I did, anyway. So it's wonderful to see two familiar faces when I go to Hometown Hardware. This store is smaller than St. Paul Builders, but Steve and Jerry are quick to order anything you need. I wanted some DAP plaster-of-Paris powder, and it was waiting for me the next time I went in--and at a good price. Steve and Jerry are professional, accommodating, and also very nice and friendly. I predict that Hometown Hardware will become as much a local institution as St. Paul Builders was. And I very much appreciate that I don't have to drive a long way just to pick up hardware and supplies. The location in downtown St. Paul is extremely convenient.

We have used them for all of our paint needs for the house, and have been happy with the quality of the products. If they don't have something on hand, they are generally happy to order it. They have basically everything you expect from a small town hardware store and then some. I went into work early in order to be able to leave briefly and meet the installer. 9:00 came and went...At 9:35 still no installer and no call offering a reason why...we called the store. The store called Chris, the installer. Chris said he "didn't know he had to be there at 9:00 on the dot". He figured "around 9," said he was in South Point and would be there in 5 minutes. Chris doesn't manage time well, South Point is more than 5 minutes away. More importantly, Chris also does not respect other people's time. I find another employee who says they are maybe in 2 if not then 4. I look in both places and find hardware, nails, screws etc. but no shelving hardware. I walked up to the customer service desk, the young lady said "if we have anything like that, it'll be in 34". I should not have stopped at Lowe's. Maybe the worst "customer service" I have had there. Came home and ordered from Amazon.
