However, when I saw Dr. Chang, she could not find these 11 cavities :-) She commended me on my dental hygiene, and sent me on my way. These qualities are so hard to find in one dentist, and I honestly saw a string of not-so-great dentists before seeing her. This makes me appreciate her even more! I am a nurse and a soon-to-be dietitian, so I'm very selective about the healthcare providers I see. And I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Chang!

I had an appointment, got held up at work and called in advance of the appointment time to say that I was being held up and asked whether I should reschedule or go ahead and come to the office. I told her that I was leaving the house and my maps said 15 minutes. She told me that would be fine and go ahead and come for the appointment. I arrived, Parking took a few extra minutes and by the time I got into the actual office and was standing at the desk, it was almost 20 minutes. She told me that I was late for the appointment, I reminded her that I had called and asked, and she had said to come ahead. She said that she told me 15 minutes not 20 and that they wouldn't take me. I insisted that she check with the dentist and she said it wasn't necessary and that they couldn't see me. I wasted time off of work and drive across town to go to the dentist only to be turned away after I had confirmed the appointment and called in advance to ask if they wanted me to reschedule. I tried to respect their time, but they had zero respect for mine. This pisses me off so much I can't even tell you. I really like this dentist, but I don't think I'm going to go back because I just don't want to take the risk that this receptionist is going to randomly decide that I can't attend my appointment.

He took to the books and toys available in the neat, clean waiting area right away. The front office staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The dental hygienist came to get us and was so incredibly warm, bubbly, and friendly! She had an infectious grin and laugh and praised him right away for practicing his "ahhhhh" on our way to the exam area. She gave him choices of colors for sunglasses to wear so the bright light didn't bother him, choices of toothbrush colors, and went back and forth the whole time between addressing us, asking us questions, giving us information and interacting with him. She followed his lead on everything! She listened to him, she gave him space when he needed it, and told us her goal for the first visit was to introduce him to all the elements and tools of a dental cleaning - the mirror, the saliva sucking tool, etc. She listened to the way we prompted him and supported him and quickly used a lot of the same language when working with him. The dentist then came in and picked up right where the hygienist left off. He listened to us and to our little guy, gave him choices, gave him space, and was able to change his approach quickly and easily if he could tell what he was trying wasn't working. He even asked the hygienist to grab some prizes in order for him to see them in the hopes it would encourage our little guy to participate when he was feeling ready to be finished. The dentist wound up billing us at a reduced rate because we didn't get the full cleaning and exam and asked us to come back in order to do the rest of the appointment at a later date. When making the appointment, the receptionist made note of any characters or small prizes our little one is most interested in. He is already talking about getting more red race cars the next time he goes to the dentist! I can't recommend this place and its staff highly enough!

I had one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had with Dr. Grillon. He became visibly frustrated with me because the mouth guard kept slipping, something that was completely out of my control. Instead of offering help or adjusting his approach, he acted annoyed and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. No patient should ever be treated that way. The facility itself is outdated and unwelcoming, which only added to the negative experience. The only positive part of this visit was the nursing staff. The nurse assisting me was incredibly kind, professional, and even apologized on his behalf, which says a lot. She did her best to make me feel comfortable despite his behavior.
