I dropped off some prized-pieces of dresses, shoes and clothing items I have been trying to keep for years, wishing some day I may be able to fit in them again. Well, some wishes don't come true but I didn't forget to drop in and check out what they have in season. Their clothing boutique is small but quite sweet and was visually appealing. To my surprise, I found a Smart Set dress that was in an exceptional condition (SS was one of my fave stores that was discontinued). It fit like a glove and even better it was prized at $4! What a steal! This thrift store was a bit far off from downtown Langley but was worth the drive out. I would definitely come here again, especially when I donate again but also will be checking out any rare find!

I've sworn off Value Village countless times over the years. But similar to my relationship with cheese, I just can't stay mad at it for long. So I've made a deal with myself: from now on it's only high-quality dairy goodness (read: no Cracker Barrel); and Value Village is only to be visited in decidedly select locations. This particular establishment just so happens to have made the cut. As far as lame big-box thrift stores go, this one is pretty fantastic (relatively speaking, I mean it's still a shitty thrift store). Organized, clean, decent selection, and genuinely friendly and animated staff mean that I don't feel like I've been totally ripped off after I've left with yet another sequined top. A rarity in the infinite megathrift empire, the Langley location leaves me feeling like there just might be Value in this Village after all (cheese!).

They have everything from vintage knick knacks to toys to books to small furniture. And clothes, TONS of clothes, all organized by size, style, season...you name it. They also have a large selection of household items, like dishes, bedding, towels, and small appliances. One thing I really appreciate is that they have dressing rooms so you can try things on! Some larger thrift stores have done completely away with this option, and while I understand why, I appreciate the ones who still have them. The line can get a little long at the counter, so keep that in mind if you're there on a busy day. But if you want a great thrifting experience, and to support a lovely small town business, definitely give Island Thrift a try!

She looked very visibly angry when saying this. I apologized and told her that I genuinely thought this was one of the racks on display in the store and backed off it. I hadn't been here before so I didn't know the layout of the store. She didn't say anything to me after that and hurried off away? I tried to go through the rest of the store but, after that the vibe was just off and I had to leave. Not sure if I will come back. At least not for awhile. Overall the store is very organized and clean. The clothing selection isn't the most stylish but, they can't help want gets donated to them. Would have liked it more if my visit had been better.
