around as we were both sweaty little hot dogs at this point. Would love to complete the entire trail at some point.
