If you're not sure what beer to try a free tasting at the bar (with generous sample sizes) will help you decide. The guys there are very friendly and will provide old fashioned good service. I think it's worth the extra few pence to drink a premium craft beer as fresh as it gets, served in a glass (and not a plastic beaker a few other pubs in Henley reserve for outside drinkers). It's housed in a beautiful old building with much character detail intact, but has the drawback that in the winter it can get a little chilly, although it looks like some heaters have been installed now. You can always get some take away beer in a growler or mini keg to drink at home or for a picnic. I love the Growler (reusable 1 or 2L glass flagons) as there is zero packaging waste, and is most cost efficient.
